  1. I cannot remember seing a post about this before. I think your best option is to ask either The Zigmeister or Francisco for advice. Good luck.
  2. I asume that you are referring to a PAM/ETA 6497 cannon pinion? If so, why would you want to do this....? I find it very hard to spot a difference between a gen cannon pinion and a replacement ETA high canon pinion. If there is any, it is only visible with extreme macro side-by-side comparison. While the pinion is a delicate thing to mod, there are many other flaws on the average PAM rep and they are visible to the naked eye. So if you want to improve your PAM, I would try dial, CG, lume, movement and case first before attacking such a miniscule part. If you this is not PAM/Eta, just ignore my comment....
  3. A fantastic post that brings back a lot of memories as I too started 06 on TRC and was moving across the boards, finally ending here on RWG. I still remember a lot of your activity on TRC and while I have learned many useful tricks from your modding posts, I was always a fan of your sizzling and yet tasteful erotic photography. Great to have you on board, Gio.
  4. Couldn't make up my mind this morning, so I put on the watch I always wear when I'm undecided...
  5. Congratulations... bet you never imagined when joyning a rep forum that you would end up with such a beautiful gen for the price of a Spagetti dinner....
  6. The UDT 1000 XL is a very nice watch. It's big,(I have one myself and it wears like a PAM)and a great tool watch. It's quartz - but I don't really care. Chase Durer is not a huge Seiko like company, but a smaller US brand. Most of their watches are assembled in Switzerland and then shipped to the US. Sometimes, if one model is very popular, they run out of stock and need to reorder. That's what happened here. Try their website...(name+com)
  7. @Andy...maybe you should offer him one of your modded movements...
  8. As ususal, a very imaginative and professional mod. I love reading your mod-posts...
  9. I have used my UPO, my SFSO, my MBW 16610, my 16610 noobmariner and my PAM111h in the water. Generally, a non chrono watch will be more likely to survive as pushers (if they are not screw down as with the Oris CC) are potential leaks. However, all the aforementioned watches were checked by me or a watchmaker (caseback tight?, crystal ok?, manufacturing defects?, tube striped? seals present and greased?) before they saw any water. I bought a Bergeon water proof watch pressure tester on ebay a couple of years ago and now have a watchmaker who does the test as part of the movement service.
  10. This is my summer beater. I don't scubadive with it, but I swim and shower with it. Having said that.... this does not mean that all Carlos Coste reps can be used for that because one thing that separates gens from even good reps is the total lack of QC. This means, you could have a watch with a loose caseback, ungreased or absent seals, deformed or striped tube..... Before getting your rep wet, check it and have it pressure tested by a watchmaker.
  11. Can't let that beauty pass by.... ticket bought.
  12. I've been sort of monogamic lately.....
  13. Observations: the "Links" link doesn't work (for me). "View new Content" needs to be clicked twice before displaying results. (running Opera, last version and RWG original skin)
  14. I have never seen a gen 196 with recessed subdials. Here's a few gen pictures from my (reference pictures ) collection. Click on pictures for bigger version.
  15. Excellent pictures.... nice watch (in fact I'm wearing the same one as I'm typing this...)
  16. VERY nice and tasteful composition...
  17. I remember on the old TRC seeing pictures of your amazing collection and amazing it still is.... Welcome back Bill.
  18. Beautiful watch and a true classic. Congratulations. The dial looks like it has been relumed?
  19. Nice find. I'm using a Logitech VX Nano of which the receiver is same size as yours (and can just remain in the notebooks USB port), but the mouse (even though it small) is much bigger in comparison. I would have tactile problems with such a micromouse and rather use the touchpad....
  20. I guess HK is special in that respect. In terms of size, it is a rather "small" place, with a lot of affluent people crowded into little space. It is also at the front door of the world's center of replica production. Once you go to other major cities around the world, especially outside the Far East, you will see not that many AP's in the wild and average Joe on the street will not have a clue. I have never been asked about my EOD as it is rather a stealh - than a "bling" watch, while people have commented on my PAMs, my Rollies at al. Furthermore, even though I'm a long time watch afficionado (which means I always look at peoples wrists) and do see quite a bit of wealthy people in my business, I have never seen anyone wearing an EOD. I myself know the gen only from pictures. In my eyes, my chances of seeing the real deal in person are close to zero. I also think that for the bulk of the rep buyers, (and I DON'T mean the people who spend their time on fora like this and for whom this is more of a hobby), the main reason for buying a rep is that they want to show off. For that you need a watch that gets noticed... - why do you think the factories have waited so long to do an EOD sec@12 while at the same time chunking out generations of Submariners, Seadwellers and DSSD...? jm2c
  21. Very nice new arrivals.... and of course I can share your passion for the Rubberclad I bought the noob Expl II as well a year ago and it has since become my watch of choice whenever I can't make up my mind in front of the watchbox. By the way, how do you rate the rubber bezel? Does it feel (more) solid than on the the early sec@12?
