  1. LOL, I would love to see an AP T3 Offshore on her wrist. (Keep in mind it's 52mm in diameter) But to be serious for a second, a foundation may be too big for her too, a 36mm wraps around my wrist perfectly, and I'm 27 years older than her.
  2. Which country are you originally from? Meaning, what country or countries does your family come from? My mother is from China, but was born in Singapore and raised there. My father is from England and Hong Kong. Our whole family immigrated to Vancouver in the mid 90's, and I moved to Toronto a year later. I have British, Chinese Hong Kong and Canadian citizenships. My fiance is from Macau, and is half-Portuguese.
  3. Absolutely adorable Joe, I can't wait to have kids myself. You are one lucky guy indeed. Happy birthday to her. Get her a Royal Oak Offshore for her birthday!
  4. I think Nanuq is referring to the car paint skid marks on the trees, that could have occured when cars hit the trees.
  5. In for a 063 too if price reaches $435.
  6. Holy [censored]..... That's really crazy. I wonder where this accident happened.
  7. Actually, I think my Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet dealer will be very happy to read this. My real estate agent has told me to wait for $550,000 now, since the $500,000 mark has already been hit. It appears where I'm living is in incredible demand because of it's location. Times are good. I would have sold it the instant I was offered $500,000, but I want to see if I can push for anymore.
  8. A offer for $500,000 just came in at 6pm. Definitely gone insane.
  9. My real estate agent called me this afternoon. The bidding on my apartment is going crazy, 4 offers came in, and the highest right now is $470,000. She told me, that I should wait another week or two, and the bidding could balloon to well over $500,000. Remember, this is just a 700 sq. ft. apartment.
  10. This is a total fantasy watch. VC made NOTHING that looked like this recently or in history.
  11. Yeah, I agree, with the rising prices, everyone is buying more than they can afford, since everything is so damn expensive now. Everyone is going to be carrying a huge mortgage on their backs at this rate, fortunately, I bought all my property with bank account balances. And there are bidding wars too. I even opened my Yorkville apartment to offers last Thursday, and I have received 2 offers, of $395,000 and $430,000, I'm close to selling it, but waiting for a few more offers to come. I stay there every now and then, I don't rent it out to people, because I don't want them trashing the place. Remember, this is just a one bedroom apartment. I bought it for investment purposes really, even though my office is in downtown Toronto, I still prefer to live in Mississauga. At least this is making up for huge losses on a apartment I had in Hong Kong.
  12. I woke up with a craving for a 44mm automatic Panerai, and this was one of them. But I am just disappointed that the function is not like the genuine, where there are the "hour clicks" for real GMT adjustment. It just seems wasteful to employ a 2893 if they didn't use it to its full advantage. It could become a collector item like the DW Daytonas and 2892 SMP's, but come on, we're talking about reps here. Not investments exactly. Same for genuines.
  13. Thursday and Friday wasn't bad, we got through 2 crime scene investigators, and there was some interesting cross-examination. The judge even cracked a few jokes before we left on Friday night. The courthouse was filled with people that afternoon, since there were two high profile murder cases that had verdicts in that afternoon, on the same floor as us, and the ground floor was full of media reporters, and they were having press conferences with the attorneys, the victims families on the guilty verdicts in both cases. Media was blocking every single exit of the courthouse, which was quite annoying. And we get a one week break.
  14. I was wondering, have any of you in the US and Europe experienced insane price rises in real estate? It's happening in Toronto, I have a downtown Toronto apartment and a house in the suburbs. My apartment is in the Bay-Bloor section (Yorkville), and the price has gone up more than 30% in the last 2 years I bought it (from $300,000 to $390,000)! But my house has experienced an even bigger increase, it's a tiny townhouse in Mississauga, which I bought in 1998 for $159,000. Yesterday, a identical townhouse on my street sold for $295,000, and this is for a lot which is facing someone else's backyard! Mine faces a creek and forest, which apparently makes it even more valuable, and recently, I've been getting at least a call every night from a real estate agent asking me if I wanted to sell. And it appears that the market isn't slowing down yet. Plenty of houses for sale, and many are going for upwards of $500,000 in Toronto, even some very ordinary houses are going for $600,000. It used to be quite uncommon for anything to be over $350,000, as far as I know.
