  1. Me too...however the whole EddieLee "thing" had not much to do with Eddie himself, it was his Hong Kong rep disti that had sellection of reps that were a step above the rest, sort of a "mini-Honpo" source, if you get my grip. Promoter, I'd at least relume dial and hands in Superluminova, upgrade the cannon pin/hour wheel set, and shorten the minute hand tube. While you're at it why not flattening and polishing the cannon pin top. I'd leave the mov't as is, being square version or E-series version ETA 6497. At least the ETA mov'ts back then were exactly that, an ETA. Good luck
  2. Correct observation re mov'ts, guys. Here's a couple of pics for comparison. Pre-V and Pre-A CDG 6497 mov't: 000/005 CDG 6497 mov't: cheers, babola
  3. Not if you owned a gen 1B already Great end result W, with rep parts available for an 'ultimate' 1B rep/franken bild you couldn't do any better, IMO. The B1176/3000 caseback nicely rounds up the picture, I only wish they didn't miss the gen flattop shaped number 3, but that's realy nitpicking now Great one! Whoever ends up with it will have a long time keeper for sure.
  4. Automatico, I think you're on the money. This is what Otto Frei currently offers: - ETA 2846 movement; 21 jewels. $89.00 ...and this is with the watch. So yes, they do appear to be more affordable than ETA-2824/36. Check his website for more details. EDIT: Correction...Otto seems to be out of stock on these...
  5. It certainly is one of the best 036 I've seen around. Lot of thought and knowledge went into creating this marvelous looking piece. Wear it well! babola
  6. Yes it's a gen ETA-2846, and no, it doesn't cost 3 times as much as ETA-2836.
  7. You're on the roll today :-) Great piece!
  8. She's a beaut, mate! cheers, babola
  9. Nice collection, Pete! Glad to see the old Panerai flame is still there
  10. Stick to 44mm historics with closed casebacks, like 001, 002, 004, 009 etc. cheers, babola
  11. Thanx for the pics SD, this again confirms that the only thing consistent with gen Pams is their inconsistency ;-) E and F-series 111 should have the same features, case lines, engravings and overal design, however the pics you and I posted support the otherwise. cheers, babola
  12. Would you mind posting a photo of your gen 111F caseback, thanks!
  13. It's V2, you'll notice it by thinner bezel hash marks, correct numeral 1 shape on bezel numbers 10 & 15, dial txt Automatic in darker red and shorter, more correct chrono pushers.
  14. Both are gen mov'ts. The EPANERAIPAN engraving on gen bridges hasn't been matched yet in rep world. New hi-beat Asian 6497-2 mov'ts are way above the previous versions, but the engraving is still one of the biggest tells and if you know what to look for it can be spotted from a distance. Also, the sunburst finish coming from the midle jewel on the main bridge is still much better and with more detail done on the gen E-series mov'ts.
  15. Not the mention the rep Pam box...RUN AWAY!!! Franken at best...IMO
  16. Dial looks OK, so does the mov't. Can't say the same about the caseback, though. Unless Panerai changed caseback txt engraving from E to F-series, this one isn't quite right. See here for 111 E-series caseback engaving, spot the letter spacing in Officine Panerai. The OP and Serial No have been tacticaly obstructed by the photo taker, so hard to say for sure. Excercise caution.
  17. Oh yes baby - bring it on !!! I almost wet my pants looking at these mate (although I've seen them before in your earlier posts), you made my day, for sure cheers and make sure you keep the ball rolling, babola
  18. Show off !!! No really, nice find mate...did you by any chance marry a daughter of a Panarai service centre owner ?! :-)
  19. Correct, noticed that on my V2 while I had it. Two bezel screws were just spinning freely in both directions, so I also deducted the only way toi remove the bezel would be to pop it off with a blade as other non-Breitling bezels. :-( This and the fact that the movement was faulty on arrival made me have second thoughts re V2s and couldn't understand the hype and price hype on V2 over V1. Andrew told me it was primarily due upgraded new A7750 28.8kbph mov't that comes in V2, but I'm not sure about that. Still the chrono pushers length and assembly on V3 bugs me a little, they're not only correct length on V2 but the screwed in base looks more 1:1.
  20. Glad it worked out for you in the end :-)
  21. Thanx for the comparo pic, so did they fix the extra long chrono pushers on V3? From the pic sure looks like, at least they're not sticking out as they used to on V1. cheers, babola
  22. Not bad at all, not sure about "basebal looking" comments from dave, you lost me there for a moment mate :-) The sunken date is a must on these modified A7750 to mimic 7753 mov't, not an easy to fix unless you go with gen ETA7753. Wear it well! babola
  23. Very nice A, that lume job is fantastic! T-crown definitely adds that overal gen feeling to the watch. Wear it in good health
  24. I'd be more unhappy with the blue tint on A/R xtal on a T-dial watch. The case you have is great I agree, but would fit 001B-L much better IMO. Just slap a solid caseback onto it and your problem is gone :-) cheers, babola P.S. this is assuming you actually have A/R on xtal, if not than all is great ;-)
  25. Those were Honpo and EL old-school versions from late '05 early '06. I haven't heard of any maker making these in Ti ever since. I could be wrong, though.
