My take on this subject is:

No matter what the movement looks like, if it is not reliable and there are no parts available...what good is it?  (not much imho)  No one can see through the case anyway.

I would rather have a reliable swisseta ticking away for years.  If and when it needs parts, they are cheap and easy to find, plus anyone who can fix an average watch can work on one.  Even me.  :pimp:

One other problem with rolexclones (not eta base) is when you finally give up on one, an eta is not a drop in replacement...the dial feet, hands, dwo etc will not work on an eta.  For this reason an etaclone may be a good/better choice first time around because when it quits, you can remove it, stomp it flat, and replace it with a swisseta.

Here is a $468 Swiss ETA:  ROLYM091 - 2016 YM Mens SS/SS Grey JF Swiss 2824 for anyone who is searching for one.  $468 for a clone would be a bit pricey, wouldn't it?  Here are search results for Yachtmaster Swiss ETA's for anyone who is interested.

I think if someone had a genuine Rolex, wanted to go traveling, overseas or to a large US city, New York City or Chicago for example and wanted to keep it safe in their bank deposit box, getting a clone duplicate would be a good idea.

  2. I was wondering, with these 2 watches:

    1.  ROLYM112 - YachtMaster Ref.116622 SS/SS Rolesium BP A3135 Mod.

    2.  ROLYM093C - 2016 YM Noob Mens SS/SS Rolesium SA3135.

For the movement, they both say 25J.  I assume this means 25 jewels.  How many jewels does the genuine Rolex have?  I did a search for this info but I could not find anything.  I even downloaded Rolex's DateJust 41 PDF brochure.

If I were to wear the above 2 clones on a daily basis, how long do you think they would last?  Just curious.  One thing, I think the Chinese are getting better at making clones.  LOL.  Someday it may be impossible for anyone except for expert jewelers to know the difference.

This is just my opinion on the service of the 2 movements. The reason I give for not servicing the Asian movement is because of the quality of the parts. You can buy a brand new Asian 2836-2 or 2824-2 for around $100. A new swiss is around $220.  The main difference I see between the asian and swiss is the metal used. The quality of the metal used in the swiss is much better than the Asian. When I loop the asian parts I can see that the quality and finish of the parts is much less than those in the swiss movement. Things like the mainspring and tub, the gears in the train, the date corrector wheel, the hairspring, the yoke, the yoke corrector and so on. While you can certainly service the asian movement, by the time you get all the parts installed and put back together, you're approaching the cost of a movement. You certainly want to replace all the gears in the train, those cost around $20. The mainspring, depending on the age of the movement could be very weak, again because of the metal used to mfg. The mainspring assy is around $20. So now, if you put all those parts in, you're almost at the cost of a new movement, including the labor. I don't think I've ever seen a third wheel and pinion break on a swiss, but I've seen several on an asian. The quality of the metal used throughout the swiss movement provides years of trouble free service. While the asian movements of late have been greatly improved, and really perform well, they are still not on the quality level of the swiss. For the money, asian is still a great buy. However, if you have a major problem with it, just replace it. You'll be glad you did. That's my take on it.

Do the above quality opinions also relate to the Asia Clone 3135 Automatic Movement, 25J, 28800bph?  I was just wondering.

  4. Clear your browsing history, cookie, and cache, and try again.

www.ttw888.com is not coming up on both Internet Explorer 9 and FireFox 21.  Both are blocked on both my direct Roadrunner and USA proxy connections.  The only time it comes up is through a foreign proxy which I won't mention.  It is not PandaPow.

  5. Hello,
I wanted to let you know Andrew's site, www.ttw888.com, is not only being blocked by RoadRunner.  It is now also being blocked when going through my USA encrypted proxy.  When I use my USA proxy, nothing comes through.  I didn't think they could do that, but they have.

I suspect they will gradually cut off all USA server access to www.ttw888.com.  In the future, the only way to access it will be through foreign proxies.

  6. Just from my own research into the matter, it is not illegal to buy and own reps. Customs may be an issue, although there is theoretically a very remote chance of them seizing your reps. I purchased 5 so far and I don't even consider customs as an issue at this point.

If your watch does get seized by customs, your TD will send you out another free. Although you may want to confirm that policy depending on the dealer.

I have used Trusty and Toro and they are both great at getting the job done. If this is your first time, you may want to use Trusty since he has great customer service and his response time is unreal.

Toro is a no-nonsense pro plus he has access to Noob stock.

    Btw- Andrew's site is http://ttw168.com/

Free feel to PM me for any add'l questions.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. The watch I am thinking about buying is from Andrew's site. It's one of his better reps and costs $358. I can understand why the Euro-makers are getting nervous. It appears the quality is outstanding, shockingly good in fact. The watch's durability and longevity will have to be tested with years of ownership though. On Andrew's page, it says "Waterproof to 30m... Pressure Tested at Factory Level." I wonder if it's truly waterproof. Imagine I am at a swimming pool and it becomes waterlogged. Here is the link:

The UK Customs, I live in So. Cal. BTW, does seem to be clamping down. Here is a new example:

    http://www.rwg.cc/to...re/page__st__60

The reason why I am even posting the above questions is because, when I visited Andrew's previous site, I was redirected to a legal form instead:

    http://www.yourtrustytime.com/

That form is from a Florida court. I just don't want to get burned for $358, that's all. What does Noob mean?

  7. The problem here is the extra security surrounding the Olympic's, it is the reason I stopped shipping to the UK over the duration.

That said there has been a lot of misunderstanding in this thread.

For a start any replica goods...any brand of watch any softgoods...face the same risks during shipping.

All goods will ALWAYS state 'Handed over to customs.

Your item has not been seized until you receive notice from the customs, therefore a dealer (who will reship) will not do so until he has the draft of the customs letter stating the seizure.

    Ken

That's all very well and good. However, the watch I want to get is Andrew's ROLEXP2033. It costs $358.

    http://tinyurl.com/ROLEXP2033

That's a lot of money to gamble whether or not it will make through customs and I will actually receive it.

  8. Hello,

I have never ordered a repro watch from any maker. However, I have been looking over Andrew's site for some time now. When I visited yourtrustytime, something unexpected happened. I was redirected to a 2 page court order PDF. I live in the USA. Is it illegal to order and receive a reproduction watch? Can I get in trouble with the law by receiving a repro watch?

After reading another post on RWG, I saw that several customers are worried that their watches were seized by customs in the UK. Can this happen for USA customers? I know this is a newbie question. But if my order gets seized, am I SOL? Will Andrew send another watch or give me a refund?

Now that the watchmakers are cracking down, these are new problems for us in the Western world.

  9. Sorry for asking a newbbie type of question but I cant acess Andrew's wbesite. I'm looking for the older non date Breguet Type XX and I wonder if he would carry it.

Can someone PM me Andrew's current website link ?

    Thank you for reading this.
