  1. FMs are so underrated - some are over the top but some are awesome!

I've been thinking about one of these for a while - if it's a keeper with SWISS mvmnt & you invested $1.7K on a Gen bracelet it must be amazing quality & as close to Gen without buying a Gen.....who did you buy it from?

I'm looking at this from TT.

  2. DUDE!!! I sympathise with your angst!!

I have held a GEN 422 & a REP 372 side by side & the quality of the rep is unbelievable!

    At the same time there's the "lefty" 557  (372 Destro), 127, 217, 368...

I bought a 217 many, many years ago & it was awesome!! I regret selling it - but I needed the funds...

The 422 & 372 for that matter feel "smaller" than the 47mm suggests too, so for me it's an ideal size.

    good luck! :clap2:

  3. So....

I've been a lover of the Cali dial for a long time & recently saw a watch in the big 47mm radiomir case & found it totally wearable....

    All this has re-ignited my "need" for a CALI dial 3646 / PAM249 / PAM 448 etc.....

This all brings me to decision time.

Do I just bite the bullet & buy an out-of the box CALI? or do I have one built?I've asked a similar Q on another forum, although a little more slanted asking members their experiences with DSN's 249 - and for the most part they've been good. I'm just not all that convinced about his dial & hands though as well as the lume combo.... :g:  :g:

For an outta the box - best version, who would you recommend?

For a built one - who would you recommend?

    My pre-requisites are:

*matching dial & hand vintage/patina/ not pure-white LUME, correct hand-shape

*sapphire crystal on front (although am beginning to think there's no such thing in the REP world), may need to be a high dome plexi & plexi exhibition back.

*Swiss Movement (I have read that an A-6497 is just as good & could save myself $200-$300), but if I'm going the whole way, I'd rather a SWISS, I believe a 6497 is virtually the same as a 6498 (different sun-seconds placement - not applicable here). I've been researching movements & can find some re-branded movements which would do the job I beleive.....

*correct - as close to gen shaped case...

    Decisions, decisions...

Would love any or all your help.

    Cheers...MM

  4.

    Love the "exploded" pic!

So glad to read you know what you're doing!

If I took mine apart - I'd end up with extra bits & pieces all over the place.

As a thought, would you (RWG-members) swap out the movement for a SWISS 6497 & just have the plates glued on that?....

    Just had a thought.....hmmmm ULTIMATE 372 here we come - LOL. :clap2:

(This hobby'll be the end of me! LOL)

Here is a wrist shot of the pt.co 372. I think it's pretty damn nice.

I agree - great value for the money too & and damn sexy! Still really impressed with it....

I think the same about the strap, but just this morning, as I was winding it, I noticed the stock-strap is becoming more supple & wearable - long term who knows how it will feel, but for the moment until I can afford another one, It'll have to do.

All those still on the fence - just take the leap! You won't regret it.

  6. Yes I read your post, so your iPhone magically shrunk your wrist and extended the lugs and a part of the case?

    attachicon.gifbig.jpg

...well it kind of did...it's called "OPTICAL ILLUSION"... you should read up on it! May learn somethin'!

I dunno about you, but I live in a 3-D world where, unless you have a super terrific camera with an amazing lens which captures depth of field 100% accuaretly, there will always be room for interpretation in photographs, especially from a phone - NOT a camera, a phone.

Here's a more "accurate" scale photo, yet still looks like the lugs hang over my wrist, but the top of lugs are flush with the width of my wrists. Trust me!

Also, if your wrists are as straight as you "drew" on my photo, then I'd go & see a doctor!

And no I didn't ask for your opinion on wrist size - in fact it doesn't matter to me in the S-L-I-G-H-T-E-S-T what you think.

i just wanted to share my excitement at receiving this piece, which I am certain will become a favourite among us with such a quick turn-around.

    I think it's THAT good (...for a REP)....not a GEN, a REP....
