  1. Wouldn't "crap you" mate...never! You know me, a little occasional fun between mates doesn't hurt, ha, ha Stay well! babola
  2. esdee, the mov't linked to Ioffer sale ad in the first post is Asian, not Swiss and not the one you have in your watch. As FGD already pointed out yours is the Base Swiss ETA 6497-1 mov't with cosmetic add-ons like bridges, S/N reg etc. It's the last edition of E-series rep mov't that comes in better reps these days. DSN for example uses it in his E-series watches (Fiddy, 111E, 113E etc) also it comes in Angus's ultimate 111E. It CANNOT be sourced as a spare part. If you find a way, please let me know, as I've been trying (read: begging) dealers I keep in touch regularly for one of these mov'ts. :-( So basically, the mov't you're going to buy on IOFFER is Asian and the same overpriced mov't Paul (wo-mart) sells on his pam111.com site, as well as Josh and other dealers. It's IMO $50 worth mov't, not more. cheers, babola EDIT: Also forgot to add, you shouldn't need the H3 cannon pinion/hour wheel upgrade kit. Your Fiddy mov't already comes with it (I have 2 watches with that mov't and didn't need an upgrade). What you might need is to sand down the minute hand tube to sit lower on the cannon pin.
  3. Still a point of contention amongst gen pre-V owners, many believe pre-V's came as 6497-2 in 21.6kbph flavor, but there's a good deal of those that believe it's a slower 18kbph...hard to say really unless you open one and check the number stamp. cheers mate, babola
  4. Both OPI and OPII have second "wheel" or gear, it's just that on OPI the second hand pin is shortened or clipped, but still left long enought to sit properly inside the jewel on the base plate (dial side). If you remove the sec hand gear the watch wouldn't work You're correct, they're both 21.6kbph, ETA/Soprod 6497-2 mov'ts. cheers, babola
  5. It is a leverless self-engaging crown prototype from 1998. The CG is missing the lever and is there just for form. They made one of these, but never went into a production, since Paneristi didn't like it - LOL! ...sorry
  6. Just a note i5475p, DSN now offers both cases, his own case as well as standard one with longer lugs and larger cutout between the lugs to acomodate thicker straps. If you can't live with the issue, send the watch back for case replacement, or simply ask him to send you his standard case, and you or your watchmaker can do the swap - but be careful again, the dial that fits his case is slightly larger in diametar, so you may need to trim it down to fit, which is undesirable as you paid for the fully moded product. DSN cases aren't standard, 'bazonkers' already pointed out the lug holes are positioned slighly higher and closer to the case, as well as the lugs are just a bit shorter. His cases also use almost unnoticeable cutout between the lugs, so closer in that respect to gens. One additional bit I like about DSN cases is that the lugs are more "elongated" in shape, which is again closer to the gen. The standard rep cases come with thicker lugs, more like the ones found on 5218-20X/a pre-V PAMs. cheers, babola
  7. Exactly the mov't The Zigmeister identified last year as a possible combo (old type ETA base plate, all the rest Asian add-ons) with some initial issues... AKA - Swasian, Chiss, Swinesse etc...many people named it many names IOFFER.com is possibly the last place you won't to buy PAM rep or mov't from...dodgy as...with many new young, up and coming and aspiring Asian "rep dealers" are trying to flog off their stock there for 30%-100% more than we're expected to pay thru our standard "dealer channel" these days. cheers, babola
  8. I've seen one as well, not sure for what model, though. The mag piece was inserted into a sort of a rehaut on the main crystal, which was as far as I can remember not deeper than 0.5mm, if that. The whole "design" left me a bit puzzled at the time, since I believed until then that the mag cyclops on PAM crystals were glued-on on underside. Although the cyclop was inserted into the hole in the crystal, there was no majorly visible border line beetwen them, the tolerance must have been in microns. cheers, babola
  9. Numerals 12 and 6 are bigger on rep and pusehed towards the edge of the dial, 12 is almost touching the rehaut. Caseback serial is slightly wrong, as the I-series 164 came out in 2000 pieces, not 1500. Other's have already pointed out oversized hour numerals on a rep. Lug screw holes are now placed higher, the same issue new PAM250 has, a real eyesore IMO, but not to big issue for most. Decorated mov't with CDG and OPIII engraving is a nice touch, but not sure why would you go that far on a closed caseback rep, and the movement that's missing ETA logo, anyway. They sort of half-fixed the horizontal bar on letter A, but it's still off :-( ...just my quick & dirty 2 cents. babola
  10. Just a note...Panerai started progresivelly using single (underside) AR from 2000 in their C-series, as reported by number of 'Risti on the gen site. Also, Panerai never ever used double-sided AR on their xtals. cheers, babola
  11. LOL! I think we should now call the Soprod decorated ETA 6497-2 mov't a SwiSwiss
  12. Neither ETA nor Panerai decorates mech 6497-2 mov'ts found in PAM historics, Soprod does. They replace stock ETA square bridges with a decorative ones, flat winding gears with the ones with beveled teeth and sunburst finish, add S/N regulator, increase power reserve from 49 to 56hrs, add blued screws, tall flat-top cannon pin and hour wheel set etc. Basically the mov't that leaves Soprod and gets installed in a PAM111 for example, is nothing like the stock ETA mov't that entered Soprod, originaly. cheers, babola
  13. Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but the mov't shown is Swiss. There's a dimple in the hairspring balance pin holder, as well as the ETA stock full circle metal ring around the Incablock assembly. cheers, babola
