roughly how much does a gen bracelet cost?
I had bought a rubber F1 strap off ebay for $135 for my gen F1 non-chrono....so I already had the bracelet to move over to the rep F1 chrono. A quick look over at the bay has a bracelet for $200 - $300. Way over priced in my opinion. You can pick up a gen F1 non-chrono (watch and all) for around $350 at timezone.

I have the previous generation Tag F1 Chrono. I don't know if it was from Trusty or elsewhere since I got it from the trade section.
Anyway, I put a gen bracelet on it and it looks great. I don't think anyone would like it was a rep. It isn't perfect but close enough for me.
Here is a pic from Trusty for reference:

I take it that's a no. Cheers for all your help.
I don't think anyone has tried it, maybe I just don't know.
Anyway, I do know that a gen F1 bracelet will fit a rep F1. I have one of each and have verified that.
Now if you want to send me your Auqaracer bracelet I will be glad to give the fitment a try on my Auqaracer rep.

Yes but what you need to understand is there is a big difference between a member saying "Hey look what I just found on Joe Blows site!" and a sanctioned sub forum for new releases.
In the first instance the dealers are happy when their new release are discovered but they will be peeved if their new releases are overlooked for the sub forum.
In other words to make it work the dealers would have to submit the watches themselves or someone would need to be delegated to do this full time.
Ken
Thanks Ken. I didn't think about it that way. Makes sense.
-
Not workable unless the dealers post directly to it sorry.
And they wont want the extra work.
Ken
Oh...
I was kind of thinking it would be member submitted posts. Kind of like what we see in all of the current sub-forums when Josh/Andrew/Angus, etc put something new on their sites. There is always the post saying "Wow! Look what Josh just put up."
I might not be workable...I was just looking for something to cut down on the browsing and the chances of missing the new/hot item.

What do you guys think about having a sub-forum dedicated to New Releases? Somewhere that is not brand specific and just showcases the latest and greatest reps?
Just a thought I had while browsing the sub-forums. It seems that I always end up on a few of the brands and miss out on the latest things on other brands.
I put up a poll. It might be a good idea or a lame brain one.
Anyway...Happy New Year everyone!

I confirm..I have done the same thing on a quartz B&R...just unscrew the crown and push the upper pusher for the chrono if I remember well
OK...Color me stupid, but that worked for my Tag and Daytona reps...but not for the Swiss Army. I guess it is fubar.
Thanks guys! I appreciate the help.

OK, this might be something you know, but i'll say it anyway.
I had an early Breitling emergency miyota quartz chrono that would reset the centre seconds to 6.
i brought it to a jewelers to get some links removed, and he showed me how to reset.
you need to pull the crown out to one of the positions, i am not sure which, then press one of the chrono buttons which will advance the reset point by one second each press
Hmm....I'll have to look into that tonight. Thanks for the tip.

As the title says...I think I'm officially done with Chronographs.
I have always been attracted to chronographs and the rep gods have been kind by supplying a seamlessly never ending supply of new chronographs to chose from. Unfortunately, I have had trouble/problems with everyone I have bought...even the quartz specimens.
Here is my list of problem children:
Swiss Army Officer's 1884 - quartz - center second hand will not move or reset. It stays paralyzed around the 7 o'clock marker
IWC Proto Rep - A7750 - When I bought it I didn't know this one was going to be a problem. I guess I didn't do enough research. Then the second at 6 issues arose -- now dead
Tag Aquaracer rep - A7750 - usually works as advertised, but sub dial at 6 o'clock doesn't reset at times, sometimes it does
Tag Formula 1 rep - quartz - center second chrono hand doesn't reset to zero
Breitling Skyland rep - A7750 - center second hand quit resetting to zero and eventually popped off the post. I used the bonding compound as instructed by many helpful posts, but that only lasted for a few weeks...it popped off again. I replaced it with a hand from another watch. So, it looks like crap, but works now (anyone have a Skyland center second hand they want to get rid of??? PM me!)
Daytona rep - quartz - I found a non-branded Daytona rep on ebay. Of course I thought I wouldn't have problems...since it is a Myota quartz. Wrong. Same thing as the Tag Formaula 1. The center second hand won't reset to zero.
So there you have it. About 2 - 3 years of chronos that I have had problems with.
As anyone else had these experiences or I'm I just the one unlucky SOB?
-
I really hope they come out with this one. I saw it at the AD when I was purchasing my SuperOcean and would have gotten it but for the price. Anyway, I think I'm done with Chronographs...I've had problems with everyone I've purchased (even the quartz ones).
-
m4rcus, what kind of Sub is that?.. pearl looks great. BKmariner? or maybe gen?
Its a gen. My splurge last year after getting a promotion.
The SuperOcean was this year's splurge and wedding present from my new wife. I couldn't pass up the 0% interest at my favorite jeweler. Great watch at half the price of a sub.

