  1. This thread made me laugh a little.. A norweigan politician flashes a rep! Does this mean he will be a liar and a fake!? ;)

    ......................................

According to their opponents all politicians are liars. So, the watch must be fake.

  2. I can't access that link - it gets blocked malware?

On a search I cannot find any watch store in storgata 14 either?

    Regards

    Thomas

Adjust your security settings in browser or viruscontroller. Or send me your email and I will mail you the picture. Or go down there and you will fint the shop.

I can assure you the shop was there last week :cc_detective:

  3. Yes I am also interested. Hilsen fra en nordmann til :)

The only weatchsmith I found in Storgata is this one:

    Johansons Max Eftf AS

    Storgata 10 A inng. Skipperg., 0155 Oslo

    Is it perhaps that simple?

OK. I will check if the watchsmith my friend used is the closed one or the still open one. Give me a couple of days, my friend is not at this forum.

  4. Got mine from BK a couple of weeks ago. Had it modified (by BK) with the smaller crown and of course the Clark without etched crown.

Mine is running a stable +4 secs a day when wearing it.

I am amazed by that litte movement, running sharp and actually holding "some hours more than 40 h" reserve.

Only one issue bothers me with the watch, considered the amount of time and effort put into building this watch at WM and by BK, why not put in an extra hour the round up the edges of the case and the bracelet before assembledt? Edges is very sharp. Of course I know this is a general issue(more or less) of all reps, but I would no doubt be willing to add to the price if I could avoid the disassembly, "rounding", assembly.

All in all, very satisfied with the watch and the service. Go for it if you want a very good out of the box sub.

I may have to put mine on the Sales Forum shortly :( to help fund a couple of Omega gens :Jumpy: I have in the buying pipeline.

  5. I can understand your sorrow, Rob.

Around here in Norway a lot of my friends, relatives and neighbours are working in the oil industry off-shore in the North Sea and in the North Atlantic. Over the 35 years of industry we have had some larger and a lot of smaller accidents.

  6. Hi

The one I have been wearing last 8 days, ETA 2678 (WM9 ver 2 etc) is stable +4 a day when used for "deskdiving" and ordinary outdoor activities.

I have some ETAs, a couple of Asian 21J, some 6497 (one or maybe two of them Swiss), a couple of A7750 and a couple of Omega Gens. They all - more or less - runs -5/+8 sec when I wear them. Accurate enough for my use.

I do not keep detailed records of Accuracy. As far as I see this I am not able to point out that one particular movement is more accurate than the other. Guess - for my watches at my level of focus of the issue - it is more questions of keeping them clean, oiled and decent adjusted than questions of mechanical accuracy. Probably with exceptions for the Omegas, which I hope (price considered) may be adjusted to more accuracy than the CN and ETA movements.

  7. .................................................... What would you guys do?

I would really consider going to therapy to work on my attitude towards other people!!! The uniform guy(s) are actually doing a job the society you are a member of has hired them to do. With what right are you doing their job more difficult and unpleasant?

Yes, I go to fast. Yes, I trade counterfeits. Yes, I do........... But, I also accept that this is against the laws of my society, and are prepared to take the "punishment". Grow up, man, and fight laws and regulations the proper ways, not by bullying civil servants and uniformed servants who is doing what we have told them to do.

  8. That's about what I excepted, AllergyDoc. I paid $750 for my DJ... ouch :-) I had done a lot of research and decided that was the most reputable site. Wish I had found this place!

    Rough learning, docta.

I have been one of the lucky (probably more critical than lucky, actually) who found this site before I bought my first rep. I have invested "a lot" in three extraordinary Rollies the last few days, and probably must/will sell a few of my "standard" reps the coming weeks. Guess I will be able to obtain appr 2/3 of what I paid. Thanks to helpful advices on this forum, dosen of hours forum-reading and fair and respected dealers/collectors I bought from.

If you like the watch and can come by without selling at $100++, consider keeping it. No loss before you have sold you know.........

  9. I'm awaiting two watches from the UK, and today I received a letter from the post office telling me

to send in my social securitynr. and a receipt for the goods in the package.

What to do... what to do...

I live in Norway. Any fellow collectors from Norway that has any experience with this?

    Damn :(

    Nex

    Hi,

Posten is doing the customs declaration on behalf of Norwegian Customs. They need your number to identify you and invoice value to charge you for VAT (and a fixed fee of appr NOK 200 for the job).

I have had a couple of cases similar to your situation. My strong advice is to get an invoice at a low amount from your provider, give a copy to Posten and pay your taxes - if you want the watches this side of Christmas. My experience is that it is near impossible to argue anything with Postens Declaration Office, the option they will give you is to file a written complaint (in three ex !!!) to Toll- og avgiftsdirektoratet. They will most likely turn your complaint down. And it is a lot of work for you.

One of the cases I had was a parcel form California, declared as "Personal Gift, value 100$". The parcel was shipped from a business account at USPS. Was charged VAT etc based on Customs assessment that a personal gift is not shipped from a business, such cases considered to be a business gift.

One other case Posten ignored that the goods was actually declared correctly as personal gift. Posten informed me that I had to file a complaint to Toll- og avgifts..... due to "done is done", and Posten only acts on behalf of Customs. And can not override Customs decisions!! God, give us grace to accept with serenity the things that cannot be changed, courage to change the things that should be changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other.