  15. Many Purists were very divided about this one. There were the people who didn't like the fact it had a annual calendar instead of a perpetual calendar, and the colours of the dial, because they decided to use red and blue numbering. But, it's quite a milestone for Patek to introduce their first automatic chronograph movement, with a annual calendar. At 55K, it's not bad for a Patek, especially since it's in Platinum. It would be great if they put out a steel (not bloody likely, however), but I hear they will put out YG, RG and WG versions, and should run about 40K. At 55K in Platinum, don't even think about owning one. The waiting list will still probably be years long, as this is what happened with the 3712 Nautilus. But a 50K for a Patek, I would rather buy a used 5059 Perpetual, than this design disaster. IMO, most of the stuff Patek has been putting out recently is pretty bad. You should see the new Minute Repeater Skeleton Perpetual Calendar. It looks like a cheap Chinese skeleton fantasy.
  16. I'm the one who recently bought a RO dial, but it's for an Offshore T3 which I'm using for a frankenwatch. ratchpot, let me guess, the dial was too small? If you're the person I'm thinking about, you bought the dial for a 33mm, not a 36mm.
  17. It is impossible to get these links from AP. I have tried endlessly to get them for my RO Jumbo/15300/RO Chrono. I can get them for the RO Chrono, but they only sell WG ones, no SS ones and they are $300 a piece, and when you multiply that by 4, that's $1200! I was bent on putting my RO Chrono on a croc or rubber strap, but if I wanted to buy an OEM deployant buckle and strap, it adds up very quickly. I would love to get some of these links. What's funny in all this is, AP will not sell SS endlinks for Offshore chronos, but will sell bracelets.
  18. I wish I could turn the clock back and bought the Patek 3712 I wanted. I held out too long, passed up on 2 at ADs with discounts, and now they're going for insane prices. You can never be too sure about watch prices. They are worth different prices every now and then. Late last year, most FP Journe tourbillons on the secondhand market were going for something like $65,000, but most recent sample I'm seeing are $72,000 and above.
  19. If you want a good PAM, get the old 8 days with the JLC movement. That's a good watch worth owning. With the exception of the El Primero, Angelus movement Panerais, the rest are way overpriced and not worth owning.
  20. 2 days later, the watches were carelessly thrown on the doorstep of my house.
  21. The first witness is done. It only took 7 full days. We had to leave at 6pm tonight, for the witness to finish, we normally leave at around 4pm every day, but the witness said he needed to go back to work, and had to finish up. It was just so damn boring going through the entire day with 3 20 minute recesses and a 1 1/2 hour lunch. Mind you, we started at 9am today.
  22. OK, maybe my reply was half-assed to bres's post. Here's the lowdown: 1) I have not mentioned the actual case. 2) I have attempted to search for the case over the internet using the details I provided and it is impossible to. 3) It is not my real legal name, but it is my adopted english name, but my genuine name is way different. 4) In Canada, it is all right to talk about the case but the problem is when you discuss what goes on in the jury room. Everything I'm saying here took place in the courtroom, which is open to members of the public. What will be secret is what we talked about when we go into deliberation, but everything else is public knowledge, as long as we don't write out the offender's names for public viewing because they are young offenders. 5) We are allowed to write about the case, as long as we again, don't write about what went on in the jury room and what led us to our ultimate decision and verdict. Another gray area is if we compromise the case by talking to witnesses or the defense/crown attorneys.
  23. Not my official legal name. I have nothing to worry about.
  24. The defense grilled the witness today. He eventually admitted he accidentally touched the blood and may have contaminated some fingerprint evidence too. But the defense kept being repetitive, and the judge had to tell him to stop.
  25. Understated elegance: Royal Oak silver dial 15300 at the courthouse today.
