  1. Looks like Eddie Lee...sorry Murphy, sent a blanket email to all his custommers...he's got 5 others on offer, very nice if I may say so, in general it looks like reps are getting better and better with every new edition/generation babola
  2. The dial text on David's is thinner then the original but he just announced two weeks ago he's working on a new updated dial with the correct font thickness, correct arrow shape on a OP logo as well as inter-text spacing on both of his 000 and 005. Watch this space. cheers, babola
  3. Definitelly good 'mil_tool_stealth' option for people after something in between Ti and PVD finish. Also much nicer and refined than bead blasted look. Great job, who would have though a good ole' Napisan could be so versatile cheers, babola
  4. Nice one, that strap rocks dude ! Loks like Andrew's 127 to me (I have the same one), with e0581/1950 case, but still excellent combo altogether. cheers, babola
  5. Nice to be able to put the face to the name, MJ...so what did you get there, then ? cheers, babola
  6. Nice 036. They finally fixed the dial text font and spacing, as well as combined it with the correct case with case and serial numbers engraved into the case close to lugs, not on the caseback. enjoy it, babola
  7. Quite possibly, there would be a number of possible hack scenarios, depending on location of the Web front-end itself and the app/database server, as well as their interaction. That said, the site is being hosted by a known and respected Web sites hosting company so lets hope they know their stuff quite well and how to secure Web publishing environment, accordingly. Fingers crossed cheers, babola
  8. Funny how nobody suspected a possibility of RWI web site being taken over by intruders/hackers. If that happens to be the case, most likely the only safe "return" would consist of restoring data from the last backup tape(s). Just a thought... babola
  9. So Andrew, when can we expect to see the Asian '8-day' Angelus reps from your guys...? cheers, babola
  10. Whoohoo - so the CG lever is pointing upward on a production watch, anyway ! How could Panerai get it so wrong on their pics then, or were they pics of a prototype on their Web site - again ?! Has anyone else noticed this ? It looks like the rep makers got it right then with their $100 '8-days' rep with Asian 21J movt and metal caseback. cheers, babola
  11. Ditto CJ, well said ! Also, some tend to forget you're not paying big $$$ for a movement or a dial or a case when you buy a Panerai...but something completely different - a legend. cheers, babola
  12. Good one mate, couldn't have said it better. cheers, babola
  13. Needs a cannon pin fix, it's way too big :-) cheers, babola
  14. Hmm, very interesting discovery...indeed. babola
  15. This is why I love these forums, there's an abundance of posts that make you giggle and laugh ! Marv1n & TmeShare - You guys must have some pretty rough fingertips... I've had 6 Luminor 44mm manual winds for 2 years now, wear them in rotation, both Ti and S/S and never noticed nor had a problem with this...then again I may be a softie cheers, babola
  16. Great news, I hope he fixed the wrong font on teh caseback and its shape (metal part is too thick, leaving the glass window smaller than it should be) along the way. cheers, babola
  17. Can't blame you...that's one nice Panerai 'alrounder' where they managed to keep those vintage clues present in the latest 'hytorical' PAM editions...polished case, sandwich dial, simple understated leather band reminiscent of the original brown calf strap with in-tone stitching etc...nice one. Now if they could only make that 112H rep just a tad closer to its gen sibling... :-) cheers, babola
  18. Davidsen's 111H ETA is Swiss, not Asian, sorry. As always the case with 'modern' Swiss ETAs we see in PAM reps, the base movement is Swiss, CDG bridges, S/N and other decorative bits are Asian, made by rep mov't manufacturers. It is impossible to get a Swiss ETA 6497 to be cosmetically identical to the gen movement since these are made ONLY by Panerai, and are not available for public sale. Both the Officine Panerai and Asian mov't people mod the basic ETA 6497, the difference being in quality of finish and function e.g. not all of the rep mov't "working" swan-neck add-ons are actually working ones. Eddie Lee is one of the very few dealers who is straight abouth the new Swiss 6497 and Asian 6497 movements in the reps he sells. He has both Swiss and Asian on offer, they look very similar and hard to distinguish by a naked eye, but he will be the first to point out that the other one is actually Asian. The $$ diference is roughly $100, between both. cheers, babola
  19. The search is far from over...at least for me. Nice effort from David, the new 111H is something he's been talking about for a few weeks now, and it's finally here. So, how does it compare with the "standard" reps from other dealers ? Judge for yourselves: - dial and hands with superlume - fixed recessed pin - A/R sapphire - Swiss ETA 6497 with CDG bridges and swan neck reg - nice strap... However... - dial text still comes with incorrect letter font and thickness, but that seems to be David's trademark, anyway - caseback is slightly off, and the engraved text is not even close to gen's - the case is a standard Davidsen's edition with specific dimensions, so the dial and CG most likely won't interchange with 'standard' rep's. All in all - nice one, but I'm ready to wait a bit longer for the cosmetically more correct version (if that one ever comes up) cheers, babola
  20. I guess it depends on the depth and seriousness of the scratch. I normally use Brasso S/S polish - it works wonders, restores the metal to its former polished mirror finish. You can get it (or similar products) from a supermarket for few dollars. DO NOT use any sand paper or Dremmel grinding implements, although they'll take away the scratch, you will never regain that high-polish finish again. The exception would be using dremmel wheel to brush off, then another wheel to polish and then again another one to restore high-gloss finish, but this will take patience and time, and you'll have to be very carefull in your initial grit sellection. Polishing with Brasso also takes time, but it's fool proof. cheers, babola
  21. He, he...if that's your wife on your avatar...I'd better listen to her! Seriously, I do the finances in our family, so sometimes able to smuggle 'not-so-significant' purchases - meaning $200-300 reps etc. Everything above that get's noticed...of course. It also helps that I own over 30 Seiko and Citizen divers, lot of them vintage, that I flip every now and then to be able to finance some higher priced reps... cheers, babola
  22. 1) PAM127 Fiddy (old correct case with plain Swiss 'no-bull' ETA) 2) David (davidsen) 3) You betcha !!! cheers all, babola
