  1. Cool story Laz, as a kind of off topic side note: I had my sub called out last night by a friend of mine running his finger over the date mag and saying that on the gens it's not even slightly 'sharp' on the edges.. I don't pass it off to be gen so it didn't bother me, just interesting that this 'flaw' isnt talked about much.. I guess the general consensus on the boards is we all figure someone should be able to tell a gen from a fake just from the 'feel' in general though.. Not sure how true that is though really..
  2. I gotta laugh at the level of expertise on our forum, people able to tell a gen straight away.. Because of the lume perhaps? I don't know. Anyway - wow this is seriously seriously beautiful, congrats skool! Where abouts did you pick this up if you dont mind me asking? ps. got any caseback pics?
  3. Congrats, bro. You've taught me so much in so little time! It's only a matter of time before UN decides to make you an ambassador for the brand and begins to send you articles for free.. ..right? Well I hope so.. don't see how else you're gonna get that marine chronometer! RobbieG, without you my wishlist would be 5 pieces less. Heres to the next 2000!
  4. Oh yeah, oh yeah? What about this little ensemble with the.. odd 'chronograph'.. with the rare strap forged from the illustrious pink... .. animal..
  5. Aren't all new reps $300 or more now as a rule? Seems it..
  6. I'm glad this topic has arisen, thankyou for bringing this information to my attention. I was wondering myself about the differences in the "o", hadn't noticed the other differences and didn't realise that these were all differences in the GEN! This makes me wonder, and worry actually how accurate the WM9 LV will be WM9 LV V2 is the last thing we need !
  7. if 3/6 of them are gonna be in the situation, just change it so that the groomsmen arent overly dressy.. and just wearing suits with coordinated shirt/ties!?
  8. Actually since you've said that I've realised how stupid what I've just said was - because there'd be no way to charge the lume of the days that aren't showing in the window, so when the date ACTUALLY changes in the middle of the night it'd be dark anyway. God.. Now I feel dumb.
  9. I wonder if they'll ever start making the numerals on the DW's lumed too, so you could read the date in dark conditions, that'd be a cool feature I think... Yes this would make reluming rather difficult for our hobby
  10. To be fair, OP did say he was 19 in another thread. Not too odd for individuals of that age to be a little strapped of cash at times! (Assuming individual in question is of similar age). You could always pay for the rental for him and have him pay you back? Depends if hes one of those friends or not of course!
  11. Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, theres a number of colours - all pretty amazing.. This one's my favourite:
  12. I stand corrected Robbie, this has a gooood look. Although I do think it is generally that pieces look more exquisite, luxurious and generally more 'expensive' with the smoother lines, and 'polished' looks about them. Hard to explain what I mean but to use an example you can use the shape, lines and contours of old pocket watches to see exactly how sweeping lines on round faces just set the whole thing off to mean understated elegance. So, heres an interesting experiment on human aesthetics!.. What does your eye prefer here? or How about sculptures? or The bean!
  13. I'm still suprised at just how square the latest Datejust is, the changes from the old style case seem huge and make the piece look so different. I like the new look alot and the smooth bezel is definately the finish which most fits the new case lines (I think so anyway!) The rigged bezel has never done it for me though, I always think it looks abit 'cheapy' (sorry!)
  14. You posted this just to tease me, Robbie. You know you did.
  15. and just imagine how much higher your arm could be in the wrist check pictures with Breitlings on them! sign me up!
  16. While I understand and agree as said in my OP that I'm sure this is done for visibility and measurability reasons, I just can't help but think it is none the less annoying for every day use and I don't know if anyone has been on the track recently, but I'd like to see you unscrew and press those buttons on a daytona in the middle of a "200 mph" race
  17. OK so I've held this on my mind for so long, and I can't stop thinking other people must think this sometimes too.. Why oh why are chronographs made the way they are? Having the running seconds at 6 is a stupid STUPID design because it effectively means that the largest hand on the dial (the large seconds hand) is stationary at 12 all the time. I know the actual reason is that this seconds hand is suppose to be visible and accurately measurable but it'd be so nice to have just all sub-dials interact with each other.. I mean for the 3 subdials all to be separate from the time itself, so the seconds, minutes, and hours on a chronographs face are all for the stopwatch, and the seconds @ 6 begins when you press the start button. I do think the current design makes sense in watches built to measure the stopwatch time and only that - the latest TAG for example with a rotating bezel that allows you to measure within a 1/10th of a second, it seems fitting for this purpose.. ..but on a Rolex Daytona? A watch that I can almost safely say has never been used to measure stopwatch time as its primary feature.. Hell this stationary seconds hand at 12 would be annoying.. to me anyway. We all know keeping it running all the time isnt an option either! so this is no fix. With that said, will you ever look at that seconds hand on your chronograph the same ever again?.. Just my 2... pence? PS: RobbieG; I want your input and I'm sure you'll have something to add in this topic bro
  18. You are lucky you had a response to this at all as this is basically a "who has the best sub" question. A little research and backreading would tell you both; what "who has the best sub" means and which exactly is the 'most suitable' Rolex DSSD rep for you.
  19. I think he's working on some kind of custom dial project.. you're working on having one made with your family crest on, is this correct blue_sphere?
  20. You should send your pics to them, perhaps they'll proudly display it on their page, and maybe even give you a token of gratitude? (Their other pics are no where as good as your own)
  21. Where else could you get this prompt, succint illustrated information in only a few minutes? Incredible By-Tor..
  22. Hahaha, I laughed out loud at this ^ Newcastle Brown Ale?
  23. Erm WOW, Robbie.. The quality of the bracelet/clasp.. Holy crap! Speechless
