  1. You just sold me on this watch. I was looking for the version with the red GMT hand though. does PT sell that one?

How much does PT charge for this watch? i'm assuming they're a reliable seller?

can you change the bezels (from black to pepsi for example)? if so, where can you find those? is the PT version actually swiss movement? and how do you know if you're ordering CHS or WHS?

thanks ahead of time, and thanks for putting together such a thorough review.

  2. well for the moment i went with a jackson watch. i would, however, like to find a place that sells a 112-type sandwich dial (prefer that '12) and definitely plan to redo the loom on the numbers (hands are fine). the strap that came with it is a lot nicer than i thought. i do have a strap culture strap on order already tho. build quality seems great, especially for what it cost. not sure how long it will last, but at the price jackson charges, they're practically disposable.

what mods would you suggest doing do the watch?

    please pardon the iPhone pics

  3. thanks for the responses all.

does Davidsen make non-branded dials? I think I actually prefer that. I know i'm on RWG, but i'd feel more comfortable wearing a non-branded homage watch than a fake Panerai.

I have bought from Jackson Tse in the past, and his customer service and pricing are top notch. As far as I know, he doesn't do replicas, but strictly homages. Like Houndoggie said, it properly doesn't stack up to a DSN piece, but for 1/5 of the price, I was more than satisfied from what I got from him.

Stuff from Jackson is a great way to "try out" if a certain style PAM watch/look is going to work for you.

  4. I've reached out to Davidsen on a few occasions and haven't heard back from him. I heard another forum referring to Jackson watches. Has anyone dealt with them? How are their reps?

Also, is there a good resource for a place to buy a black 112 sandwich dial?

    thanks!

  5. sorry to add to this post again. I did receive a response from davidsen. it looks like his watch is roughly $100 more than the watcheden version. what would i gain for spending the extra money? here is a picture he sent me. what are some tell-tale signs this is a fake? from what i've been reading here, the thing that stands out to me is the screw by the winder not being flush. what about the screw holding the hands? should that be the same color as the hands?

  6. is there a 'common mods' thread by chance? what are some things people typically do?

from searching around other threads, it seems as though people redo the lume, do something with a pin (?), grind down some screw, and what else?

i've also seen multiple comments on DSN. i found two of his websites/blogs. neither contain a whole lot of information. am i missing how to contact him/purchase from him? what do his watches typically go for? what makes them the 'best'?

i was looking at this watch at watcheden:

    http://www.watcheden.com/panerai-luminor-b...-23854-p-1.html

good deal or can i find better elsewhere? was hoping its price meant it was a higher quality unit so i could wear it right out of the box with a new strap. and once i become more comfortable i can mod parts of it here and there later if necessary. what are some tell-tale signs the above posted watch is a rep? how can they be corrected?

again, thanks for all the insight!

  7. Extremely new here and to Panerai watches. I've read multiple posts and it seems as though most of you are modding the watches. Why? I couldn't find any good answers using the search function.

Any insight would be appreciated as I'm looking to purchase a 112 or 111 in the near future. Ideally I'd like to get something that is an accurate reproduction and works properly.

    Cheers,

    M
