  1. PVD is a method of getting the color onto the watch, like brushing or spraying. It is not in of itself a finish or color. Lots of different black substances can be applied by PVD, some will look shiny, some matte, some black, some grey.

DLC will vary dependent on the finish of the metal underneath, apply over a high polish steel and it will have a sheen, apply it over a fine media blasted surface, it will appear matte.

the 026 is a good rep, I've had mine for in regular rotation, there's some wear on the underside of the lugs, but no scratches or wear yet. The v2 has a better dial and a correct matte finish CG pin.

    thanks!

  2. Hello,

Yet another "best of" question...I am looking for a PVD/DLC Luminor PAM and am thinking of the 026 from Angus or Josh. Any other "black" watch recommendations (not looking at radiomir).

How much difference in the PVD vs DLC coatings in terms of color (pencil lead vs black) and scratch resistance is there?

I have a GEN B & R heritage 01-92 which is PVD but looks matte black to me...is that how the PAM's are?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  3. I tried one of these on at the AD today with the Pro diver II with the silver/white chapter ring...I loved it!

It has a very clean minimalistic/contemporary design to MY eye. I already own a previous generation gen superocean and thought that was a more simple beautiful face compared to the busyness of the navimeter, avenger, superavenger, bentley etc..( with all the chrono dials and such).

I guess I like the "basicness" of this watch and it looked better in person than I thought! Sportier looking than other Breitlings IMHO.

It is relatively small at 42mm but looks good on my 8" wrists and that rubber strap is great also, very soft and pliable.

Waiting for them to get the yellow rehaut in to compare ...on backorder as they are in high demand..or so I was told.

  4. Hi,

Have been away for a while...recently the pearl from my V5 from ETZ that I got last fall/winter popped out and I cannot find it.

I tried eurotimez88.com and no luck connecting to Chris' website.

I see in the reviews section a lot of bad reviews about ETZ and was wondering if they are still in business or have they changed the domain address?

Can anyone help with a new (correct 10 and pearl) bezel insert that will fit the ETZ V5?

I don't see any rep pearls for the DSSD available...I am willing to get the whole bezel insert if correct...

    Thanks,

    kevin

  6. Hi,

Can anyone point me in the direction of a REP (or reasonably priced GEN) stainless steel bracelet for an "older style" Superocean (MY 2007 I think)?

I inherited this watch, which I love, from dad after he passed away 2 years ago...I replaced the Gen black leather strap with a cheap SS generic one-size-fits-all bracelet which is actually not so bad, but doesn't look like the gen at all. I really like SS over leather for this watch.

The picture below is of the rep version taken from By-Tors reviews for reference...except the GEN lugs are 20mm

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  7. Thanks guys,

I looked over on DSN's section and saw the 026...it looks like what I am interested to "even out" my meager (but quickly growing!) PAM collection. Lanikai..thanks for the response about your watch, you obviously put alot of time, care and effort into each of your watches. I am not quite to the point of piecing together seperates to make an "ideal" , but looking for a accurate out-of-the-box and I've read Davidson is the best for that. I also have a V5 DSSD from eurotimez, a yellow faced avenger seawolf and a TT blue sub from WM9 (ordered like 5 months ago!) coming in soon. This is a DANGEROUS hobby... :thumbsupsmileyanim::wounded1:

    Thanks,

    Kevin

  8. Hi,

Newb here.. I just started this hobby (addictive i agree!) and have 2 PAM reps in 2 months..111H on Crazy horse Heroic strap and 113 on light tan GETAT strap, both are awesome but now I am looking for a PVD (or DLC??) DESTRO Basic (like 111 and 113) Pam. Can the experts give me the model #'s and trusted dealers to look for?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

    P.S.

I love the look of Lanikai's 202, is there a lefty version???
