  1. Well as soon as I purchased my DSSD from trevor ,I Had a winding problem sent it to Vac for a check and a upgrades...low and behold there was a broken screw which caused a skip in the winding of the watch... instead of a smooth wind it would wind smooth 2 or 3 times then skip like a chain on a bicycle sprocket..Vac recommended I send it back to Trevor....or He could remove the bridge....rather than go thru all the trouble and expense in sending it back...I told Vac to remove the bridge and I just wind the watch every 2 days or so.

I guess next time Ill have to buy from BK....Thought saving a 100.00 or so would be worth it ..turns out not so.

  2. So if you have a working HEV on a rep does that mean it is water proof to swimm with or should one have it water tested??

Orrrrrrrr is it best to just have it sealed??? Thanks

  3. What size tool do I need and where can I purchase to open the back of my dssd I see my tools for the rolex are too small.

Great looking watch you have there sir....I do not have a digital cam or I would show you my watch from trevor.

Im having it waterproofed ,relume ,pearl replaced and AR done soon.

Question is it me or is the dome crystal quite glaring??

I do not like the glare that is put off when trying to read the time and it just doesnt seem like it should have this problem when trying to read the time....so I thought that I would have it AR ,I guess it is a personal choice..has anyelse done this to the DSSD?? thanks

  4. Since you are in Texas, you should see if Vaccum can do it. He's a good modder/servicer in your area.

Yeah,I have been trying to reach vaccum .... do you know how to reach him as I would like to waterproof and service.

I have a question the lume is great blue thru and thru but it only lasts for a few minutes....if I have it relumed will this take care of having a longer lasting blue lume???

    Thanks

  5. Just a note here to say I have received my dssd from Trevor and ordered it and recieved in about 10 days time and I am happy watch looks great and the lume is perfect and match hour markers and hands.

The winding of the crown stem is alittle jagged when winding the watch..similar to a chain slipping on your bicycle sprocket. My 3 other dssd where smooth in the winding...Has any here now what that is??

My 1st dssd looked great blue lume matched and all...then I sold it not knowing that most rep do not match...in the hour and hand markers...SO IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A GREAT WATCH OUT OF THE BOX..TREVOR Time is the one....Though others here have a different view my experience is good...well ...we'll see is the winding is going to be a problem.

  6. Hello all ,well I received my dssd from trevor and I happy as a lark finally the blue lume is consistant on the hour hand and markers. Great looking bold white markers on the bezel....only question I have is the winding of the crown stem seems a little

jagged not smooth in the winding like my 4 other reps I had.

But the lume is great ... I will probly send to have water proofed..who here can water proof??

    Thanks again....

  7. Thanks for your replies ..yes I was told that too as they parts come from different palces but assembled in one place...Just seems like you come find a uniformed too outsource so that all dssd's are equal in stature.. I know the lume is expensive ......but I would rather pay more and have it done right.

I my first DSSD was great it was actually blue...then I sold it ...not knowing that there is a difference from one place than another...I guess I was lucky on my 1st DSSD..I wished now I had not sold it ....

Well I guess my next venture will to be to Zigmeister do the deed...any Idea what the cost is to have this done and how long will I be with my timepeice??

    Thanks guys for your reply.

  8. Hi all , It has been awhile since I have been here as I have purchased a few rollie rep's.... Why is the lume not blue on the hour markers( it is green) ....Yet the blue lume is blue on a the hour hands????

I have seen very few true blue lumes..so my question is where can I get a dssd with true blue lume on hands and hour markers??

where can I purchase a dssd v5 with true blue lume??

Looks like the watch was put together with different parts from other watches and I am wondering why there is not a more uniform look in consistantsy from watch to watch....

    Thanks for any input

  9. Someone I know recently purchased the Rolex DSSD "Ultimate" V5 from one of our "Cartel" dealers. It's an excellent rep. Well, just the other day, while at work, he had it on a bit too tight and when he twisted his wrist to pick up a heavy box, snap, the DSSD just fell off his wrist onto the floor. Luckily, it fell on its side and did not damage the crystal or bezel and the movement seems unaffected. When he showed it to me, the "Glidelock" was clean broken at a portion that attaches to the curved part that has the word "Rolex" inscribed on it surrounded by some artistic lines.

Upon looking at it, I just thought, "Well, it is a rep, after all." But, when I got home, I researched the issue and found that his actually has happened to gen owners of this type of the clasp. Of particular interest was a 10 page thread on the Rolex forum where a gentleman had kindly provided close up pictures of the mishap. He claims that he was just wearing it normally - perhaps a bit tight, I bet - when he flexed his wrist, it snapped in the exact same spot as my buddy's rep DSSD clasp.

It turns out that Rolex simply used spot welding on a very weak and crucial part of the bracelet. Imagine this happens to you while diving; the watch would be gone! Anyway, I provided some pics that actually come from the original thread on said forum.

Here, you can notice where the gen watch clasp failed. On the rep, it failed on both weld areas. You can see the area that indicates a spot weld on the detail enlargement picture to the right; essentially a crater is left behind. [Note: The pictures above are all from the gen Glidelock clasp, NOT the rep.]

This a diagram from Rolex pertaining to the Glidelock clasp design.

Yes ..wow my GMT ll and my brother's basel sub broke in exactlyt he same place ...I thought the same ..rep or no rep I have only had the watch less than 6 months for both models... Funny ..I placed a drop of epoxy and placed the pin back in and works great. But I am disappointed as you were.

  10. Thanks , need to hear the opinion of others , I was just wondering..i have a rep but it is hard to see you can see it with the naked eye BUT only under close

scrutinizing and if it is off my wrist and you tilt it this way and that...still difficult...true I never look at others or do I care even the mag is no big deal to me anyway.

I was just curious as to why some here have it on the models and some do not.... Thanks

  11. Because the reps are not gens. What you can do is replace the cyclops.

That is my point why go thru the hassle and just offer the the whole shabang instead of having a time consuming project.

I would much rather pay to have it done than buy a watch and then have to rebuild....or is that the fun of it all????

  12. Why is it so difficult to get a 2.5 mag and yet you can not have the etched coronet at the 6:00 position.

Clark crystal....???? can someone not etch these clark crystals as they do the ones with 1.5 mag???

this is confusing to me as to why you can either have this but not that...since rolex has both feature, why not the reps come as gen as possible????
