  1. Bah, far too complicated for me. I rarely play this game, but on the rare occasions that I do, my response to "How much did you pay for this watch" is the very honest "Less than I could have, but more than I should have.

Aha, but here is a monkey in the wrench, Emperor style:

"Hey, nice watch? Is it real?"

"No, it's a fake and I bought it in Chinatown for twenty bucks."

"Twenty bucks? Give me the watch, lemme see."

"No way, dude! You'll scratch it and I paid a lot of money for it."

The guy then perceived the $20 answer as a joke, and because he won't be allowed to handle it he would have reason to believe it is indeed real. The conversation continues.

"Come on, how much did you really pay for it?"

"I'll say that I spent a lot of money for it. Let's leave it at that, OK?"

Of course, we can argue that $600 was indeed a lot of money for a watch, so we would be telling the truth there. Of course, $600 is nowhere near "a lot" as $20,000. However, $600 alone is a lot, but we can argue that it is nothing to a billionaire.

"Did you spend $20,000 for it?"

"Keep guessing, dude, but I'll say that it's somewhere near it."

$600 is far closer to $20,000 than a million, so we can argue that it is indeed "somewhere near it."

Use some of the Emperor's tactics and it'll drive guys crazy.

  2. In my experience, the 7750's w/the standard 6-9-12 layout are all quite reliable. Any issues that might occur will generally manifest in the first week. Once you make it past that first week, I've had exactly zero fail.

What this tells me is that the movement itself is stable and quite reliable, but there is always the possibility of getting one that has bad QA during assembly, or got knocked around during transit, but these problems show up almost immediately. I don't baby my watches, and the 7750's have held up very well.

Just remember don't set the date when the time is between 10pm and 2am, as it will f-up your movement. This is for swiss AND asian 7750's, just a part of their design.

  3. I'd agree that Muller is feminine, but Cartier is more metrosexual than truly feminine. I like the Santos and the Roadster, they have style.

I like both gold and bling in some instances. If I'm going clubbing or bar hopping in a hip/trendy part of town, I have no problem putting one of these on:

If you are going to wear dressy/trendy/flashy clothes, might as well have a watch to match.

On the other hand, if I'm going out to a nice restaurant, or a cigar bar, or if I'm traveling on business, I'd go with more toned down style watches like:

Casual, jeans or shorts and a t-shirt might find me wearing these:

But then other times I want something kinda crazy, so I pick one of these:

So, you see, a single watch does not define me. I think different watches express different things, and even crazy looking watches have their place. Even bling and gold can work very well, especially if the drinks are flowing, the music is loud, and you are in the midst of lots of young, beautiful people. Context man, it's all about context.
