Im buying a daytona from overseas.
I have told seller to
1. declare value as $X000
2. insure for $X000
I think this is the safest and I am OK with import duties (seller won't under declare value anyway).
However, my concern is that I read somewhere that you should not declare the item value, because then people will know how valuable the package, which makes it subject to theft!
Any thoughts?? Anyone bought a high value item (close to USD10k) from an overseas seller before?
Thanks!!

does anyone know the length of this strap?
I have small wrists
-
anyone know if there will be a CG upgrade for this?
-
got this too. ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. have a light tan brown strap on it. PERFECTION. the PVD coat is amazing..
after abt 1/2 a day of wearing it, i realized i nicked the watch unknowingly! i was so sad! i then tried rubbing the scratch with my finger, and to my amazement, it rubbed off!!!
Anyone know what upgrades we can do on it? i placed an order for a palp crown...
any way to get a better crown guard?
-
ah i see.. didnt relaly notice that... thanks for showing though..

It doesn't look like it'd fit a GST.
is it coz the bracelet width is different? or is the bracelet width ok, but the lugs are incompatible?
Thanks...

Hi, one of things i LOVE abt IWC is this bracelet:
http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B000DZE0...SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg
Hope to out fit a GST with one of these.
Anyone know a source where i can get one?
Ebay turns up nothing, neither does google...
appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!
-
dude!thanks for the quick reply!
does the b/b1 just mean it has date capabilities?
-
How do u know if your watch has the new or old 7750?
I just ordered a IWC GST ti from EL, and im thinking its the same stock as was on sale In march...
Would this be a new or old 7750?
Thanks guys!

woah finepics, sorry did not realize that you were already almost thru with this!
haha as usual, things arent EVER as simple as i think they are...
anyway great that u've broken the ground regarding the GMT eta date wheels! thanks for that!
would the 2893 wheels work on a 2836 as well?
-
actually whats more important is the font of the date wheel..
i can print out an existing gmt 63 date wheel, scan the "rep" date wheel into the PC, and then use some computer software to overlay the "thicker" numerals exactly on to the fake rep datewheel...
then print it out! that might just work..
-
i saved it as a bmp and jpg. here is the bmp file ... that's the best i can do unless you have any further suggestions? feel free to pm me.
awesome! ok i will try printing it out and see if its any good! i dont have the watch expertise to be able to replace the original date wheel though...
do u noe if the wheel is exactly the same for both the eta 2836 and 2893?
-
btw would u happen to have a higher res scan of this? i might just be able to print it out on a thermal wax printer!
-
it is constantly posted on rwg how poor the panerai date wheels are on reps. someone recently mentioned that if they had a scan of a genuine date wheel, that they might be able to make stickers to go over top of the current one. well ... here it is (see attached image below). i'm putting it out there for someone to step up and accept the challenge. i think it would be a great opportunity for someone and could be a profitable little side business. i only ask for 49%. lol. let me know what you think as i can not add any further knowledge into this. all the best.
Good stuff! i could get it printed out nicely, but the question is i guess, how to get the numbers to align in the exact same position to the teeth! dont want any dates that are " chopped off" by the date window...

The crown on the 63 is sprung which is why it wobbles. It is like this so that when the crwon lever is closed it does not put pressure on the keyless works.
@Esteban - shortening the stem does nothing - in fact if you do that you will unlikely be able to wind the watch.
I have the Palp 2mm crown on my 63 with a Jimmy CG. When fitting the Palp crown you will really need a new stem as the screw hole is deeper in his crowns.
Hi Fine pics, is palps crown sprung as well? if not, would it damage the keyless works?
-
awesome!! wut strap is that??
-
A black breitling type padded leather strap might work, but I say no to the gator idea.
The carbon is the answer though. No contest.
D
Thanks D!
I've made up my mind.. getting both..
-
Thanks!!! i may just get that!! definitely classier than my default rubber strap...
do u think a calf leather/alligator would be a big mismatch?
-
hahah no problem!!
the default CG looks pretty IMHO... i hope to get a new crown, cyclops and datewheel..
this pam is rocking man..
Personally, i prefer this to my other 6497 pammy, main reason being its AUTO!!!!
so much more convenient than having to remember to wind up every day or so...
DOes the AR really work? But from some pics i've seen on ebay, even the Gen has a really reflective glass...
-
try "sunning" for a few days.. could help, but then put some neatsfoot oil or leather conditioner to make it nice and shiny again...
-
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!
I just got a new alligator strap, and am loving it..
What crown is that you have? it definitely loooks thicker than my default one!
(Mine is an EL 2836 063)

This is a common problem on the 063 and the 029. I'm getting a new Palp 2.1 mm crown when there done and I think the problem could be fixed by shortening the crown stem. I'm not a fix-it guy, but The Zigmeister is.
Thanks for the helpful reply!
Is palpatine's crown specific fo 2836 movements? or can it be used for both a 6497 / 2836?
Thanks!!

Hi there, got a pam 063 gmt (2836) which i love...
however, one quibble i have with it is that the crown is kinda "wiggly"...
Im not sure if this is due the STEM itself flexing, or whether the CROWN itself is attached to the stem in a non fixed manner (spring?)
It doesnt affect the functionality of the work, but when i push the crown all the way in, it can still "wiggle" a bit, and when i close the crown protector lever, its possible that the crown doesnt align perfectly with the case.
Its very slight, but i was wondering if there was a fix to this? Or is this a problem inherent in this rep?
many thanks...

Hi guys, i bought this automatic 2 toned citizen diver from ebay.
Check it out:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CITIZEN-MENS-PROMASTER...1QQcmdZViewItem
I feel however, that the strap makes it look tacky, and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations of straps i could do to make it look dressier!
Its a really nice watch, smooth auto movement, and really nice two toned classy look.
I was thinking of some kind of leather/alligator strap, don't know how it would look...
any suggestions?
Thanks!
