  1. I never used to think much of Breitlings but then it all changed when I saw the Skyland Avenger recently, especially the graphite dial and when one came up on here I had to have it! So, courtesy of HikeUSA, about 2 weeks later it turns up on my desk and it surpasses expectations - what a watch! :D

Here are some pics on a gen strap that I managed to get my hands on. It's a very dark blue but I think looks good against the graphite (apologies, pictures are from my phone)

OOps, pics a bit big, sorry :whistling:

  2. Hi

I am trying to build a Planet Ocean chrono and have had several attempts at getting the correct case. It is for the new, correctly spaced sub-dial model so is a deeper case than the old version. I am almost at the point of selling up all the parts I have but just one last shot at getting it! Most dealers here won't get just parts, and the one who did was not able to get hold of this case even after trying for several months....

So, does anyone have any idea where I might get one? Or does anyone have a non-working watch that they want to sell on?!

    Cheers

  3. Just a few from my favourites (I haven't used all of them though so YMMV):

http://helenarou.com/ mainly homage stuff but good for projects

    https://www.watchtool.co.uk/ as it says really

http://watchpart.co.uk/ sister site of the above, some genuine parts

http://www.ioffer.com/users/offertoyou bracelets and some watch parts, bracelets seem goo quality

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/tryabidforit/ bracelets tools and parts for Tudor/ Rolex etc

http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/parts4rolex/ the name gives it away

And am I really the first to post this: Davidsen's photobucket :whistling:

  4. So how do you explain the gap between a SF240 without stem and this one??? Moreover, when you have a gen watch, you always can find a watchmaker to repair it or to re-create some parts... I agree with your theory but it doesn't work here according to me

A Key-wind Angelus is useless for a wristwatch really - and the parts are not interchangeable. Supply and demand: there aren't that many stem winds available and hence they are sought after...and thus the high price

  5. Sorry to bring this topic back from the dead, but I would like to say that I at last got round to emailing DSN and he sent me the correct screws absolutely gratis - what a gent! :thumbsupsmileyanim:

He will certainly be getting some business from me in the future (in fact I have a few bits getting quoted for a vintage build right now..!) :)

  6. Hello all, I've done quite a bit of searching both here and on the web but I can't find any useful info so I thought I'd throw it over to some of the experts on the forum!

I would like to remove the date function from a movement as it will be used in a no-date watch. Is there any way of making it so that it only has one "click" when the crown/stem is pulled out?(rather than 1st click for date, 2nd for time setting)

I am going to be using a 4813 as I want the 28800 bph, so alternatively is there a movement that offers the smooth sweep with auto and no date?!

    TIA ^_^

  7. Well, RG is being difficult again, but hopefully I can open that thread up sooner or later.

In the meantime, that is an awesome idea. Now, where do I get a needle? I live in a small town in the US, and I doubt I can by a syringe w/out perscription. And on the other side, there arent any needle users in my "circle of friends" where I could get a "hand me down". LOL

Heh! Luckily enough I know a diabetic and my wife works in healthcare so I should be able to get hold of something useful in the near future. Perhaps somewhere online: http://www.researchsupply.net/syringesNeedles.html

  8. The hand rotates fine in the hole provided by the dial. Either I need a seconds hand with a longer "tube" to accomodate the thicker dial, or a longer seconds hand driver / shaft / pin (sorry, dont know the proper name for that seconds hand pin) that would stick up approximately 1mm higher than what it is doing now.

This watch would look like the bastard of all, but I like the look of it.

So again, anyone with ideas, please chime in!!!!!!!

I read a post on RepGeek that uses hypodermic needles to extend the seconds cannon, I will be trying something similar myself on my vintage project

    Edit... here: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=64762

  9. I might have 1 or 2 CG screws around which I can spare.

    PM me.

Well Pre V very kindly sent me a screw (thanks dude!) but sadly it wasn't the right size - I think that the DSN case I have is the earlier type, which has smaller screws than the one I was sent...

So can anybody else help out? Please?! ;)

  10. Hello all

This is my first Rep build, and it's probably wildly inaccurate but please forgive me! It's an attempt at a 117 (essentially an 056 with open caseback) on a custom antique leather strap. The colour of the dial is way too light as far as I can tell, and the green lume is wrong but not as bad as the pictures! I'm pretty pleased with it.

It's a Davidsen Ultimate 056 dial and hands with an asian 6497 swan-neck (thanks AmStaff!) and the case is a cheapo SS from m*litarytime - I am waiting for a Ti one to become available from a user here. The crown guard had to be reshaped to sit flat on the case, and thinned out to not stick up when moved to the "destro" way round

Enjoy the (camera phone) pictures! Sorry about the quality :(
