  1. Can anyone actually tell me why the price of some of the reps are so high? I'm sure they manufacture these watches for an extremely low double figure, yet people talk about 'recovering margins' on $480-600 reps.. I think theres ONLY profit to be made from these pieces, surely? Surely, theres no way they are costing $100-400 to manufacture, no way. Even with the QC, some modifications and specialisation (WM9).
  2. To me the whole idea of restriction creates separation and discourages the whole premise of 'sharing' ? I realise you are proud of this forum and the membership and community, but how would you expect to inspire or awaken people to the hobby by restricting them? If you started a sport, and they restricted your movement and actions in the game stopping you from experiencing it fully, how inclined would you be to return to that sport?
  3. This might be a little off topic, but I just thought I'd share: When I first visited this forum I was actually more of a fan of Breitling. I had no passion or interest in Rolex's at all and thought they were old fashioned and conjoured up ideas of big rich businessmen in awfully non-aesthetic gold unappreciated timepieces. However the members of this forum's enthusiasm for the brand and appreciation for the Rolex engineering precision that has actually ended up engrossing me into liking them!
  4. As an extreme newb myself; I'd just like to say to the 'vets' of the board - allow us 'noobs' some leeway! This is an extremely difficult topic to learn about and I have spent about 9 hours the past week in total reading thread after thread [since one thread always links to another - its like wikipedia!] about all sorts, at this point what possible great contribution could I make? Having access to the trade section is one of the main ways I am learning about this wonderful hobby and art. There are many many many guides around for newbs already on the board - it is a hell of alot of information to take in, particularly if you don't own any gens or know much about the Rolex range, let alone the rep rolex range. edit: Freddy - you put it perfectly. Noise.
  5. First post! Shundi, you're so dedicated
  6. I'm a total newbie to the board, both of these watches must be gens surely?
