  1. My vote - 001b. It's a timeless piece and to me is what contemporary Panerai is all about.

As far as the dial FGD has one but it's for PreA, if you go that route make sure you also source a good caseback (DSN 0401 or 0333 serials are the best for PreA). You you can get a very nice T SWISS T dial + hands set like this from DSN for $90:

or if you're fan of L dials then this one should do the trick, also from DSN:

for a good B series caseback pm HackR, he has one of the thick & heavy old school ones for sale.

Thats not the same dial posted twice ? Whats the difference ?

  2. I joined in December and have a FS thread at the moment so i hope you dont mean me.

Its terrible to see people out to take advantage of others in a community that has been built on helping others enjoy a shared hobby.

As an honest seller i dont see any problems with providing appropriate levels of information about myself if i expect people to hand over money to me.

Anyone who does - probably shouldnt be trusted !

  3. Getat is very good and so are their prices. Even their straps are quite nice. My friend ordered a complete set of parts including movement and they arrived within a week of ordering. They also do some custom stuff that is not listed on their website (superluminova of dial for one) so contact them with any special request you may have....you may be suprised what they will do for you.

    Cheers!

Yeah its the easy to use website at Getat that made me realize i really could do it myself.

Im actually going to go one step further and re-lume the dial and hands myself with the lume paint from GlowInc - should be a fun experiment. ( tho ive just read that they can't ship internationally without costly hazmat costs ! DOH !!!)

My only bugbear is that im still not sure about putting in a Unitas Asian hand wind 6497 etc etc - i need to read up some more on them to figure out what i want to put in the watch - high beat vs low beat etc and i seem to recall having read in different places praises for both over the other. Actually now that i think about it i think the high/low beat thing may have been in reference to A7750's - GAH movements are doing my head in at the moment >.<

  4. Yeah, they promised to sue me... I guess that would have been expensive and I can be happy that they didn't charge any fees or something like that.

I didn't even know that Marina Militare was a Panerai trademark... otherwise I wouldn't have ordered overseas. You can even get them on eBay in Europe, but they're removed from time to time.

I am also not sure if they are still so "nice" when there's Panerai written on the dial... that's why I will not take the risk again.

    Cheers

    Whatever123

Yeah thanks for that Whatever - im mainly focusing on completely unbranded - planning on buying parts and assembling myself :)

  5. Anyone know what the story is with regards to the legality or rather illegality of homage watches ?

I would assume that because they dont get sold as replica's but as non branded look alikes that they aren't illegal - anyone able to confirm or deny ?

  6. Only place is the MBK market! Go to the 3rd floor, but be prepared to be disappointed! Nothing in BK could beat our Trusted dealers here! Been there last Jan. and got nothin to show for it except some Canal types!

    Good luck!

Thanks Hike - ill check it out.

Oops i meant to say in February not November haha :D

  7. Im in the same sort of boat actually myself. However in my case the gf bought me a camera for xmas - Canon Ixus 95IS - honestly .. its brilliant.

The macro setting is pretty awesome - i can hold the lens less than 1 cm from the object and still get crystal clear details - which is partly what we want for taking pictures of our money pits ;)

    Good work !

    ps. nice PO :D

  8. Hi all,

so im heading to Thailand for 10 days in November, and i will have a couple of days in Bangkok and i was wondering what the likely hood of buying some decent reps would be ?

Can anyone suggest where i might go to try my luck ?

    Cheers
