  1. Sup Puffy,

the lume is fantastic and lasts for an hour, maybe an hour and a half, if you have it in the sunlight for just a few minutes, or under a bright light... The case on the blue sub is the 42mm (oversize case) which I love! It feels SOOOO heavy, in a way, almost tooooo heavy but I'm not going to complain :-P I'll take tot heavy over too light anyday. The blue is Swiss ETA (and I confirmed this after my friend, who is a jewler and sized the watch for me, opened it and checked - he also did pressure testing... both are +- 100 feet, which is all I really need) the green lv however is the asian 21J and I don't think its the hi-beat movement I believe its the 21.6 but it's still FANTASTIC... The build quality is everything to me and these didn't feel like "cheap knockoffs" by any means. These felt just fantastic. It's only been 24 hours but the time seems to be running perfectly... I think the asian might be adding about a minute a day or so but thats something I can fix with my jewler.

    Cheers,

    Jeremiah

looks nice, what's the Blue Sub, looks like the oversize case? :D

what's the lume like and how is the timekeeping?

is it ETA or Asian movement?

    cheers

  2. Hey there guys! As promised, here are some pictures of my first two rolex submariners... I bought these from a vendor that isn't listed on RWG or RWI but I was totally impressed with them... Out of respect for the administrators of this site, I will not disclose the vendor publicly since he is not a "recommended vendor." (He is not on the list of scam sites either though). If you really want to know where I purchased them from and you can't contain yourself, simply pm me and I will tell you. But in the meantime, check these suckers out...

In my opinion, not one of these pictures does the watch any justice... I was speachless after I held these suckers! They feel perfectly built (heavy), and the color is just spectacular... Side note : I took both watches swimming today, and as promised by the vendor, they are all waterproofed up to 30m (which is very important to me).

I have to thank everyone here at RWG and RWI for bearing with me over the past couple of weeks... Thanks to your patience and prompt replies I was able to get some very good quality watches at a great price. Thanks again to all you folks!

I have a YM and a TT blue sub comming from Eurotimez, when those arrive I will definently share them too! :-)

  3. Marty,

It's rumored on here, and other forums, that the noobfactory (place of assembly) submariners are the best quality for the price BAR NONE. for about 100 bucks you get a high-grade, well assembled, absolute beauty... In my book thats not to shabby... So I guess you could call it the style of a manufaturor, or there assembly style...

    Cheers,

    Jeremiah

What exactly does "noobfactory" mean. Is it a style of manufacture? Additionally, what does the term "closed factory" mean, other than the obvious?

    Thanks, Marty

  4. Hey guys!

I have fallen in love with trustytime's website over the past couple of days and I'm thinking about getting a few "noobs" from him. Can anyone here in the community confirm that he does in fact sell real "noobfactory" stuff and how is his quality? Any feedback on Andrew and his submariners in particular would really help me make this purchase :-)

I love this place!!! Were have you guys been for the last 10 years of my life?! :-P

  5. As alligoat says, there are normally 3 points where water can get into a watch, caseback, stem seal/crown, and crystal.

After WP testing, you would have an idea of the area where it was leaking. Then you need to inspect that area to discover why.

Sometimes greasing or replacing a seal is all it takes, other times it is just not possible to seal the watch.

Each has its own characteristics. (Note that chronos have extra points of entry at the pushers, and these are sometimes VERY difficult to seal)

Crystals are another area where a seal is sometimes difficult to obtain. Most reps have push fit crystals with nylon seals, and if these get a nick they can prove very difficult. In a lot of cases, I replace the crystal with a larger one, discard the nylon seal, and glue the crystal into place. Not exactly how the manual says to go, however very effective, and time efficient.

Also check for porous cases; I have been seeing more and more, where air is leaking through pin holes in the case metal. Epoxy will make the case WP, but it will never be pressure proof!

    Offshore

Thanks for the reply's guys... Well I guess the real question that we are trying to ask is how can we have these proofed without doing it ourselves... I'm a watch buyer not watch smith... Any help in this REGARD would be very helpful!

I basically want to be able to pay someone to do what you just explained above... if it costs 100 or something I'll do that... Is there someone on this forum that will do that?

    Cheers,

    Jeremiah

  6. Ok, forgive my ignorance, but I was told a few times on this forum that any "watchsmith" can waterproof a watch... And that this was done by "greasing the seal and the pin or something like that"...

Now after your help in finding a watch smith, I went ahead and called up your referrals and 3 others of my own... Every single watchsmith told me that all we can do is "pressure test" the watch, and making a watch "waterproof" is not something we do.... They also said, whether a watch will be waterproof or not totally depends on the "build or assembly" of the watch.... Now this is completely contrary to what I've been told...

I swim in every one of my watches, and always will... What am I missing here and why am I getting different information?

