I think the 220 is a gen also. I love my 220 rep, but it has a few small flaws that this watch doesn't have.

I sounds to me like supermanx uses the putty to hold the bezel insert in place and flat so he can use a drill or dremel with a fine sanding wheel to take material off the back.

Is that right?

I was very happy with the bezel insert I got from Raymond Lee on the bay and it was under $20 shipped. Takes a little work getting it on but the quality is vastly better then the rep.

I have one of these bezel inserts on the way. I've heard people saying you need to take some material off the back to fit them in a rep. I was hoping you could give me more detail on how this is done without damaging the bezel insert. Thanks

I bought my wife a gen Rolex datejust. Why would I buy her a gen Rolex when I only buy myself reps you ask? Simple... because I love wearing my reps and when I am seen with her and her gen Rolex that she wears all the time, no one would ever question that the watch I am wearing (whether its a Pam, Rolex or IWC) is a rep. It makes my reps more believable.

I'm sure Andrew wants to out this guy as much as we want him to, but there is still the open paypal complaint against Andrew that has to be resolved. If Andrew loses his paypal priveledges then it hurts his business and all of us... big time.

I think the best thing to do is to appeal to this guys sense of decency to withdraw the complaint against Andrew. He has to know that Andrew has a spotless record on rwg, rwi and trc and will always make good on his word. Come on dude, we know you're reading this, do the right thing!

Sorry, I just see patterns others don't. It's great for puzzle-solving but can make linear tasks tricky.

I just read on Paneristi that they heard about our rep toy pianos and they are all going to buy gen toy pianos to stay one step ahead of us... damn those guys!!!

I missed the "OFFICNE" Wow. Just goes to show how close the 027 reps are to the gens.

It seems orologicom is really trying to pass it off as a gen with the high opening bid price, the box and papers, and of course this statement: "This time piece is 100% authentic & original!!"

I always thought the Pam 027 was only available in SS case with black (non-hobnail) face and the Pam 028 was only available in PVD case with hobnail face. But then I found this watch on Ebay listed as a Pam 027 A series: Pam 027 on Ebay

It has the SS case and the hobnail face. I could not find this watch on any of the Panerai watch references. It looks too good to be a rep, so what gives?

Nope. I'm still here. There was a mix-up with my usernames. I accidently registered two accounts-- mackdaddy7 and mackdaddy. The admin deleted my mackdaddy7 account so now I'm just mackdaddy.

You know, people need to call the dealers on this board out on some of that crap. I've always been annoyed by the "synthetic sapphire" = mineral glass nonsense, and now the "light AR" = no AR. I am not thrilled by the "perfect" and "1:1" stuff either. That's not marketing spin as some people claim, it's just not true.

OK. Instead of "perfect" and "1:1" maybe the dealers should just be honest and say "Flawed rep with X, Y and Z problems." I bet they would sell a lot more watches. Remember... our dealers are just salesman and they try to get us excited about their products. We all know not to expect perfect reps because there is no such thing.

Are the subdials on the EL version all recessed? Some of the pictures make it look like they are not. All three subdials on the gen are clearly recessed. Otherwise, I think the EL version looks great.

Also, there have been some pretty good reviews of the new Asian 7750b movement. Has it gotten to the point where the upgrade to Swiss 7750 may not be worth it?

I think it looks much better with the tan strap than with the rubber one. I thought the 187 was not for me, but after seeing these pics, I am reconsidering.

Before I bought my first Panerai rep I went to an AD to check them out in person. There really is something weird that happens when you first hold one and put it on your wrist.

I agree that most people don't know what they are, but I think the popularity in the rep world will only help them gain popularity among everyday folks. Oh... that and the fact that every Hollywood star seems to be wearing one lately.
