  1. Ha ha ha D - wonderful collection, you kept that quiet! You have to be so careful what you say in this world...... you never know who is listening LOL
  2. The 380 is a great bang for buck rep - keep it and enjoy it. Only people who spend all day looking at Macro blow up pics on PC screens will ever think of looking at the PANER AI - and even then it is nowhere near as bad as this simple illustration suggests Still probably the best OOB Radiomir rep case - and Rad watch 'bang for buck'..............?
  3. Making me miss my old collection....wonderful ensemble and pictures. Gonzo back 36 front 1665 (fat bezel ) left Flake right as you look at them? What is a 'big gonzo'................
  4. Should be fine but you should test first once you receive it. My last 3 tc subs have all passed tests for swimming and shower without issues.
  5. What is the folding flaw? I have v3 and v4 and gen and do not understand? V3 bracelet with v4 clasp remains the best in my opinion, but I have no idea what a v5 is?
  6. Hi D - its an urge that many old regulars get from time to time. I like your Gen choice. I went for the original Moonie Speedmaster myself, then the Rolex DJ 1601 and Tudor Snowflake - all after getting hooked on Reps. I will warn you now, your 'thousands of pounds worth' of Gens can easily end up as watch queens, if you do not clear out all of the Reps! LOL I still have a box full of Reps (again after selling many) - which tend to get out more than others.................. My biggest regret so far is I had a chance to buy a friends Gen Pam 116 F, at a bargain price last year and I turned it down. That mistake will go with me to my grave. That decorated movement bridge, Ti case and Tobacco dial was to die for........... The big issue today is that you can literally have 4-8 decent Pam Reps for the price of one Gen?
  7. You are now getting into the finer nuances of the Rolex Submariner world, but the flat four insert was OEM on earlier Sub models and not the later models of the latter years in the mid 2000's to 2008. I am sure someone here will chime in and say when the pointy 4 insert became standard for OEM and service parts. As many have said Joe Public will not have a clue. Has your watch arrived yet?
  8. Probably not as the reps come in the same 115/75 size for tang and deploy Unless you can source an xl 115/95?
  9. Great picture set, especially the dali!
  10. Thats a great review, thanks for sharing. Some highlights for me. ?....... The detailed pics of the dial fonts clearly illustrate the many differences in font styles and spacing even across the same gen series! Look at the different M fonts in the three Swiss Made pics alone? The same can be seen in several other characters in the main dial text. I am really not clear why the kh dial is thought to be the best TC dial, as it has as many differences, as the earlier TC dial and to the naked eye on the wrist none can really be seen? Some early TC dial batches had QC issues, but a properly QC'd dial is also superb. I completed a detailed review of my gen PJ coded 2008 bracelet, against my TC V3/V4 PJ bracelet and it really is very very close in detail, form, feel and finish. Many gen bracelets do not have the 93250 stamped on the back in later series so this is not an issue. Personally I think your crown guard analysis is superb, but what it does also show is why a gen crown upgrade is worthwhile? You can see in the bottom picture it really does make a difference and it eliminates the slipping clutch issue with many TC crown springs. Thanks again for a brilliant insight and all of the above is meant to add some value to your great analysis. I vowed for years that I would never wear a rep modern Rolex sub, but my BK TC franken changed all of that! ENJOY YOURS :-)
  11. I have some avitt dlc tourby crowns in the box if that helps? Pm me for details
  12. OMG M that is superb.......... Never forgiven myself for just missing out on your last one ha ha.
  13. Great start to your rep journey.... Picking up on a couple of points above 99% of the people you meet will never tell your OOB v6 TC is a rep However 75% of the 99% will assume its a rep anyhows....LOL I have a TC LN with gen insert, gen crystal, and gen crown. These upgrades installed approximately double the cost of the watch but it dont get better The TC bracelet is superb, I did a direct comparison review of the v3/v4 TC PJ serial rep combo, against my gen PJ coded. Its very, very accurate, no one but a real expert would tell the difference. Most so called experts are found on the rep boards.
  14. Nice pick up. This certainly helps bury the myth that all gen calendar wheels are properly centred, or is it the angle?
  15. Great looking piece. Enjoy. Cant beat a gen insert. ........and a gen crystal with correct date mag:-)
  16. Great piece OP Do you have any progress to report or has it moved on? :-)
  17. Excellent, many thanks. So as I thought, I have a bunch of early 703's that fit on a standard 703 tube, that explains it! Thanks again for the education and links. :-)
  18. Wasnt the low grade batch limited to 150 x 318s and OP recalled all buyers for a free upgrade. If yours slipped through that net, it may still be an open offer. But yours is an 000 of course? I have seen other gen Pams with the same slightly pinnacled CP, so they out there. I have thought the same from time to time. As Pete says, model, age, hands and movement are all variables. Take it to an AD and get the back off, or buy a case tool. Its worth checking out.
  19. I am getting a little confused here The various pictures above of 702 crowns all have the correct deep, tall coronet, but not all tall coronet crowns are 702 s are they? I understood the 702 had the tall coronet and thinner sectiona as shown also above. Arent the wrapped, tall coronet triplocks from the late 70's the early 703s? If not, then 702s as described here fit 703 tubes and seal up to 7 and 10 atm? I have one installed on my 1665 mbw now. I have even had one installed on a TC 16610 for some time cos the TC crown was playing up? Both were pressure tested to 10 atm. I always assumed these were early wrapped, tall coronet 703s? Can anyone clarify this - I expect freddy or Ubi will know? My 1665 is featured in a live thread from me a few posts below - which crown is that?
  20. Answer will lie here no doubt..........nice pick up :-) http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1225555808/Rolex+Submariner+16610LV+(Lunette+Vert)+-+The+
  21. Theres got to be a great story behind this shot, tell us more? Or, are you in charge of sand raking?
