Talking about this watch: http://www.trustywatchguy.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=30_191&products_id=5721
I'm curious how good the AR is and if it's really such a finely decorated Swiss ETA. How about lume, is it just rep lume?
I'm trying to decide between this and one of Vac's 3717s.
Anybody know what the diff between the link above and this is:

I'm not sure you understand.
1. IWC before 2007 did the seconds at 6 modification as well replace parts and do extra QC that greatly decreased internal friction.
2. Post 2007, ETA did the modifications for 6 without all the extra QC that IWC did. This has to do with ETA stopping shipments of ebauches and as a cost saving measure for IWC.
Yes, it used to be IWC did the modification themselves before 2007. After then, IWC has been receiving fully modified movements completed from ETA and not doing their own set of modifications and QC.
Pushers look definitely shallower than a gen:

Hmm gen sitting on my wrist right now
The pushers are definitely taller. The crown cuts also don't seem quite as deep or sharp. Very nice rep though.
I'm curious if the movements Concepta are getting are post or pre 2007. In 2007 IWC started receiving fully made movements from ETA and they don't modify them anymore. Pre 2007 IWC only received ETA ebauche kits and did all the modifications and extra QC themselves.
These are great reps. The 0 on the 10 always kills me on these though. It's like the B in EBEL. Almost all the reps have these two markers applied on crookedly.
Great pics. Like most reps, its the dial face that always doesn't do it for me. The markers seem to be not aligned with the numbers and the 12 applied marker seems to be slightly crooked. The only applied marker dial face I've seen that is just as stunning and perfect as the gen has been the Ebel 1911 Panda chrono. The only problem with those is that of 3 I've bought in the past, ALL of them had a crooked B in EBEL.
It also seems the date wheel isn't centered but that should hopefully be not too bad of a fix.
There seems to be lots of reports that the 2836 ETAs modded to be GMT isn't the best solution out there. Apparently the mods break down easily and they're a pain to work on even in the incorrect hand stack versions.
Has this been your experience?
Is there any way to fit a 2893 which is designed by ETA to be a GMT movement into a current GMT rep case?
I'm thinking about putting together a franken GMT but the movement bothers me.
Yup, you're right. it seems the primary problem in fitting the gen dial is the gen dial is too small? The rehaut is at a 75 degree angle in the gen but the rep case is 90 degrees. Does that mean then the dial doesn't cover the dial opening on the rep case?
