  1. I prefer the Flight Deck chronographs! Check it: The narrower lugs makes the 50mm easier to wear. I have 6.5" wrists and I was able to pull it off. I discovered this brand at their boutique shop in Hong Kong. I was hesitant to try on the 50mm, but my girl friend insisted and really liked it! The gens use a basic 7750 movement with a decorated rotor. If this is repped, I will buy a few of them!!!
  2. The Omega has more prestige, BUT the Aquaracer is more accurate...
  3. Agree on the CG...Needs to replaced. These also had some issues with the bezel. I've had two of these and both were plagued with sloppy bezels. Both had lateral movement in the bezel and made slight, "klinky" noises. I've been trying to research how to fix this, but have not had much luck. I believe a former modder was successful in removing the bezel and tightened it, but I can't find the details on this. Anyone have any thoughts on this?
  4. Wow!!! Only $218 plus shipping!?! Didn't notice this deal...Must jump on this one! Thanks for the write-up!
  5. Has the AR improved on this model? I had one about year ago. The dealer stated the watch had "AR", but is was so light that its effects were barely noticeable.
  6. That would be great! Perhaps a "Events - GTG" section?
  7. Perhaps the factory is purposely uploading incorrect images on their website to fool the rep makers...
  8. After months of anticipation and close to 10 members showing interest in attending, we only had two members at the DC / MD / VA GTG yesterday... I will need to apologize for arriving at the event late. So, if you were at D&Bs at 1:00 PM and left shortly thereafter, then I guess we missed one another. I did finally get to D&Bs just before 1:30 PM. I walked around the bar area, the dining room, and the gaming (Midway) area three times trying to make myself visible. I wore my red ball cap and pulled up sleeve showing my BCE, as I stated I would. Finally, I decided to sit down at the first stool at the bar closest to the main entrance to keep a lookout. By now it was close to 2:00 PM and I finally spotted someone. The member had that "I'm looking for someone look on their face", but most importantly he holding a small sign with "RWG" on one side and his forum name on the other. Now why didn't I think of that!?!?! Anyhow, I approached him and introduced myself as a "RWG Member" and we had officially started the GTG! We first sat at the bar, but then decided to get a table in the dining room. The place was rather empty which was contrary to what I was told when I tried to call in advance to reserve a table. We told the hostess that we are with the "RWG Group" and to send anyone that mentions "RWG" or "The Darkside" over to our table...Kind of strange thing to do, but oh well. "freddy333" and I sat down and began trading stories about our common interest in watches, and of course we pulled out some goodies to show off. For those of you that are not familiar with "freddy333", he spends most his time over at RWG. He is a Rolex guy and does all of his modding. He had brought along an amazing example of a Rolex 6262 (a.k.a. The Paul Newman Daytona)! (Image borrowed from a reference site) I didn't have my camera with me, otherwise I would have taken some photos of this masterpiece. "freddy333" was very generous with sharing his knowledge and insight about this model. All of his time and hard work definitely paid off as evidenced by the true beauty of this amazing chronograph. He also brought along a tank-style, Audemars that I was not familiar with. A great dress watch with a gold case and burgundy gator strap. Not my cup of tea, but a nice piece to have on display. I was anticipating a larger group, so I had brought along some my favorite watches to show. Here's a list of what I had brought: (photos will be uploaded soon!) 1) Panerai PAM087: one of my favorite diver watches; I had the crystal re-coated with single-sided AR and replaced the date wheel with a Lello date wheel - WOW what a difference! 2) IWC Ingenieur AMG Chronograph: my favorite titanium watch in my collection; I had the crystal re-coated with double-sided AR with AMAZING results - looks like there is no crystal! 3) Breitling Chronomat Evolution: I have two of these; I brought along my Swiss, all brushed version; lots of photos under the posting titled "Brushed vs Polished BCE Comparo..." 4) Patek Philippe Nautilus: this was one my souvenirs from Bangkok - from the famed MBW dealer at the MBK Mall! 5) Rolex Sea-Dweller Ref. 1665: this Single-Red Sea-Dweller also came back with me from Bangkok - many mods to follow! 6) Rolex Submariner Ref. 1680: my first vintage Sub and a classic! The 1680 Red-Sub with a gen acrylic crystal, shaped CGs, gen insert, and drilled lug holes on a rep rive bracelet. This was my first GTG and definitely will not the last. It was great meeting a fellow "collector" in person and put a face to the forum name. Now that I've been through one event, I will know how to better coordinate the next gathering. I would like to try again in near future for another GTG. This time with better planning perhaps we could have a larger turn-out with more watches to drool over!
  9. ...I'll 2nd that... ... ...
  10. I just spoke with D&Bs and they stated that they will be busy on Sunday. They do not accept reservations and their "bar area" tables are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Therefore, I will plan to be there at 12:30 PM to stake out a table for us. I won't have a sign or anything, so just look around for for some goofy guys wearing REALLY nice watches. I'll be the Chinese guy wearing a red, "Alpine Meadows" ball cap and a black-dial BCE. See you there!
  11. Anyone else? We are still "on" for this Sunday!
  12. Yes...all the adjustable links (i.e. the ones that can be removed) have the sleeves.
  13. Great franken...Did you use the rep crown and stem? Did you do anything to the crystal?
  14. My novice eyes tell me that it's a rep...The "inca-block" ring holding the jewel for the adjustment dagger doesn't look the same to gens that I've seen and compared to. I think some poor schmuck will be taken for a ride...Sad...Truly sad...
  15. Probably just the "shape" of my wrists...Nice wrist shot!
  16. My gen Explorer II has these tubes...
  17. I've always found it odd that the oyster bracelets on modern Daytonas have the metal tubes/sleeves around each adjustment screw, but none of my Subs came with them...
  18. I was in BKK last month and this model at the MBW shop. I loved it, but was not able to pull it off. The lug design on this model did not allow the bracelet to sit properly on my 6.75" wrists. I then tried on the EOD model that has a different lug design and the nylon strap. Fits much better, but the strap was too long! I love this design, but my small'ish wrists won't allow it...Good luck to you on your hunt!
  19. Off to Michael's Arts & Crafts to buy a hot glue gun...Thanks!
  20. I've seen a couple of Concord Ventu Chronos (for around $1K or less) on the Bay as of recent...Transplant the movement to your MBW ROO and it could be 99.9%...
  21. Does anyone know the difference between the two? I'm trying to source parts for my 5512 project. Thanks in advance!
  22. This was first proposed by "mickeypro" on the Dark Side back on 10/25/07. I offered to "organize" the event the best that I could given that I was out of the country for the most of November. Since the original posting, there has been about seven interested members (on the Dark Side) that have stated that they will attend. Perhaps we can pick up a few more members from the area now that the details of the event have finally migrated to this forum...For those interested, please try to make it! It should be fun and informative!
  23. Please see the original thread over at the "Dark Side"... http://www.replica-watch.info/phpBB3/viewt...=93&t=33256 Here are the details: Date: Sunday, December 16, 2007 Time: 1:00 PM EST Place: Dave & Busters White Flint Mall 11301 Rockville Pike North Bethesda, MD 20895 I can call and reserve a table and area for us once I see confirmations from those that will attend, so please RSVP by Friday, 12/14/07...Thanks!
