  1. Sure will take some Lyme shots tonight once I get home from work. As for the rubber strap that comes on the 177, I believe it is 24/22, but I'll check and re-confirm later again.
  2. i would pick the 177L.. just feels more gen-like, though to be fair the 111J is not shabby at all.. got these from Tony at http://www.asian7750.com he's selling the 177L at $198 plus shipping.
  3. thanks guys. glad the pics were useful. yes, at the $200 price point, the 177L is seriously a no-brainer. @ST4, yes the font is definitely not white. the gen's font is ivory in color. the 111J rep dial scores a home run in that respect, while 177L's font color is still off.
  4. EMS came through just in time for christmas was a little worried about the shipping delays during the festive season, but i guess it helps being in Asia and relatively close to China. anyway, the pros and cons on these latest 111J and 177L have been well documented and fiercely debated over, so i shall not go into that. all i want to say is that being an owner of a number of PAM gens currently, i'm absolutely amazed at the quality of these latest reps, especially the 177L. and honestly for the money they're asking for, it's a no brainer. they are extremely good out of the box, very decent lume, though the more nitpicky ones will always find something to mod/improve. but for the general population, i'd just say change out the rep strap and put on a quality pair of shoes and you're good to go. i'd probably wear these for a while, before cannabalising some of the parts for future projects. might even pick up a couple more of these just for the caseset since it sure is a pretty damn good caseset. anyway, on to the pics... hope you like them
  5. just to add my 2 cents in case you're still part hunting.. 1. Correct datewheel is pretty hard to source on its own, though I know of a fellow local member who managed to get 2 such correct 7734 datewheels at a steal but his seller does not have any more stock of the datewheels. your best chance is probably to find another movement or donor watch that has the correct datewheel, and then try to sell off your existing movement with the roulette datewheel. 2. I've used a rep 7836 folded links bracelet with rep 358 endlinks, taken off a 1655 McQueen rep that's easily available from Josh/Andrew or other dealers. Fits the DW case like a glove and did not require any modding. 3. The correct gen crown is a 24-700 twinlock crown. It's pretty easy to find the gen crown at a decent price, but the gen tube is a b*tch to source for at a good price. A fellow RWG member, marsupilami had made some tubes to fit the gen 24-700 twinlock crown, which is what i'm using to fit my gen crown though it does require some modding to fit. just to share on my build.. DW case + dial + hands, gen 24-700 crown, gen T128 crystal, rep 7836 bracelet with 358 ELs.. couple more minor tweaks left to go (Yuki hands, gen springbars)..
  6. well, i must say this is a mighty fine modded 187. visually, i'd say it's a good 90-95% close to gen. you are right about the two-toned lume. i have a gen 187, and my dial markers are developing a nice patina ahead of the hands, thus emphasising a two-toned effect. probably the only visual difference i can pick out from your pics is that the rep 187 dial seems to have "coarser" concentric rings in the sub-dials, while the gen 187 subdials have much finer concentric rings, such that the subdials almost appear to have a flat smooth texture to the naked eye. some pics of my 187 below to show the finer concentric rings in the subdials: couple more pics to share of my gen 187, and i'll say again yours sure looks pretty close to the real deal!
  7. very solidly built watch, wears very well on the wrist for a 42mm watch (this coming from a PAM wearer). love the raised markers on the dial, and the dial to get is the grey with black sub-dials. great watch for the money to be honest. here're some pics of mine:
  8. frankly, i picked these up primarily for the casesets which look pretty good for the price. i reckon in another couple of months, both watches will end up getting disassembled for other projects
  9. Stupid iPhone text correction.. Shouting = shouldn't
  10. I pay $20 for EMS shipping (to Singapore). Prob a little more if you're in CONUS or EU, but shouting be more than what cartel charges.
  11. it's just dust on the protective sticker on the crystal

  16. absolutely.. i wear what my mood dictates, be it rep or gen.. to the point that sometimes i'm not even conscious if i'm wearing rep or gen
  17. it's wednesday here already, but what the heck.. strapping on the Subzilla today
  18. very pretty indeed Pete! i've been shopping for a custom JV for my 288 as well, so this might be it! care to PM me the price?
  19. Thanks guys. Yes, a nice pool is a must to survive in this hot, humid climate in Singapore Maybe I'll do a poolside shoot of the watch over the weekend, if the weather holds up. It's actually the monsoon rainy season right now.
