NoobyPanFan replied to PeteM's topic in The Panerai Area
Great stuff Pete! Thanks for your valuable insight... Like you I am neither a fan of Ti or Rad's but I too have the 288 and the 177 on the way thanks to my buddy R_2. Enjoy it in the rotation! -
This pic is without the bezel... That is why it appears so tall...

I think that is about it...

Looking for a 44mm blue or grey dial PAM...

Well... This is DSN's. I am not sure about the ability to cross the parts. Perhaps some of the others have experimented. -

Pete is right on as usual... Here is a 91 I used to have. Depending on the light it can look black, anthracite and anything in between. -
Problem with CG Lever in Titanum Pam 40B
NoobyPanFan replied to lfovco's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
It sucks when this kind of stuff in not mentioned in the sales thread... It is because of the Gen (or T48) crown. It has a deeper dish and the lever foot is too short as you found out. Some guy's have made small metal discs to place inside the dish. If you want to use that crown with that CG you will need either a new lever or fill some of the space in the dish to achieve contact. I was thinking once that poring some clear resin into the dish and letting it dry/harden might actually work and not be visible. Best of luck in how ever you decide to handle it! -

I enjoy coming back to this thread to look at the pic's I am very excited about this project... Dial, case & hands. It has been a long time since I was psyched for a Rad. This will be THE one! ~ I also like seeing my name in the #2 slot. I am always in deep #2, but this time I don't mind... -

+100,000,000,000,000,000 and thats alot! You have guy's waiting for them to come up on the second hand market lately. I have always used the original and will remain that way! Thanks T! -
Well... If anything it originally had a circular machined finish to it, much like that of an original PVD Pam. As far as I know, it should be either machined or polished. If you see a pic of it brushed, my guess is that the CG was re-brushed at some point. I just searched 5218-207A and found many examples... Perhaps Wolf can chime in as he is the Pre-V Master of the Universe!

The pin is polished...

Not sure on price as I am a handwind dude... I think an Ultimate from the Cartel or Sead is about $450. But the dial needs to be relumed and the crown replaced. Work done on the CG and so on... From Vac it will depend on movement. Asian vs. Swiss. I can tell you from my last 2 years of rep experiences and having gone though at least 100 of them that unless you can confidently do all the modding yourself it is worth it to put the money into a nice one!!!!!!! Otherwise you will get a half a$$ed Rep and immediately jump to a decent Rep and sell it quickly for a highly modded Rep. In the long run you will save time and money spending a bit extra up front. Anyway you go about it, you know it's going to be a FUN ride! Best of luck!
-
Ooops.. Sorry Bro! It is an Ultimate further modded by Vac. He will be the end seller. Known as Vac, Vaclume and Vaccum. He is a member/modder here and on the Geek! In my opinion this will be tough to beat, but will not come cheaply. You can email him as he dislikes the PM's. I think it shows the email in his area's.

Best 104 you can get without doing it all yourself... http://repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=112816

Looks AWESOME Bro! I will get one of these soon... BTW that is a Rep strap as mentioned. That guy has sure sold a lot of those.
-
LH's are approx $196 shipped... Get one for each of the 3... You will be surprised at how they transform. If it is too much at one time, get one and see for yourself.
-
Well... I would use a nice DSN, Toro or Snembo slightly reshape the arch (of the Toro & Snembo)and polish. Since none of those are the correct shape for Pre-V anyway. The other option is to scour the boards for a year in hopes that a Fu will pop up. Wolf and a few others are THE KINGS of answering these questions. I pay attention and absorb as mucg as I can. And BTW, if you ever grow tired of the dial and handset LMK! Best of luck!

Good eye Dru... I saw that as well. Not being critical, as I have not gotten off my a$$ to help better the Community. Just wondering is all. I have noticed the inconsistent teeth on my V1 T's... Which I still LOVE BTW!
