  1. RT, First I want to add to thanks others have expressed for your time [OK, lots and lots of time] and efforts on our behalf. My humble suggestion is that you and everyone else knows what your contribution has been and what your limits of control are, so let any seeming ignorance of that distinction slide off your back. If someone wanted to think that you have true control of flaws, then that is their problem. You have been a facilitator, and a superb one at that. Everyone involved in this group purchase, or almost everyone, knows it. Any comments to the contrary should be like water off a duck. Thank you again for your help. Esteban, your pics and description have whetted my appetite. Congrats, and I can't wait to receive mine. Has anyone received tracking info, particularly from Jay? Nyugenndd, If it only costs $20-40 to have a jeweler replace the dial, I'd suck it up and have it done. It would still come out as a great rep at a great price. Perhaps Eddie will give you a discount on your next purchase to offset the additional cost? Everyone else..... we are so incredibly lucky to even have this group buy opportunity. Read The Zigmeister's latest marekt evaluation message in the General discussion section to understand what I am talking about. Damn, the only things I'm [censored] about is that I don't have more money to spend on the fantastic recent reps [and wouldn't my wife choke to read those words!!], and more wrists or wrist time to wear the beautiful watches that we have.
  2. I started out the same way with my Overseas. Fortunately I was able to resize the watch before I caused serious damage to too many key screws. But even after resizing several screws kept coming loose, until they met up with some loctite. The screws on the VC Overseas are definitely the weakest link (pun intended) on anotherwise fine watch.
  3. I concur with every word that has been said so far, even if I couldn't translate them. Best wishes always to our champion.
  4. You left out the most important detail. Did your watch survive?
  5. http://msfirefox.com/ My favorite feature: "MS Firefox 2007 delivers a dramatic boost in the download speeds of online pornography. By utilising a proprietary dynamic algorithm - anything that remotely resembles a [censored] or a boob will download up to 10 times faster. Fun at the speed of light!"
  6. A year or so ago, after the first Santos 100 reps came out, I posted a picture of one of the "Quuer Eye for a Straight Guy" stars wearing a 100. I seem to recall several members announced their intention of selling their Santos reps in the days following. By the way, anyone want to buy a slightly worn two-tone Santos 100?
  7. I'd take this one any time over a Daytona.
  8. Sam, if you recall, Richard said Jay takes the weekend off.
  9. If this is a standard IWC bracelet no special tools are needed. You should be able to do it with a pair of small screwdrivers... or even the end of a large paper clip. The easiest band I've ever resized.
  10. Try Eccos. They have some dressier styles, though they don't compare in looks to Italian loafers, if that is the look you need. These are shoes you can sight see or wander in all day, yet still feel very comfortable pairing with a suit for a nice restaurant or concert. A good pair of Eccos can run you ab. $150, but they are worth it, and will last a long time.
  11. The current list is incomplete, and I gather that a number of people in certain countries have removed themselves from the list. Meanwhile the dealer has changed and the number of watches available at the special price has apparently been limited to 27. People should show a bit of patience while this situation sorts itself out.
  12. Simplicity reigns in my living room: Rotel receiver/amp Denon CD player Linn Keilidh speakers (just two, no surround sound. This is a music-only, not "multi-media," system) also a Sony cassette deck and Technics (the label boasts "Quartz"!!) turntable which I use once every few years.
  13. Very sorry to hear about your problem. It sounds like your modified 7750 is acting up. Review this The Zigmeister thread. It may explain the problems you are having: The Zigmeister's dissection of a Portugese 7750
  14. Far away, in a long gone universe, there was a beloved thread with a catchy title such as "Girls, Girls, Girls," where some board members squandered many hours of their youth [that is, last year]. One wonders what ever happened to that honored thread?
  15. It's probably the same reason that many of the screws used in rep watchbands wear out quickly or fail to stay tight -- manufacturers often use cheaper parts in places that are less noticeable. We are talking about two types of tolerances -- tolerances of parts, and tolerances of buyers. Fortunately for you in this instance spring bars are much easier to replace than bracelet screws.
  16. Welcome. The Zigmeister has several extremely detailed discussions of 7750s. You can find them in Expert Area\ The Zigmeister Zone In addition you can read about many people's experiences -- positive and negative-- with 7750s throughout the board. Good luck.
  17. I received this watch, the Omega Geneve Dynamic, for my high school graduation, although mine had a gold case and (in my opinion) much more interesting and attractive dial). I regret letting this watch go after it got severely water damaged, but at that time I didn't want to bear the expense of rehabbing it. I scan e-bay periodically, but the gold case with my dial apparently was a relatively rare version. My father still has the SS version with the blue bulls eye dial, which looks better in person than in these photographs. Some day I will probably inherit it from him.
  18. I've been going back and forth on whether to join this group purchase. But there is only one way to know. Please add my name to the list. Thanks for organizing, DT.
  19. Relaxman, You have way too much time on you hands. But then I noticed that I have the exact same shoes....except mine are brown with orange trim. And I thought.....hmmmm. Eccos are great shoes.
  20. Some people may disagree with me, but in my book any watch costing less than $100 is a "What the f***k" purchase. Sure, I expect it to work and appear as advertised, but I don't expect the same quality or long term reliability as on a $200 or $300 watch. You mentioned a retrograde calendar. I don't know how yours functions, but on a low cost watch I have particularly low expectations of the special functions. Your dealer has proven his caliber by shipping the watch back and forth a few times to resolve earlier issues. At this point, I think it is up to you to decide whether you like the watch enough to have it fixed locally on your dime. At the same time, I would let the dealer know and express hope that he would extend you an extra discount on your next purchase to acknowledge that this was a less than ideal watch. Hopefully your next watch is more problem free. Good luck.
  21. At this stage, I'd say members are doing more damage to themselves and each other via childish "cutting comments" than they would ever inflict via knives, even if you were in the same room together. Look at how quickly these discussions descend into juvenile insults. Even relatively mature people can lose control very quickly. With words, you can simply walk away and decide that "xxx" or "yyyy" is a blooming idiot/[censored]. If a weapon is present, a momentary lapse can be much more harmful. I respect Finepics for raising this question. I acknowledge the rights of knife collectors to do their thing, and for knife vendors to do theirs -- as long as this doesn't turn into a weapons forum. Then I and others would either ask that you take your community elsewhere.... or I (and apparently others) would leave. There is no need to get hostile about differences of opinion. Otherwise this might be a Pam 110 forum or a Submariner forum and no one would ever discuss any other watches. How boring would that be?
  22. I used to freeze frame on great shots of stunning women. Now I go back and forth to freeze frame on the watch shots. How far I've fallen.....
  23. Actually, I was going to make it cars, babes, motorcycles, babes, audio-video equipment, babes, guitars-- and babes-- as well as guns and knives. And yes, football and beer ....and scotch.... definitely belong as well.
  24. Avitt, I, too, am saddened by your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I, like many others, do not get the attraction of knives, or guns for that matter. But watches are a male-dominated hobby, and many members here like cars, motorcycles, audio-video equipment, and guitars, as well as guns and knives. So even though I don't get the fascination, and generally support gun control laws, I don't see the need at this time to restrict knife-related discussions or advertisements. If they became too prominent and knife enthusiasts started to be as numerous as watch enthusiasts, then I might suggest that they find their own forum and leave this one to its original focus. But until then, lack of interest among members will do better to limit undesirable advertisements than outright censorship. Finepics, I'd also like to say that I appreciate and admire your raising this question for discussion.