  14. Not at the prices you normaly charge for your mov'ts - LOL!
  15. These are also known as Homer/Ruby cases. Angus also has them now as part of his ultimate 111E offering. They can be sourced as a spare part from Angus, but come with slighly higher price tag due to sapphire xtal. The case is odd ball, thicker profile, thicker and shorter lugs, thinner rehaut profile, thicker CG and slightlu thicker crown without inner teeth bevel. For PAM rep purists, especially those that favour Jimmy's over standard and DSN cases, this case is very wrong (as it's basicaly wrong dimensions) for others it's just fine. Also the factory that produces reps with these cases uses sapphire xtal with purple A/R. To some this purple hue is hard to savour, and I can understand that. I own 036 and a spare S/S case of the same type. The 036 was sourced year ago, the case 2 months ago, they're basically the same except for the 036 being Titanium. cheers, babola
  16. More of a suggestion or observation rather than criticism, Rolli. I was referring to the overal fit and look of a CG and the crown together. The CG on that 111H is so called "new type", it's slightly longer in radius and when mounted it sits further away from the case when compared to both gen and old-style standard rep CG. The lever is unmodified, which means there is now more distance between the lever tip and the inside crown dish (for lack of a better term), meaning the crown needs to be now positioned slightly off the case, leaving an unsightly gap between itself and the case, as evident on the 111h photos of yours. Basicaly you can't do much about this, except two things - one, you can shave off some metal off the bottom of the CG feet, or two - simply replace the stock crown with the Palp/Pam that has a shallow dish, and makes a better functional and visual fit with the larger CG. You've already done the latter on numerous other Pams of yours so that's probably the way to go. All in all it's an easy, no-fuss fix, and you know all about it anyway cheers, babola
  17. Nice one K, the dial is second generation rep sausage Marina dial, you'll recognize it by L Swiss L sitting a tad closer to the bottom of number 6 - but very nice, nevertheless. It still has a bit of a groove around the indices, although slightly less than generation 1. The caseback is DSN pre-A. He copied it directly off the Maurits' "pre-A PAM" write-up in archives on Paneristi web site, and it's one of the nicest casebacks made by his case maker, IMO. Wear it in good health, babola
  18. Rolli, of course you're not a newbie, we all know that And I never stated that. The only point I made was about the substandard CG and crown placement, that's all. I have a great respect for your work and I'm very aware of your numerous reps and mods. It's only that the 111H you shown here was below your standards, that's all, and now we all know why Stay well and keep up the good work ! Merry Christmas to you and your family! babola
  19. Swiss ETA 6497-1, stock standard $75 mov't modded by adding glue-on decorative plates and blued screws. Awesome workhorse mov't, one of the least modified ETA 6497 mov'ts that inhibit PAM reps. I have 6-7 of these ticking inside my Pam historics with solid casebacks as well as 036 MM. Go for it mate, you won't regret it! babola
  20. I believe there's a cheap and nasty Asian 21J version of modified auto mov't that's ticking in some cheaper 27 and 28 PR reps. Silver surfer should be able to confirm as he owns both the 2892 and Asian 21J powered PRs. cheers, babola
  21. 055 = solid Ti caseback, definitely not display
  22. No worries mate, had to joke a little BTW, I thought you amassed quite a few so called "Christmas presents" already, LOL!
  23. Uh, oh...Kye Lin's after it...no soup for the rest of us mortals Kye dude, leave some stuff for the rest of us to pick - you're killing all the fun ! Ha, ha... babola
  24. Have to agree with Kruzer, nice watch altogether but CG and crown need some fine-tuning. Crown is sitting too much off the case, you'll have to either "shave off some meat" from the CG feet and shorten the crown stem, or get the Palp/Pam crown that has thicker inside dish. I've done number of these recently with Palp crown and they look fab and make a nice fit together. If you're lucky you could source the older style CG that's smaller, making the tighter fit between the CG lever tip and the crown. How about fixing that recessed lever pin as well while you're at it. Just remove it with a bracelet pin pusher, flatten it (sand papaer or a small file will suffice) polish the top with cape cod or Brasso or similar, and re-insert it again. cheers mate, babola