To be sure of having your stuff through customs without VAT etc, it must be Customs declared by shipper as "Personal Gift" (that is from person to person, no business). A declaration of "Gift" without the personal will probably cost you VAT and Fees

  10. I have had my "middle of the road Asian 111H" on my wrist almost everyday since received it in february this year. I do not frequent up with watch interested people. But - anyway - up until tuesday this week nobody I have met with probably even knew the brand Panerai, but a lot of people has commented the watch as "nice, interesting, uncommon etc".

Tuesday this week I was sitting in the cantina at work when fellow across table suddenly commented "nice PAM". He was obviously no expert, but interested in Panerais. I handed him my watch and he still assumed a gen although he probably was a little unsure. When I told him it was rep he lifted his sleeve and showed his wrist with an absolutely awful "fantasy PAM". He told me that he actually was saving up to buy a gen.

The "fantasy PAM" triggered this guys interest in Panerais and in mech watches in general. So, wear your "fantasy" well and move on to a bit more sofisticated reps or maybe gens when that time comes.

  11. Thanks! Could not e clearer. I also notice the font on the gen is darker on the date wheel and the date window is more beve;ed. Great pics!

Observe that photo of gen is clearer (less blurry) than photo of rep. May be why font looks darker etc. Black is black ?

My piece also has the line underneath. Probably non have the correct letters?

By the way - PF is my (stupid) abbrevations for PerfectClones. Dealers site.

  12. Ordering this watch from Josh.. My only concern is the display caseback. Does Omega even make these? I love the watch but would hate to be called out on such an obvious flaw if gens don't have this. Also, seems like an awful lot of work to make these display caseback with Omega stamped all over the parts if not gen feature. Comments please!

    Thanks!

This model gen comes with display back, just as PFs rep.

I have the same model rep - with steel bracelet. Very pleased with it. Runs accurate, very close to gen visually.

  13. I was wanting to get an Aqua Terra for my fathers B-day, he is a big guy and will need a few extra links added to the bracelet, and I have a few links left over from my PO. I was just wondering if they would be compatible with the Aqua Terra bracelet. They look like they would work from the pictures.

Do not think they are interchangeable. I have an Aqua Terra and a 42 mm PO, and at least for my watches they are not compatible. Different holes, different pins, At do not have the "cylinder inside each link and (I do not have tje PO here) i think the PO 42 mm is 20mm at watchcase and 18mm at clasp, while AT is 20/17mm.

If you by "ultimate" mean 45 mm, its bracelet is 22mm at case and xx (20?) at clasp.

    And some other differencies probably.........

  14. A very small world ;) And yes, I learnt to fish up there that last time (Henningsvær actually, where better?!), just amazing seeing your catch rise up out of the crystal clear water. Also tried my hand in that inlet 'maelstrom' - scary! Happy times indeed. :fishing1::drunk:

Looks familiar. Is that the one near Hakland? There's so many, I remember us walking to get to Kvalvika (to see midnight sun) but there's another one very long white sandy beach, not a cove but I can't remember name of  God, I hate winter in January, rain, cold, wind - will have to look at some photos :D

    Nice photos and nice weather.

I am not local to the area and have not been up there for some years now. Think the Utakleiv beach is close to municipality center Flakstad, close to Ramberg on the map.

Have been thinking of doing a summer-week in Lofoten this or next year, but after a long and wet (used to be snow, but this winter has been rain only) Norwegian winter, places further south with more stable and sunny weather has it's attractions too. We'll see.

  15. Norway is very "nice" when it comes to rep policy at the moment :)

Only if someone (Rolex/Nike official importer in Norway etc) have gotten a court order to stop spesific "fake" imports can customs take anything. So they can check a shipment with 100+ IWC watches, but as long as it has been declared as "watches, 100pcs", and a realistic value for cheap chines watches they have to let it pass after VAT etc have been paid. :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Customs have asked for new rules, but this can take some time.

So you can be totally safe as a private person carrying 2-3 used watches.

Not to hi-jack, but to fill in a bit further..............

Friend of mine works in Norwegain Customs.

Norway is obliged to same regulations of counterfeit goods as in EU, but do not act upon this as much/hard as some EU countris.

My friend says that only a few (some 4-5 brands/manufacturers) have this agreement with Customs to stop replicas. What will happen if such an aggreement exists, is that Customs will take the suspected replicas in custody and call for an expert from brand company who will check the item to determine. If found to be replica it is up to the brand company to file for legal action or file for sivil legal action. Customs never prosecute by themselves. As far as i can remember never heard of a real case where anyone has been prosecuted in Norway (does not imply that it has not happened). Probably cases is solved by brand company confronting the item owner with their finding, and giving he/she the deal of either let brand company destroy the item with no further legal action or to be prosecuted with a claims of both destroying and fines. No one will choose the latter IMO.

  16. Thanks Ape (still a bit bruised from our Cup games this week :black_eye:)

I have to say Olso airport was one the most stress-free I've ever been through, although my paranoia stems from the fact that I did get 'inappropriately frisked' by some scary butch uniformed woman on my way out last time - I know some people pay good money for that kind of thing but trust me it wasn't a pleasant experience.:lol:

As for Lofoten, I've been up there before in summer a few years back as I have friends there (one of whom is getting married this summer!). Just an idyllic place, a dream to spend every summer there (I remember this one beach, the most perfect beach in the world) and can't wait to go back.

    Thinking of Utakleiv Beach ??

Yes, it is something very special. Green 3.000 feet steep mountains, white powder beaches, North Atlantic Ocean directly at the beach and 400 miles noth of the Polar Circle.
