  1. Yeah, I also saw that article. Gold is actually much easier to work with over SS because of its malleability. It's absolutely insane, for brands like AP, the difference between a Rose Gold Rubberclad and an SS one is almost $25000 list, and there's not all that much gold on it to begin with (liberal estimate of 4 ounces of 18K). And now, there's this chutzpah about raising prices because of increased costs, yeah as if charging a 1000% markup wasn't enough.
  2. Well, I guess in this world, there is always the saying "If it's too good to be true, it probably is" But I don't understand how the fakes can look 100% exactly the same. I compared my D&G jacket to pictures of the fake one and it looks exactly the same! The tags are all there, the hologram on the jacket is there......... I had trouble sleeping last night thinking I may have paid 15 times more than what I needed to for a jacket.
  3. Guys are forgetting this one is in White Gold....... Hence the price. The SS one is far cheaper, and I can get it for maybe US$4000 brand new.
  4. I'm getting curious now, are most clothing items on eBay fake? I went snooping around eBay looking for examples of clothing I already have, and I found my Dolce and Gabbana jacket for $40 on eBay, while it cost more than $650 from the D&G boutique in Toronto! I also found a pair of the Diesel jeans I have for $25 on eBay as well. The funny thing is, all of these items I see have tags, everything! It also goes the same for items like soccer jerseys, I have a ton of them, and all of them seem to go for $20, but $100 in the stores? I know many of these are from Thailand which does make them somewhat dodgy. I'm sort of confused, can anyone explain to me why it is so? It's either 99% of all clothing items on eBay are fake or I'm getting ripped.
  5. Roger Dubuis Easy Diver Chronograph.... This watch is sweet..... I met someone last night at a party with one, one bad ass watch..... badder than the PAM 187!!!!!!
  6. Both look fine to me. The second one actually looks like a generic picture pulled from a Panerai catalogue too.
  7. $2750 sounds like too much to me when I can get a genuine GP 18K gold chronograph used for $3500. Otherwise, it would still be quite nice.
  8. Look at Puretime's version Correct VC logo and date window, along with correct placement of the markers! But then they ****ed up the rehaut markings and the "Vacheron Constantin" font on the dial. http://s16.photobucket.com/albums/b14/pure.../OVERSEA%20NEW/
  9. Well, this explains the "2892" in my VC Overseas. I found it strange it had no ETA markings the whole time. But these movements are damn nice, especially the 2892 copy, it has been keeping close to perfect time over a few weeks, and it has been very reliable so far.
  10. Well, I used to have the black dial version for the genuine one and it indeed was a stunner. I had a hard time deciding dial colours at the AD, but I liked the sportier look of the black dial more. I found also the black dial offers a nice contrast to the metal and is a lot more legible than the white dial version, in low light areas because the hands stand out over a black surface, and in areas with lots of reflection as well. Go for the black dial guys, you won't regret it.
  11. Nais doesn't have the mental capacity to pull something like that off.
  12. I would expect black dial to be more accurate, as I don't expect the replica's white dial to have the same silver/iridescent effect the genuine white dial one has.
  13. When I get mine, I'm open to offers, since I no longer need it.
  14. That one is off. It had a screw down crown, but it did not recess into the case like the genuine. The bracelet did now have screws on every link, and the bracelet was cut a lot duller than this one. But seriously, to be honest, I would jsut fix the Maltese cross logo and be done with it. This watch won't be spotted even up close. To prove my point, I'll wear it into VC dealers when I go to Hong Kong and the VC Boutique. I'll bet they won't catch it.
  15. I'm going to pop the logo off the silix version and stick it on here if The Zigmeister's gonna do it for me. I just ordered it, and it will go off to him for a relume and servicing. I already have a silix one anyways.
  16. The new one is essentially perfect. I just paid for one to replace the genuine I had. It's so damn nice, noe there's a screw down crown, and the correct case size and a correct clasp to boot. This is probably going to be one of the 99% out of the box replicas. Maybe a sign of what's to come? A genuine dial would be key to making this 100%, but I have a solution to the VC logo problem.
  17. Damn it, is there any way you could possibly convert it to 7753? I'm thinking maybe you could just take a stndard 7753 movement and pop it in? The datefont may not be right, but at least you've got a reliable movment and a correct date function. I'm very close on the breaking point of ordering this too. And does anyone here also know if the Co-Axial 7750 with the seconds @9 would fit in this?
  18. Shady is going to give me a bit of work to do.... I remember when I had to correct Ken's spelling
  19. Anywhere from $1.09 Canadian a litre in the morning, to around $1.04 Canadian in the evening.
  20. Long overdue and well deserved. Good riddance, we can close this dramatic chapter in the history of RWG finally.
  21. Well, here's the funny thing. I chipped a large portion of my coffee desk off once by accident, and I was surprised it wasn't sawdust stuff. I have bought Dwell magazine before, but the stuff in the back isn't accessible to me in Canada I would assume. Oh well, I'm moving out later this year, might as well ditch all the old stuff and pick up some new stuff. Any specific recommendations you can make? Thanks.
  22. Gosh I got quite a laugh out of reading that. I use mostly IKEA furniture in my apartment building, and I've been more than happy with the quality after a few years for the price I paid. The funiture gives my apartment a modern look without paying high prices. My laptop rests on a glass IKEA office table, and I use glass coffee tables, glass cabinets everywhere. I could never understand why I need to pay thousands of dollars for furniture if it's going to get old and worn out anyways, and even my most snobbish guests don't give two shits about what furniture I have. For me, as long as it's good quality, why pay big money? But, I do make up for this by having a $9,000 Persian rug on the carpet, a Bang and Olufsen stereo system, Toshiba plasma TV and some beautiful paintings and sketches. Of course the Persian rug looks no different from other rugs, but the quality is really there, but it's still all in the mind.
  23. All of last week, all witnesses were police officers on the scene, nothing special, everything was repeated over and over again. This morning we heard the 911 EMS calls placed by the mother of the victim, and later we heard from neighbours who heard screaming, but didn't think anything was wrong. The pathologist also began testifying after lunch, and was explaining the autopsy. We still need to hear from shoeprint experts and DNA experts. We were updated by the prosecution that they have another 28 witnesses to call, and to take another 4 weeks for their arguments, and that the defense should finish in 2 weeks after the prosecutor, to hear from both of the accused in the case, then to expect closing arguments to take place over a week, then to expect the instructions to us on Thursday 15th June, and to enter deliberations later that afternoon, which could take a very long time, as we have to decide on charges of first degree murder, charges of robbery, break and enter, sexual assault, rape and charges of committing indignities to a dead body. The problem is also, we must decide the guilt of each person on every single charge individually, and recommend sentences for each of the crimes we end up convicting them of. Good thing is, the group has selected me as their foreperson, which means I get to read out the words "Guilty" or "Not Guilty".