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah

  7. I'll be there dude! Thanks!

    Jeremiah,

There are at least four good watchsmiths in Houston who provide service to our members' watches. Which is good for you may simply depend on where you live in Houston and in which part of the city is a conveniently located watchsmith.

I use the watchsmith at The Masters's Workshop, 1410 Blalock, 714.468.1472. They have always been very competent and reasonable. I have never asked them to waterproof a watch, however; so I don't kniow their capacity to do that specific thing for you.

I know there is another in the Sharpstown area and another in the Galleria area, but I don't have the specifics on those folks.

Come see us at our next GTG in Houston. If you haven't sorted out a watch repair service supplier by them, several members at the GTG will be able to provide you alternatives.

    Best wishes and good luck.

  8. Hey guys,

I just got 3 reps and I'm looking for a local watchsmith who can make these extra water tight (grease and seal them) so I can go swimming in these.... I also need a MVT swapped out... Anyone know a watchsmith in Houston that is capable of that, and won't charge me my arm and leg?

    Thanks!

    Jeremiah

  9. Most DateJusts from standard dealers come equipped with sapphire xtals and eta clones (Price is around $240)

Dealers like King allow you to specify what color/type of dial you'd like and they'll request that specific piece / combo from the factory (so at least SOMEONE is looking at it before it ships) ... King can even send pictures of the watch before it ships (if I recall...). I'm sure Josh and Andrew can probably accommodate requests for your favorite dials, etc...

SS DateJusts are pretty good (underrated) buys IMHO... I wouldn't get a rep DD just because the difference in metals and weight is obvious.

Thanks for that reply very helpful! But who is King and the other two people that you mentioned? How can I reach them?

Also, Which dealer (websites) would you recommend for a DJ SS...

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah

  10. I know all about WM9's masterpieces!

So the SS DJ's that are around 100-150 dollars are the real weight? What I'm looking for is a Datejust dealer that assembles them with the best case and crystal (BEST PARTS) besides WM9.... Anyone else besides Watcheden that you recommend? I guess the price of 100 bucks kind of scares me that its so cheap.. Must be like a mineral glass that scratches VERY easily... I want better parts... Is there someone like that out there besides blkm and wm9...

    Thanks,

    Jeremiah

wellll...you're not going to get the "weight" of those platinum or gold DJ's... BUT if you're looking for steel... then you're in luck!

you can either spend 300-650$ on a wm9 watch WM9 selection of DJ's

these are pretty much the best reps...

If you're looking for something between 100-250$ then watcheden has some nice DDII's and others daydate II's

goodluck!! post pics when you get them :)

  11. Hey guys,

I have to start off by thanking you guys again, I mean, If I didn't come across this forum I probably would have been "taken" for another $1500 already. This forum has been nothing short of spectacular and I am just totally blown away by the plethora of information it contains! Thanks for your help on all my submariner questions, I finally bought 2 of them from Chris at Eurotimez and upon there arrival expect many pictures to be loaded up! (I want to contribute to this party!)

Now that I've ordered the subs, I've always wanted a nice Datejust, but my biggest problem is finding one with the quality (weight) that I want... Who would you guys recommend for a quality DJ, or even a DD for that matter... Accuracy of the dial is not as important as high end stainless steel (good weight) and high end crystal... I've heard watcheden thrown around in a few discussions and I've heard timeshops but the last watch I bought from houseofsouviniors felt cheap to me, and that's not what I'm looking for.

Any help in this matter would, as usual, be GREATLY appreciated! Cheers guys!

Jeremiah (probably the newest guy to the forum lol)

  12. I'm not sure if it's just the quality of the photos, but the grain on the brushed parts of the watches is really noticeable... I'm not too sure I like it... Even though I'm not one for wearing gold or TT, I like how they both look overall, but would prefer to see a different finish to the brushed sections...

Thanks for sharing the pics :)

TeeJay, I completely agree... It looks like it was sanded like CRAZY. I don't think I like that too much...

    Jeremiah

  13. I have been reading so many different threads and each one seems to have a different name for the "crytal" cover over the watch.... So I pose this question... What's the best quality crytal offered on the subs, yachts, and what not now adays... What do gen's use?

I'm buying a couple watches from Chris at Eurotimez, some are noobs some are euro's.. Is the crytal different? Whats the best crytal I can get, that will truely be completely scratch proof.... (Like my gen rolex is)

    Thanks as always guys!

    Jeremiah

  14. I'm so confused! Wow... So basel world is a conference or a show? well if it says a 2008 basel world watch, what's that mean? It's a noobmariner? how do I know the maker of it? Again I ask, what the heck is baselworld.

    Cheers,

    Jeremiah

Are you referring to the ceramic bezel Sub that was shown at the Basel show..

that will not be released until 2010 sometime ??
