  1. Want to talk us through your process? I've got that exact model sitting on my wrist right now and have been intending to vintage it up for a few weeks now.
  2. This seller has never sold any thing before and the only things hes bought have been under $25. That to me is a huge red flag. I might still try and buy if its an absolute bargin but id be taking every possible pre-caution.
  3. Yeah if they are that good, I'd consider getting one just for Paypal use.
  4. Surely the first person to ask would be Josh?
  5. John, while in principle I agree with your theory I dont think is acurate in practice. A couple of months ago I bought a 39 diamond Monaco on ebay. It didnt get a single other bid (and I put my bid in with 2 seconds to go), this was because the seller was fairly new and had written a terrible listing. People didnt trust him. Within 3 months I'd sold it for more than twice what I paid, through watchfinder.co.uk. I paid with my CC through paypal, it was being shipped within the UK with full tracking, signature and insurance so felt like I had a decent ammount of protection. As I knew the watch was worth more than double what I was paying, the risk was more than worth it. The risk of getting scammed wasnt above 50% (IMO), so basically, 'the market' was completely wrong Now im not trying to boast or say I know better than others. I'm just saying I think there are times where the profit out-weighs the risk. Which is why I'd really like to hear more stories about specific experiences. 'Paypal sucks they will scam you' is good and all, but lets hear the story that gave people that attitude and maybe how it could be avoided, if at all?
  6. Thanks for the reply Dan. I once bought a pair of boots on ebay which were decribed as 'good' condition. When they arrived they had a hole in the sole big enough for me to put my finger through. After the seller said 'shut up cowboy cant change mind now' I opened a dispute and got my money back... So i guess it varies. I'm wondering if people have specific experiences in regards to gen/rep watches.
  7. Hi folks, I've been buying and selling on ebay for about 10 years and have bought 1 gen watch on there (a diamond monaco which I re-sold for profit). I was just wondering if anyone had experiences buying gens on ebay, which turned out to be fake, and if paypal resolved the matter properly? I often see watches at great prices being sold by some pretty suspect looking sellers and so don
  8. Could someone who thinks an A 7750 is a deal-breaker drop some knowledge about why they think it is?
  9. Because the seconds at 3 version of the 7750 is what? Fragile? Inaccurate? Im still learning about movements.
  10. "The new one would be use asian 7750 movement." Interesting.
  11. The most important thing when buying a rep is that you think its absolutely awesome. Which you clearly do. So good work! Enjoy glancing at your wrist every 2 minutes for the next 3 months After that it might go down to every 5 minutes ...
  12. I dont think any of us are expecting perfection. Personally I'd be happy(ish) with a better looking quartz rep.
  13. Yeah me too Paul. I dont want to get tooooo excited. But i am
  14. Oh my. I'm not into Pams but i think that 6152 has just converted me. Its STUNNING ... i'm over on RG right now looking at VDBroucke's stock.
  15. Hey all. Just had an interesting message from King, we were talking about a couple of things and she included the following line (she knows im a Monaco freak). "And about the Tag Heuer Monaco already get back original. It was marking now. When the watch made finish. I will let you know first and get first one." As usual its a little hard to decipher, I assume that "marking" should be "making". So who knows, maybe we'll have a new (hopefully decent) rep in a couple of months. If so i'll write a damn comprehensive review
  16. You know what, I'm really loving the look of those Cores: http://bp3.blogger.com/_GQ9jVpYbVtI/SJHWNklOClI/AAAAAAAAAKU/R6yPTmx9tAo/s1600-h/Cores.jpg That brown/white/black combo is very nice and the orange/black could be sweeeeet on a nato. Perhaps a little flashy for the 3rd world but it works as a sporting watch for me. Would be happy to wear that around hardcore downhill riders I'm still thinking about picking up a bell and ross for music festivals and camping and such. Ie where Ill get hell dirty but im not doing anything high impact
  17. Lots of good advice in there. 2 different watches may be necessary but I guess I was hopeing one would do for both as the principal characteristic is they need to be tough. Anyone ever seen a square-ish PVD or power coated digital on a nylon / nato strap?
  18. If you want a leather band but dont want the one that comes with it (because of the bad reports), keep in mind that the clasp on the SS braclet wont work on a leather strap. My dealer threw an extra deployment clasp in for free at my request when I got my Day-Date Carrera, but you may need to order one. Thats assuming you want to use a deloyment and keep it looking like a gen.
  19. Yeah obviously im not going to be looking for ETA parts in a small indian village... but if it dies I can always repair when I get home. Thanks for that tip jdkno, i acutally kinda like the look of the white version and at $200 the price is very agreeable.
  20. I guess I realised all along it might come down to those kind of options, i just didnt want to admit it to myself. I only got into watches about a year ago and the big relevation that causes it was that they didnt all have to look like G Shocks and T Touch's... So it makes seriously considering buying one of those chucky plasticy digital and quartz jobs very hard for me. Maybe I'll just buy the Bell & Ross and replace it everytime i smash it. Atleast if i get an ETA version I can have the movement repaired. Will post and let you guys know if someone cuts my arm off for it ...
  21. Yeah for some reason I've never been a fan of those Seiko's. I like chunky looking watches but they still need some refinement. Those kinda look like a kid's toy Something like this might be okay: Could anybody offer some advice as to the actual water resistance of that Bell and Ross? I dont have any experience with the quality of reps in that area. Should I feel confident going for a swim with it on?
  22. Hi guys, I'm wondering if some of you folks might like to give me your opinions on a watch to wear for things like downhill biking, rock climbing, etc. I'm thinking something in PVD with a nylon strap that can take some rough treatment. Am I expecting a little too much out of a rep for this? Would going with a cheap gen quartz make more sense? Additionally I do quite a bit of travel in poor countries and would like to use the same watch for this purpose. I'm currently planning trips from Edinburgh to Cairo overland (across top of Africa) and from Shanghai to Pakistan following the coastline through SE Asia and the sub continent (6+ months trip). In a lot of these places I will definitely not want to be wearing a Rollie/Breitling/Tag or anything identifiable as being valuable (even if its a rep). The only problem is I cant completely throw away my sense of style and love of mechanical watches ... So, I'm thinking about a Bell and Ross 03-92. I dont think this screams "This westerner is wearing a
  23. Yeah im considering switching to a europe based dealer. The thing that made me go with a China based one for my first few watches was the fact they were almost 1/3 cheaper than the UK dealer I spoke to (not you) and delivery time was 1 week instead of 3. For the exact same product ... But now i dont have the watch and am waiting around for ages before i get it back, so I'll consider a UK based one for my next few orders.
