  1. Mate, you knew I was going to hunt you down if you post pics like these here - LOL! It's basically a badly done attempt at replicating a PAM090 PR, but according to your pics the dial appears to be blue so PAM093...however the letter came in its original form with Ti case and had textured dial. Not good mate, let's hope that 21J mov't will last your friend a little longer, sorry.
  2. Very well done! Spot-on and hot stuff for vintage Pam lovers! An the one from "downstairs" isn't that bad either
  3. Hey mate, some cool old-school stuff there - can't wait to see the final results
  4. Nice pair Zeko...especially that 205/A
  5. Ha, ha...you gotta be joking mate, of all the flaws and issues the watch came with someone actually picked on slightly rounder CG? That should be the least of your worries when it comes to 212, IMO...but that's me
  6. That particular 209/210 topic is a very tricky one. A lot of 'Risti have been scratching their heads over the case/CG specs as no one has seen a real pic of these for a while (they were basically a handful of prototypes) until Maurits posted photos of both the 209 and 210. They seem to come in pre-V case with thick brushed pre-V CG, but single lug-screw design like contemporary cases. This went slightly against what Dirk G stated, though but Dirk never posted any photos to support his theory. So if this is anything to go by, all W's CNC maker needs for a correct 209/210 case is to drill a hole in one lug and thread the other. Old-school chunky EL 005 case would be a perfect fit, for example. cheers, b
  7. Unfortunately not, mate. The pre-A cases come with sloping corners and lugs which are also elongated and thinner. I would almost say they're dramatically different from pre-V cases and closer to a more contemporary 44mm Luminor case style. Gen pre-A 001 pics: There may have been some leftover cases from OP before Vendome buyout, though. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the pre-A 001/002 came in 'chunky' pre-V cases as well. Either or, the case W is making is one of the best mech Pam alrounder at the moment and should provide a nice fit for mods of many different series. cheers, b
  8. Doubt it mate, I keep looking at the rehaut of my EL 196 from every possible angle and I just can't 'reproduce' that sunken barrel look Shouldn't be a deal beaker though, IMO.
  9. Great comparo Pete, much appreciated. Although I never held a gen 127/217 in my hand I always maintained how the EL CG is slightly thinner overall then the gen, and the area of the CG around the pin also very 'skinny'. These pics definitely confirm my 'worries' On the other hand, it's not like I will bump into anyone wearing the 127 on the wrist who will scrutinize my EL 127 Even the gen 127 owners don't wear them often these days, LOL! The polished crown dish comes as a surprise to me, as all the gen 127/217 photos I collected over the years show it with circular brushed finish, go figure... Thanks once again! b
  10. Just to add few random bits on the fly about the 196... - the dial is good, but just good...the more I look at it the more I find the off-bits, like Luminor Panerai txt being of different font and text overall thinner, cardinal numerals just a tad thicker than gens, small loop on number 4, thinner white markings on the dial etc - the case again comes with 'dimples', has wrong bezel shape and engraving is too wide and larger overall. Lugs are stumpy. Rehaut is unusually deep. The bow line (curvature) on CG is too pronounced, CG lever needs reshaping at the tip at least, crown needs upgrading. - the large hands (minute/hour/chrono) are excellent, much better than on my 196 from EL, so will most likely replace them. The small chrono hands on chrono registers come with a tad bigger 'leaf', making them look a bit on a large side overall. All that said, I still maintain my 'thumbs up' for this piece...at the price mentioned above, a reliable workhorse that's very very close...just don't compare it too much to the gen and you'll be OK
  11. Judging by the pics it's a V2 case. Not the Honpo/EL type Kruzer is referring to in his post above, which is closer to the gen. Here's the two cases side by side. Honpo/EL on the left, the "not-so-correct" V2 on the right (in the middle) DSN's new 188/196 are closer to V2, though. cheers, b
  12. If I may try...the bezel is slightly wider and with lesser slope, just like the one that came on cartel V2 case in mid '07. It is also comes with thinner side profile making it look shallow, at least that's what I could pick from the photos in his Photobucket. The case in general isn't that great, though IMO but has potential. I haven't done any deep and detailed comparisons of the dials but that dial on 196 is by far the closest rep 196 Daylight dial I've seen so far. Hands are also great. DW is thicker but short of that gen font thickness. All in all good package for someone looking for Gen ETA-7753 powered Daylight. It gets thumbs up from me with slight reservations...but hey Others may disagree with my views and opinions, though. W0lf, mate - you sure that destro is from his new batch, it looks like the very destro dial he had available few years back and discontinued since. Also, I haven't see that good T-Swiss-T print under six on his dials for years now. I'm only hoping he isn't using old stock photo for his new batch of destro Marina dials
  13. Now that's a nice Fiddy, for sure. Quite a few important things done right and in order, good homework.
  14. +1 ...so well put! I was about to reply tho the thread but no need as you said it all perfectly...exactly my thoughts...all of them. cheers, b
  15. DSN actually announced in April his intentions to make 24/25 subs sometime in May. It would have been on time for mid May had DSN case maker not being instructed the 24A and 25A models should come with 12 bezel clicks, not 60. So it was back to a drawing board, which took quite a lot of time from beginning of May onwards. We are now looking at the last week of May according to his last limited comms to some of us. Fingers crossed, though
  16. FGD V3 201/A dial? Wow! I thought there were only two versions made by FGD's dial maker so far. Do tell us more please if you don't mind, I for one would'd love to know the diffs between the V2 and V3 if they exist. thanks, b
  17. Interesting piece, definitely custom-made and not a production watch though. Would love to see the caseback and the CG profile on that one. Could be also one of those prototypes OP was trying in pre-V era, hard to tell without seeing more info from the back. Remember the infamous 'Japanese' PAM55 in Ti with white base dial...it turned out to be a case/dial swap between the PAM55 and PAM10. Have any more info on that pre-V Ti base, by any chance? cheers, b
  18. Absolute top of the rack stuff! I've seen some work Domi's done on IWCs, especially the ones done for Concepta, the guy is an artist extraordinaire. It's nice to see he's willing to apply some of his magic on Pams too. Enjoy it, IMO it's worth every penny invested in it.
  19. No, not as a pre-A. I wish it were, though. I believe the first Ti Base was PAM55 that came a little later, in C-series.
  20. Sorry I should have been a little more specific - I meant DSN dials, not the whole watches. As far as I can tell only maybe one of those PVD cases could be from DSN. cheers, b
  21. One word mate - impressive! That crown guard really is out of ordinary when it comes to rep Ti CGs. The whole look and feel screams - GEN! On the case note, it's actually an early EL-type case with stumpy lugs (at least that's what the picture above projects) ...if it were S/S it would have been perfect for pre-V proj. I have it in S/S currently hosting my 001B-L, still sitting on the fence weather to use it for 201/A proj or wait for one of Kruzer's cheers and enjoy! b
  22. We did mention the sloping issue, in this very thread actually, but it obviously didn't come across well The sloping and over polishing the teeth (which is the main reason for slope and conical look of the crown) was my biggest issue with T-48 S/S crowns. On the other hand PVD and Ti were just perfect.
  23. Wow - these are certainly some better DSN examples - wera them well! cheers, b
  24. That's a very nice example of a well executed pre-A 001 Enjoy!
