  1. I've beaten it. The problem that I had was at last I was looking for the best quality replicas, the ones that look nearly identical to the real thing. The next problem became that the prices went up from there. They are still out there and I have received emails from dealers about them, but I have replied and said that the watches are too overpriced. Some go clear up to $500 from $200. I've never spent over $225 for one replica watch and even $225 is a lot of money for something that isn't real when you can buy a perfectly fine automatic genuine seiko on ebay for about $100 which is what I did before I got into this.

I somehow have my doubts that it costs very much money to build that "super rep". If you're paying $500 for a watch made in shenzhen, how much are the workers being paid. I'm guessing that the guy that designed the rep might be getting a bit of money out of it, but who knows. Seems like the people who run the shops are the top dogs there. I really can't understand paying that kind of money for a replica. :)

I have to say on the face of it I quite agree, I've bought many a Seiko and they are generally great watches, beyond those I do have a few Gen. and more Reps but I suppose my problem is other than the older model watches which hold their value better, I do like some of the new designs which have been coming out, and of course get bored easily so instead of buying a new watch and loosing a 1000+ the second I've purchased why not fill my thirst with a fraction of the loss, it will only last the same amount of time as my enjoyment.

  2. It took me a few weeks before I made my first purchase. My first purchase was with silix and I got a day-date, an airking and a james bond SMP. Those were good buys and I could've just stopped there. After I accumilated 20 watches, I sold half of them and I guess I bought one or two more and then stopped. It is easy to get used to buying one watch per month but after you stop buying, you get used to not buying any more :)

    That's what they all say!

You haven't beaten your thrust for it and you too are a replicahollick! Don't be ashamed we are here to help you from slipping back down that rocky road.

    Only kidding of course.

  3. Yes I know, that strikes me as well. Feels like an impossible thing to come up with =) .. I'm only guessing, but perhaps the main parts of this caliber is about the same, sort of, as some other more basic movements, and then the chrono functions have been incorporated into the design. It's like adding the dynamo to the wheel of a bicycle, voila you get the lights. So it's probably not such a great invention after all. Lol, only kidding! It's really a great piece of engineering.

    I'd say!

Got to have a lot o patients as well, I was contemplating doing my own repairs on some of my watches, but after seeing that I think I have more chance falling pregnant (NB I am a man & have definitely not had a sex change to become one either).

  4. Sorry to hear about your relative, it's never easy news to get. An ex had a similar situation with her aunt, and that wasn't easy for the family, my thoughts are with you all at this time.

    Thank you TeeJay, most appreciated!

  5. I would say it doesn't matter what you choose to do as a career as long as you make the most of life and your health is in tact, money isn't everything, it is however one of the most incredibly inventions in the world but it can't stop you from getting hit by a truck, or becoming termly ill....., one of my family members was diagnosed with cancer last year and underwent major surgery to their stomach removed and was shortly after given the all clear, until a month ago they were diagnosed with cancer again which can't be operated on they are only in her thirties, they have all the money in the world but at the end of the day it mean jack sh*t, so mark my words make the most of life as you sure hell don't know what's around the corner.

  6. Hi everyone I have had roughly 90 pass through my hands over the years and currently have 10 I've kept and love. Oh and one new one on the way!

I suppose due to the current climate the Chinese government would probably start welcoming counterfeit goods as they probably receive a huge amount of cash in taxes, if they don't someone aught to tell them :bangin: :bangin:

  7. Do your search here for collectors/dealers and member experiences with them. If you don't find the site you're interested in used by members here...use your judgement...but don't be surprised if you get ripped off. We have recommended dealers here for a reason...namely because the forum is aimed at protecting people from getting scammed either by over-pricing, overt mis-representation, or payment with no product.

In the grand scheme of thigns...saving $30 on a watch should not be a big deal for free shipping. Go for peace of mind and buy from a well reviewed dealer with a known history and known issues.

All dealers here will reship if the item is stuck in customs.

As to a real Swiss ETA movement...read reviews here...and you'll find there are copies of Swiss movements out there. For the most part, the dealers themselves don't know the difference between the gen and copy movements...and there's debate on the forum over what people receive. These are the joys of the counterfeit underground market.

So...if you pay for Swiss...assume it might not actually be a gen Swiss but an Asian copy of the Swiss movement...and be delighted if it turns out to be otherwise. Chris at Eurotimez supposedly checks to ensure you're actually getting a real Swiss movement.

    Welcome aboard.

Okay, so would that mean both the asian 25 and the so called swiss both run at 28800?

  8. You are not going to be scammed buying for the recommended dealers of this forum. They all provide high customer service

concernign big watches , it depends on what you ocnsider big. My uncle (an owner of gen rlxs since the 70s) saw my 44mm PAM on my hand the day before yesterday and he was "shocked" by its size. Imagine me wearing a UBOAT or a 48-50 mm watch.

    Taken on board.

  9. Welcome Nicco. I would stick with the dealers on RWG. They will also go that extra mile for RWG members. If you are tempted to go somewere else be careful. Andrew and Joshua are known and for the most part well respected in this community. That says a lot right there. We rep folks dont put up with any BS ;) Take your time, get to know the place. Good Luck :) Mike

    Thanks for the advice!

  10. Hi all, also a noob to this have bought many a watch and so far have been extremely lucky, stumbled across Josh and Andrew by avid searching and then lost complete touch as domain names changed so frequently. fortunately have found Josh again at jpc8118.com, just out of curiosity has anyone dealt with bigbigwatch? as they offer the same products, free shipping with more than two items and if the items get stuck at customs apparently will ship again until received. Want to purchase two of the Swiss Eta sea-dwellers but don't want to loose any money through customs or being ripped off. What's your advice?
