  1. So I took my DRSD for a few days R&R and this is what happened to the dial - talk about WOKKY REHAUTS And here is a further clue................by the infinity pool Liking the plunge pool as well.............looking good for a near 40 year old !
  2. Many thanks to all for posting in.... So does this NOS (short) bracelet look genuine......? And is $200 a fair price? There are so many fakes around I do not want to be scammed......... and finally with a little adjustment Many thanks again to all...
  3. Another spin on this - has anyone ever seen a Rep 555B endlink - closed style, as if to fit a drill lug case? We all know well the 455B rep................
  4. Amstaff - many thanks for your input. The 555 end link was standard for the Datejust and the 550 for the GMT series (with fat 2mm bars). The 555B I understand was introduced later for the Datejust also? I have found evidence in the Rolex forums to confirm it was introduced - but it is not on all of the Rolex reference lists. As we know seeing is believing - and I want to see a picture if possible Your thrird link is very interesting - thanks a lot.
  5. Thread title says it all - looking for a picture of a gen 555B endlink as fitted to later 62510H Datejust jubilee bracelets - just an end link, or ideally a full bracelet? Inside of the clasp shot would be useful also Many thanks
  6. I have a cousins/Sternkreuz 116 fitted on my Josh 1655 and it is fine. Fit of crystal onto case was straightforward. Fit of bezel ring over crystal was a little more difficult. Funny thing is I have had two of these 1655's from Josh and on the second I was able to fit a Clark 116, but could not get the Cousins 116 to work??? The fit of the bezel ring over the clark was also a tight fit and I had to take a tiny surface off the inside of the ring - only microns, then lubed the ring before pressing down.
  7. Well done, that is a great start...........I would want to take away some of the outside of those CG's............?
  8. lets do the time warp again.............
  9. The 1655 strap is a great quality ($100) copy of the 'Kobold Explorer' strap ($300 ouch!) - just makes a nice change from all those oysters...
  10. Highly contagious indeed......worse that the PAM affliction
  11. +1 on that theory Dizzy...........my helpful watchmaker is just one of those. He pulled a 1680 bezel friction washer out of the drawer for me recently.............and supplied/fitted it FOC. If only he knew what the going rate was - but I do take good care of him
  12. Guess we're paying for his time to handle and process the order - we all have fixed costs! Anyhow, noticed the '6' on 26 is closed and not open as it is on the gen DJ picture? I will chat to one of my CAD guys about this..........it must be possible to scan and create. BUT I need the best original artwork to start with? Any ideas?
  13. So a year ago I thought I would never wear a Rolex........THEN the contagion set in; and is still spreading.... Pictures were taken as the sun went down and are not the best, but I thought I would share I have recently picked up some vintage pearls from a US watchsmith (with some support from Grifter - thanks Mike) and this has enabled me to make some progress.... A few more 1655 shots..........7836 folded bracelet with age!!!
  14. Fascinating read this guys - great stuff. I do not have the photographic skills to match Blix and Omgiv, but having first conclued that my 'so called gen crowns' were fake, I am now not too sure. They were sold as 703's from a very reputable source. They are however, like many here, monobloc construction like the 704? Having researched and bought numerous so called gen 703's from a number of sources (which seem reputable?), I dont recall ever seeing a crimped 703???? So maybe the market is flooded with excellent, aftermarket monobloc 703 copies. There cant be THAT many old and used second hand, recycled 704's out there - surely????? Come to think of it, how do they all reach the open market when we know that AD's and RSC's control the arket so tightly these days?
  15. Great information and education here - seems I may have been duped as well in the past? So, all gen 703's are crimped; all gen 702's are crimped; and gen 704's are solid?
  16. Great pair Frank. I've got the 288 and just considering to pull the trigger on 212...............this is not helping my ability to resist!
  17. So finally my watchsmith sourced some replacement parts for the A7750 engine and fitted a replacement genuine ETA German day wheel and a new day/date gear assembly.... Thought I would pop up a few quick pictures, as this piece is no longer available from dealers and not seen around the forums like it once was. At its time (and even now) its been highly rated as one of the early super reps with very few/slight flaws. I am also fortunate enough to have a complete spare bracelet with this piece - as they were a little short in length originally.. And a few wristies...... and finally ....
  18. Bargain for sure...........
  19. I had a MBW/MBK sourced version - now moved on. Case was marked X52547 and 'ORIG POLY DESING 6541' It was correct smaller size for this model. This was it out of the box.....no mods. I wish that I had kept it for a 6542 project! Super high dome crystal and rehaut seemed ok on this one - these shots are highly magnified and distorted by the macro lens? Good luck with your search - I moved it on as I could not carry a $100k watch
  20. Wow Robbie - beautiful watch and stunning pictures. Is this the latest DJ II with larger case set? It certainly has a lot of presence.
  21. Great mod Cats! wish my quick and dirty shots could look that GOOD!
  22. A little progress report............ I have sanded it to recess; bleached, sanded and polished to get that aged blue/grey faded look................had to pop the 'orrible pearl! How it looks now.... How the insert looked originally 'after the bike crash'..... and next to my 1680....... :munch:
  23. Nice one J - very efficient update to a great value piece? Maybe if you reshape them CGs on the upper face - make them less rounded and curved? They might appear a little higher is less rounded and fat? I was wondering what the bracelet set up was on this one - that looks like the lower quality 93150 hollow mid link with the open 580's? That crystal sits quite high and domed - what do you think of it?
  24. OP - great project some comments and observations.... On the original pictures its interesting to see the difference in rehaut depths between the gen and rep. The gen looks quite deep? Never noticed that beofre - could be camera macro lens distortion? Also that gen crystal profile is great.......do you know what it is? If T19 it seems to sit high above the bezel? Latest CG pictures - well done so far, but now be brave and maybe take some of the outside face to thin them down and point them off a little from a side elevation - gently , gently, a little at a time..... Congratulations......
