I know as soon as I post this I'm going to find what I'm looking for. But here goes.
I've heard rumors of a new Asian 6497 with a high beat and better finishing. Has anyone seen this? Any pics?
I'm not a big fan of the Patek. Whenever I see the Patek, I think of a lava lamp, pink [censored] carpet, and paisley wallpaper. Oh, and bellbottoms. I think the watch is the most dated timepiece out there, except for maybe that clamshell bracelet Omega thingy.
I'm not real crazy about the Royal Oak, but some of the chronos (i.e. the End of Days) are just badass.
The WATCH I swore I would never buy was the HBB. The first time I saw it I thought it was beyond ugly. This was in pictures. Then I saw it in person in a watch shop in Chicago. The watch is so much better in person -- I couldn't believe it.
This is good news. It sounds like a number of new ones are on the way. Shouldn't the autos be somewhat easier to rep? I mean, they all have closed casebacks so the movements aren't dead giveaways. But that font and cyclops sure seem to elude the makers.
This is an amazing watch. I just got one in a trade, and I couldn't be happier with it. I wonder whether it would be worth it to buy a gen bracelet? I'm definitely going to pick up an OEM rubber strap (because how can you not?) but even $135 on the 'bay seems steep.
Oh! An "empire." Hey, Zig, did you know that you've been dubbed "EMPEROR?!?" No $hit. That's the coolest thing ever. Hey, how's the view from the tallest tower in the tallest castle in all of REPworld? Do the cars look like little toys? And the people are like little ants? Can you peer through your fingers at people and squeeze their heads? (*pinch, pinch*)
There just isn't any way to ever get the movement right. Panerai spends too much time and money on embellishments. There are some pictures of mine floating around on the forum and the finishing is just lightyears beyond the reps. But we all know this, right? You will never, ever, ever fool any 'Risti with a display back PAM, not even the 036.
I will say, though, that the engraving on this E movement is a step forward.
All due respect to DSN, his watches are the lease mod-able. There are some very good things out of the box about DSN watches, but the 036 from these makers KILLS his 036.
Miss September, eh??? What was wrong with Miss June?
