  1. Dear noob... Local watchsmiths and mall jewelers are OK...I'm sure you are NOT talking about Authorized Dealers at the mall, right? The response is obvious...never take a rep to an AD...reps are illegal...nobody is going to throw you in a dark cell, but you'll be frown upon and your $100 rep thrown out the window with you...(or they'll be passive agressive and charge you EXTRA for something you can do at home with the proper tools) Ask a local jeweler if he'll do work on your replicas and build a relationship with him...don't try to fool him...he's wearing a magnifier lens and has years of experience...so he'll spot a rep in a sec...or more if need to open the case...So my advice is to be upfront... Or...get a miniscrew driver set, a set to remove/ resize bracelets and maybe a wooden block to lock the bracelet while you are working on it and do the resizing yourself...it's fun...but, never, ever enter the case...bad things will happen to you!!! well, maybe to your watch... Cheers and welcome Alex
  2. I'd take the $1500, then I'd stick to a couple of weeks of 'bread and water' and come up with $1850...for THE dress watch in that category... Well...it's IWC...enough said.
  3. ...and the truth, as always, dwells in between... [censored]! can we just all get along?
  4. I bid a fifillion gazillion zizillion...yen! Unfrikkingbelievable!!!! and I loved it...fake receipt and all Cheers
  5. Hello gentlemen... After reading the posts and all the two-way retorts, I lost track of the main theme...It says "Interesting discussion about Rep pricing"... so I'll add to the mix my viewpoint on the issue: As 'irregular' customers (we are not buying at Bloomingdale's...) we have make a decision on the inherent risks and benefits of this hobby. In the 'outside' internet jungle we are ill-equipped to survive without being scammed by dealers that sell Class A1, A2, swiss made crapola. For me it might have been a steep and pricey learning curve, fortunately I found this forum where not only I find educational information but also reputable dealers with great replicas (better than the [censored] class A that they are selling for 1000 bucks) for a fraction of the price and formidable customer service... One of the problems (created by noobs I think) is bringing their Wal Mart's customer service mentality along with their ignorance -not stupidity for now- (and the unending threads on topics that are pinned). Now, once they were educated (either by fellow members or by dealers) on quality, on what to expect, on shipping policies etc etc etc...there is no recourse. As they continue with the string of moronic comments, the Walmart total satisfaction and the unreasonable expectations 'I want a perfect perfect perfect replica'...they can rightfully be called 'frikking idiots' or ...[censored]ing idiots...whichever flavor you fancy. On scammers, little can be said that has not been said before. We all agree, they should be banned from forums like RWG...but is not my ultimate call, I'd leave it to the admin and moderators to propose some sort of 'code to abide by...or else.' On our dealers...reviews speak for themselves...but there is one interesting fact that reveals their willingness to do business and honesty: I have noticed a measure of healthy competition among them...they bring better and better products (with better and better prices)...and they pass savings onto us...this is a benefit of a free market in an open environment!...but it also applies to the dealers in this forum!!! (go outside and taste the waterssss....you'll end up with diahrrea of the wallet in a heartbeat) In here, there is no price gauging or manipulation (again, go outside...) That is remarkable. On name calling and insults...I simply don't give a [censored]! -unless ladies present...in which case I rather give a [censored] but literally- (I played rugby for years...there is nothing I haven't heard before...SO....pasta la vista my cherished [censored]ers!!!! ) Peace out Alex
  6. I'm sorry you are having that experience...I assume you had pictures of the watch prior to shipping and the condition was listed as (at least) good and in working order? I'd take pictures of the watch as it was received (with the lovely toilet paper wrapping... ) and detailed pictures of the defects. Send those to the seller and try to work it out amicably... good luck! In my opinion, I don't think the seller valued that watch highly...judging from what you described. Bubble wrap costs...less than 1/2 fart... PS: I don't oppose buying from other members, but I'd be very selective on who I'd buy it from. That's why I stick to our dealers (TTK, Josh, Andy, PT)...sometimes is impossible to extricate the watch from the inner packaging with bare hands!!!
  7. ...and never, never, dry the movement in the microwave oven
  8. Click on the links inside the link http://www.theluxurybazaar.com/timepieces/...FC-7033CA8A6A6B
  9. Here's a couple of images of the datograph perpetual in platinum that debuted in Basel 2006...look and salivate...this is wrist porn list price $137,000 Maybe factories do better repping 4000 genuine pieces than high high high end ones...
  10. ...and as soon as you'll get Joshua's sub you'll throw the Canal St. crapola out the window.
  11. Or wore only by Hip-Hopsters, Pdiddy-o!!
  12. Bill, Thank you for an painting an extraordinarily accurate picture of the situation, bringing clarity and your legal expertise into the mix. I can barely add anything to this...you said it all. Best regards Alex This post should be pinned!