I've been wearing this all week to work...
and will probably wear this off and on Saturday and Sunday...
with this thrown in for good measure...
Please excuse the extremely old picture, but that is the only wrist shot I have.
-
Yeah, on close inspection this seems to be a SFSO with a SO dial. Notice the brushed case and different crown as well
Looks like you hit it on the nose. A Mutantfish SuperOcean.
-
Am I the only one that noticed that the font on the bezel are completely wrong? No open 4 on this model and no serif on the 1.
Yep, the bezel is wrong. The case back is wrong too. It has 2000M when the dial has 1500M.
It looks like the dial dots at each numeral are too big when compared to the gen.
The numerals seem to be off too. Notice how the gen has a "3D" effect...here is a crappy pic of my gen:

I'll be wearing the SuperOcean while at work:
And then switch to the Skyland when I get home:

Thanks for the congrats guys. It's only five weeks away!
I was heading for the gen Skyland, but I'm glad I didn't now. Quite a chunk of metal. I don't think I could wear it as a daily beater.
-
I received my Skyland a few weeks ago. Its a blue dial V1 and I put on my gen blue dive strap. Here's a few pictures of it:
Nice watch...really nice construction. The blue dial is cool and it is keeping great time so far. I'm having an issue with the center seconds sweeping hand slipping though. I plan on epoxying the hand and hand post this weekend. Wish me luck.
Around a week after I got the Skyland I made a trip to my AD. After much contemplation I ended up walking out with this:
The SuperOcean is my fiancee's gift to me for our upcoming wedding. Amazing woman and an amazing watch. I've taken to wearing it instead of my Submariner. The 42 mm is perfect for my wrist and it fits under a dress shirt. A plus for me since I have to wear dress shirt and tie to work everyday. Another plus is there isn't a rep of it (at least I don't think there is) and I don't think there will be since the current rep trend seems to be for BIG watches.
Anyway, thanks for looking.

Cool...I'll have to pick some sticks up. I already have some of the cups.

Oops...double post...edited.

Oops...Sorry about the slow response.
I just went out the garage to check, and it's Devcon High Strength 2-part epoxy, with a 30 minute work time.
No problem! Thanks for the info and all of the help. I just ordered some hobbylinc.com.
Here is the link in case anyone is interested:

Well, so far today I have swapped a bunch of parts and this is what I have.
V1 case with V1 bezel (until I can get it pryed off or have the B engraved)
V2 dial with V1 hands
V2 movement and V1 rotor (the V1 movement DOES NOT have a fine regulator as some have suggested)
V1 case back and case
carlsbadrolex,
You wouldn't happen to want to get rid of the V2 hands you didn't use...would you? I'll be happy to take them off your hands. I'm having a problem with the center sweeping seconds hand on my V1 and it looks like I need to glue the hand's shaft/post to the hand. It would be much easier if I could just replace it.
Anyway, if so...let me know how much you'd want for them...or at least the center second hand. If not...it was worth a try to ask.
Thanks,

avitt,
Can you tell me what brand and the name of the 30 min epoxy that you have been using?
I'm in the process of getting all of the needed tools and parts together to attempt the surgery.
Thanks,
marcus

andreww,
Thanks! I had no idea that it was two pieces. I didn't pick that up in my reading.
I actually feel better about it now though. I think I could actually complete the epoxy part using avitt's picture and instructions.
Thanks again guys,
