  1. Does anyone have an explanation for this phenomenon? Are they cheaper there for some reason perhaps?

I would always come back from the VI with at least one watch after a cruise. Prices weren't much different from the states. But no sales tax can be a lot of money on a large purchase!

  2. That exact Titanium Seiko has been my daily beater for probably 5 years now. Before that it was a polished steel model.

The Titanium model is extremely light. The movement has been operating flawlessly since new (still on original battery!). The alarm function is nice too.

Been wearing a soulless Tag Link Quartz lately. I'll bust out the autos once and a while, but my dailies have almost always been quartz chronos. Accuracy and reliability are key for me.

  3. Beautiful watch and, after adjustment, my Tag is more accurate than my genuine Seamaster Pro Chronograph COsc certified chronometer. On the order of +- 3 sec/day!!!!

I agree! Beautiful rep. After reading By-Tor's awesome review, I picked up a white dial version from Andrew (along with an aquaracer for the wifey). It's now my new daily beater. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

When my Navitimer from Ruby shows up that status might change though... ;)

  4. I wanted to get in on this, but I can not get moneybookers to accept my perfectly good credit card, and the time I tried to see if there was a WU facility to make a transfer originating from the web, I had no luck with their website in the least. . . Was it bad luck on both accounts, or am I just a dolt?!?!? :bangin:

I couldn't get them to accept either of the two visa cards I tried.

I was able to use a credit card at western union's web site. $34 in WU fees later :wounded1: , my payment was sent. I used the "Money in Minutes" option. I had to call a toll free number and verify all my info, but the transferred cash was supposedly available for Ruby within 5 minutes.

    Good luck,

    Russ

  5. I just found out that WU will charge me $34 in fees to send the money.

Moneybooker won't accept any of my credit cards and a bank transfer will take 3-5 days to clear. Not enough time left in the group buy for me to wait around on funds to clear.

I really want this watch. And $220 shipped is a great deal! :) But at nearly $260 shipped after those outrageous WU fees, my enthusiasm has definitely lessened.

Why no Paypal Ruby? Fear of chargebacks? As a verified Premiere Paypal member for over 6 and a half years, I can be trusted. My 8+ year eBay profile will vouch for me as well.

Don't want to absorb the 3% fee? I (and probably a lot more others) would be willing to pay 103% of the total to cover the Paypal fee.

Please, please, please Ruby, reconsider accepting Paypal.

    Thank You,

    Russ

  6. this is the first negative transaction I had on ebay. over 200 were positive so far, mostly very expensive stuff.

very sad that something like this has to happen over a 30$ item.

I got my one and only negative after buying a $1 item! This is after something like 120 positives since '98.

I bought a remote control for $1 + $7 shipping. The guy took 2.5 weeks to ship it (after instant paypal payment), and it arrived in a brown unpadded envelope with 65 cents postage nearly 4 weeks after I paid for it. This is after maybe 2 unresponded emails I sent him.

He got a neutral (to add to his 3 or 4 previous negs) and I got a negative! Guess it goes to show you that retaliation is alive and well. Lesson learrned. I'll never buy from a seller with less than 99% positives again. Good luck with your chargeback Slay.