  13. Yes, the 1815 should be an easier replica, but that does not mean it will be accurate. I do have a flyback crono with a Lemania movement and it is as good as it gets for replicas...but not even close to the gen. The subdials are at 3-9 whereas in the gen are at 3:45 and 8:15 (or the other way around)...that means that they would have to rework the whole movement to accomodate the change...(Lange's movement originality!). I consider it a very nice fantasy watch (*not a popular brand like Rolex) and I use it often. Is it a great replica watch? yes. Would I buy another Lange replica? no. I considered (and wrote it off) as part of my learning curve on replicas. You are right, leave the finish to the germans...maybe one day there would be a german replica maker...though I doubt it because I picture a german jail like a very cold and damp place with a big guy named Otto who would make you his frau every other night... Still Lange's are Lange's...just in their own category! Cheers Alex
  14. Hi Kdo, Is this the one you got? http://www.cqout.com/item.asp?id=1850272...came with box and papers or you had to pay extra for it? very nice... She says she does not stock 2893's...glad you got one...But I think she is a bit pricey considering she sells the same products we get from our dealers...check the 'new explorer II', I got the same from PT for a lot less and shipped in 3 days to the US. Enjoy your watch Alex
  15. Very nice case and bezel protector!!! Who is Lisa? Can you post pics without the plastic bezel protector? Looks nice...congratulations Who is Lisa? did I just say that? Where ARE my pills???
  16. Similar experience, once you had a real L&S in your hands, nothing comes even close. Lange & Sohne is probably one of the leading upper upper tier brands. Their movements are just INCREDIBLE. And it is impossible, at least today, to replicate the finish and attention to details these pieces show. I had two in my hands years ago in Zurich and the memory still lingers... Pricing is steep, an 1815 can go for $13-15K and a Langematik for over $17-20K. They released a limited edition (Basel 2006) perpetual crono in platinum...I'm salivating all over my keyboard...(where are my pills???? ) Alex
  17. I'm not sure if I follow you but let me tell you that one of the true advantages of RWG is the security blanket...you will not be scammed by one of our dealers, that is, you'll get exactly what you paid for. If you paid $88 you'll get the $88 watch...no more, but certainly no LESS. The same goes for high end pieces...$200 and up. I assume that your concerns stems from the fact that you would not like (at all) to be spotted wearing a replica, hence your questions about what are the 'perfect' replicas no one can tell. I'm telling you this because I had the same questions and concerns. Keep two things in mind: 1) nothing gets close to the real deal (consciously or subconsciously...because we know we are wearing a replica, so we can BS everybody else but not ourselves) 2) you won't find anybody going around with a jewelers magnifier checking people's wrists, crown guard shape, indentation on the crown, the sharpness and size of one letter on the dial versus the genuine...etc etc Having said this, it is much easier to spot an $88 watch than a $450 piece...once you get to that level you do want to forget (from time to time) that what you are wearing is a replica. So my advice, is to do a lot of research, read the reviews and especially the opinion from people like By-Tor, Ubi, Pug etc...Also, get a copy online of the Replica Watch Report!!! you must read it before you embark on this journey!!! I paid a price for that buying nice but non accurate watches... (i.e. Lange & Sohne flyblack crono...impossible to replicate...JUST IMPOSSIBLE to rep L&S craftmanship and finish) My own list: Joshua's Perfect Sub TW Sea Dweller MBW Milgaus VC overseas Omega PO 4th gen 42mm Omega PO XL 5th gen and Patek 5053 (?) Best regards I hope this helps Alex
  18. PT is very good! Ships super fast and the quality of the watches are excellent (exactly as displayed). I'm wearing an Explorer II from him and waiting for an ultimate LV Submariner. You can't go wrong with him. Do a little research, check the reviews, and buy what makes you happy. (In fact I had great experiences with PT, Joshua, Trusty, TTK and Eddie). Salute! Alex
  19. Have you asked Narikaa? He's also EU based. Another option would be Homer...
  20. Thank you triple!!! Alex
  21. Thank you BT, ubi, Arch, big! for great posts and pictures! Ubi, my hat goes off to you...that project is aesthetically and functionally superb! Cheers Alex
  22. By Tor, Enlightening as usual...thanks for the encyclopedic knowledge! There are a few guys I kind of 'follow' in threads (especially technical) and along with reading the Replica Watch Report...this has been a great place to start this hobby. BTW, Etaworldgoods is listed as one of the forum's dealers. Never dealt with them and haven't seen a review either but that was the first time I saw a swiss valijoux. I have always dealt with Neil, Josh, Andy, PT and Eddie and I'm not planning on changing. But I was checking the names at the bottom of the dealers list. In the end, mine ended up being a lame-[censored] question (as Neil would say it) since the Valijoux 7750 (asian or not) is NOT the native movement of that watch and would have problems regardless of the origin... Thank you guys for a swift response!!! Regards Alex
