  1. What movement is Swatch using here: http://www.amazon.com/Swatch-Irony-Automatic-Watch-YAS100G/dp/B000MLNUBI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=watches&qid=1256907761&sr=1-1
  2. Nikon and Canon were widely derided when they started offering cameras with resin chassis. But these cameras have stood up well and are highly functional. They feel cheap because they are so light. I suspect that this watch will feel the same. The injection molded chassis will not require any secondary machining, a huge labor savings. I doubt it will prove functionally deficient.
  3. The Sinn watch is said to be made in Germany. German law allows that to be said as long as the final assembly is done in Germany. For example, my Walther PPKs pistol was manufactured in Portugal but the grip halves were not screwed in. The grips were screwed in in Germany and they were allowed to say, "Made in Germany". Similarly the 924 Porsche was manufactured in Spain but the seats were not bolted in until they arrived in Germany. Made in Germany. So anything that says "made in Germany" is highly suspect to me. The movement is "automatic" but no further information is listed. Does anyone know anything about this company? http://www.watchbuys.com/store/pc/showSearchResults.asp?VA=0&ProdSort=&iPageCurrent=2&iPageSize=65&PageStyle=p&customfield=&SearchValues=&exact=0&keyword=&priceFrom=0&priceUntil=999999999&idCategory=0&IdSupplier=0&withStock=&IDBrand=17&order=3&SKU=
  4. It's exactly what it says it is. The EU is watching for money launderers and other shady operations. For people not in illicit trade this is not a problem. For the rest of the world it might be. Is it a sworn affidavit? If you lie will you be prosecuted? I think your only option is to fib, but I don't know the nature of the questions.
  5. I don't wear my Rolex rep to work because I don't want to flash any money at work. I got a Breguet rep because I thought no one would recognize it and I liked the looks. A few weeks back a new hire (pretty girl) saw my watch and grabbed my wrist and said, "Let me see that. 'Breguet', hmmm. Never heard of it. I'll have to Google that." Later that day she came up to me and said, "Oh My God! That watch costs like $7,000.00...unless it is platinum...then it's like $27,000.00." So I've not worn that rep to work lately. And I wear the Rolex rep on weekends. So the Breguet rep sits idle. My quartz watches wear (or wear out) the same whether I wear them or not. But what of the automatics? Will my 2 day a week wearing of the Rolex mean that it will last longer? Will my allowing my Breguet to sit idle gum things up?
  6. Here is some solid info on super glues: http://www.inseto.co.uk/insetoadhesives/adhesives/deloca.shtml click the PDF files for detailed information.
  7. A co-worker of mine has a fairly impressive looking Tissot automatic. The Tissots are priced (automatic) from about $350.00 to $2,500.00. See: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_0_18?url=search-alias%3Dwatches&field-keywords=tissot+watches+men+automatic&sprefix=tissot+watches+men I don't know what movement they use however. Their website lists the movements: http://www.tissot.ch/?mod_collections
  8. A crusty old Navy Master Chief found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom was intrigued by the Master Chief and approached him. "Excuse me, Sir....what is your rank?" "Master Chief, Maam," he replied serious faced. "You seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am. Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at the decorations on his chest and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action." "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action." The young lady, tiring of trying to carry the conversation, said, "You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself." The Master Chief just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally the young lady said, "You know, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you had sex?" "1955, ma'am." "Well, there you go. No wonder you're so serious. I mean, no sex since 1955! She took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to "relax" him several times. Afterwards, panting for breath, she said, "Wow, you sure haven't forget much since 1955." The Master Chief said in his serious voice, after glancing at his watch, "I hope not; it's only 2130 now." (Gotta love military time!)
  9. But now the buyer has his account information. Can he do anything nefarious with that information?
  10. Should be "Summer's gone"; not "Summers gone". (It's not gone; it's only moved elsewhere.
  11. A pretty awful thing to do to Nikon optics--even to the UV filter.
  12. Toss all of your watches in one of these and your winding problems are ended. http://geology.com/rock-tumbler/rock-tumblers.shtml
  13. I used to manufacture inexpensive jewelery. I used E-6000 adhesive to bond the stone balls (onyx, malachite, jade, etc.) to the findings. E-6000 is a styrene based adhesive; it maintains a small amount of flexibility (unlike the glues you listed) and it bonds very strongly (much stronger than silicone based adhesives). It is widely used in the jewelery business. You can find small tubes of this stuff at hobby stores (Michael's , etc.) or you can order it on-line. See: http://www.eclecticproducts.com/e6000Industrial.htm It excels at bonding smooth surfaces together. Before it fully cures, the excess can be stripped away with your fingernail (wait until it gets fairly solid before doing this--it will behave like rubber cement at that time.)
  14. When he comes over to ask you if he can be of assistance, say, "I'd really like a Rolex but I only have about $300.00 to spend..."
