  1. i hope not,

i mean, how hard can it really be to look at the positioning of the numbers of the dial and see they are not correct... i know the guys who build these probably don't earn a fortune, but come on, surely they have a pair of eyes

it would cost no more money to make a near perfect rep of this watch than what it currently costs, one can only wonder at the motives of those in a factory. if they fixed the problems i'd buy one in a shot, but instead there is no way i'm buying what they are currently trying to pass off.

  2. I have been thinking about getting the D40 for my son for Christmas. Did you get it with the kit lens (18 - 55mm)? Did you use this lens for the shot?

    Usil

yeah i got the camera with a 1gb sandisk extreme 3 card for only £403 from jessops in the uk all together. I got a price match from some obscure website lol and then the guy behind the till screwed it up giving me a further £25 off, sweet!

Yeah i did use the 18-55 lens for this shot, its the only lens i have whilst i'm still very much an amatuer.

Thanks for the settings rolli, i'll give it a go this weekend (working long days means i see very little daylight in the week lol)

  3. Eversince I got to know Panerai, I wasn't into it at all, initially. Somehow, I was bitten by PAM bug and bought 063 GMT( which I'm trying to change hands set and relume). I've been reading threads about PAM111h and many were waitiing for Davidsen's ultimo 111h. I'm stilll new to PAM but according to spec, he took care of canon pinion issue, crown guard, sapphire w/ AR. He confirmed that it is indeed swiss movement w/ mod. Not a chinese copy. SInce, I have GMT, I want to get simple and classic PAM, which to me , it is 111h. I would like to get PAM experts' opinion about plunging on this one. Thanks in advance.

It looks like a great watch and Davidsen is a pleasure to deal with from experience.

Suffers from the age old font problems which still give it away on inspection though.

  4. Some of you may have read my first post about this watch. After first recieving it, it appeared to die after only a couple of hours... But, miraculously the rep gods were looking down on me and she sprung back to life and has been working great ever since :Jumpy:

Davidsen was a pleasure to deal with and offered to have it sent back for a replacement, top notch!

The good man even threw in a free LW Suisse tan strap too. Major thumbs up :thumbsupsmileyanim:

    Here are a few pics.

  5. I've just recieved my PAM fidddy which I've been looking forward to for ages.

After only 2 hours it wont work any more. It stopped and I can't wind the crown and more, it moves for like a millimeter then i feel some resistance which pushes it back.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? If so, what was the cure?

    Thanks

    :wounded1::(

  6. Wow, it seems you go through a hell of a lot of effort to keep your customers happy, for that you should definately be congratulated. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

After reading all of that, you are definately my dealer of choice for my next rep, which hopefully will be brought sometime in the very near future, once I get some more disposable cash lol.

OT, you seem to quote some prices in GBP. Are you actually located in the UK or just an ex-pat?

  7. On another forum i frequent, the is a system called 'trust' which i presume is an add-on to the forum code.

It essentially allows a feedback system to be put in place, so when a seller completes a transaction, they report on the buyer, be it positive, negative or neutral.

Something like that would be a good system to have here i think.

The sellers could then say they will only take WU payment until the user has a feedback or 2 or 3 positives or something like that.

  8. True, and yet that is the inherent problem with ebay. If someone says its a replica the auction gets cancelled right away, while the seller that insists its genuine (despite photos that show otherwise) will usually be left alone. Ultimately its buyer beware, if it seems to good to be true - it probably is.

    Very true.

If the price is circa $200-300 then you've got to be a fool to think that you are buying a gen for that amount of money.

But then again, as the saying goes. "a fool and his money are easily parted"
