  1. Scam artist is back. I couldn't believe the load of bs I was reading in his new auction, and now he wants 20k for it! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...ME:B:SS:US:1123
  2. Found an interesting bay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ROLEX-6263-v727-ORIG-C...%3A1%7C294%3A50 The price is starting to really get up there, although I had my doubts about the authenticity of this sale. Correct me if I'm mistaken, but I never thought gen rolex movements had incabloc, and it appears that the slider gear between the bridge is steel. The dial appears to be a nice gen though.
  3. Hmm.. pretty close freddy Indeed, the crown and bracelet are gen, as well as the crystal. Anyone else care to step further?
  4. Wow, that's something different! Thanks for taking the time to take the pics and for the post RG. I'll have to consider this for my long list of upcoming dials (ok, at least the ones that aren't gen tritium)
  5. Thanks Kruz! Ok, here's another one. Let's have a little fun: who can guess the gen parts?
  6. Beautiful collection guys Here's my fav: Explorer, with gen case, gen movement, gen crystal, gen crown/tube, gen strap/buckle, gen hands, and a gen gilt color change dial:
  7. Nice post freddy, and thanks for the nice pics. This subject has been addressed for years, with no one (at least to my knowledge) ever finding an exact duplicate of JB's rolex strap. Some have even said the film's coloring is in error as a result of the technicolor process. Here's an old thread from a bond forum discussing these straps: http://www.ajb007.co.uk/index.php?topic=29846&cpage=1 I'd love to find one of these straps, or even pay for a few if a run of these could be made. Here's a shot of a couple JB subs:
  8. Thanks for the update RG, and good luck with all your new projects throughout the new year!
  9. Thanks everyone for your replies and comments. Like I said in the opening post, the two-tone has always been a favorite of mine. IMO, the differences between this watch and the currently available new gen only adds a little more flavor. This happens to be a 100% original un-polished gen with 3135 motor that I recently picked up. One benefit over my slightly older tritiums, the luminova still glows like a torch!
  10. Hi, and welcome aboard. The only advice I could give is stay away from sites like the one you linked. Most if not all are simply rip-offs. Other than that, stick around a while and do a lot of research both on and off this site. I think someone here has a good 1016, but to get to that level lots of research and $ goes into it to get a watch that is worth wearing. Anything else would only embarrass you when someone calls you out.. Here's a pic of my gen 16800:
  11. Took some pictures of another all time favorite of mine. An early A-series two-tone, complete with 93153 hollow mid-link bracelet and hollow 401B endlinks. Hmm... now the only question is, is it real or rolex?
  12. This sounds like challenging project for sure. I think there may be some old ubi datewheels still hanging around; I've still got one left in my box. Perhaps Ubi could help with some advice for the proper material for the overlays. Cheers, JJ
  13. Thanks Toadtorrent, and thank you coolfire. To be honest, I've got so many projects going on right now I just may sell it if someone made me a good offer. The dial really came out great, and is one of the most accurate chocolate "meters first" red dials I have yet to see. Cheers, JJ
  14. Gorgeous 16800 vly! You gotta love this period of transition: a slowl break away from years of 1680 style, yet not quite as modernized as the 16610
  15. One good thing about the recent economic turn down, the price of vintage gens is slowly dropping. I wanted to share a recent acquisition of mine: a watch which has been a long time favorite, and one which I have been searching for a long time. This past summer, I had the pleasure of spending some time with a visiting member in NYC, and admiring his beautiful gen sub. Ever since that day, I knew I had to have one. Below are a few pics of my two transitional gens, a 16800 and a triple six. I just got the sub today, which is gorgeous IMO. This is a gen matte dialed sub with low 7 mil serial #s, and came complete with box and papers. Hope you enjoy the pics. I'd love to see any other transitional reps or gens other members may have
  16. I agree freddy and kruz, deals certainly can be found in today's market. I just picked up a transitional sub with box/papers for a great price
  17. ??? Double the speed limit??? You obviously do not Who the hell brakes a sports car with two feet? Ever hear of threshold braking? Wait a minute, you never push the limits or put others in danger, but you don't know how fast you were going? Doesn't the 911 have big round gages staring right at you? Hurting others???? You're kidding, right? I'm actually shocked to read such a story. Are you sure you're not some kid in a ricer that simply doesn't know any better for lack of life experience? I'm afraid all you've done is publicly embarrass yourself writing your post
  18. Dial appears to be NDT. Plastic insert is obviously aftermarket. Bezel appears to be too low profile, causing the crystal to appear too high.
  19. Dial is incorrect. Bezel is incorrect. Insert is incorrect. Like they would say on the gen forum, one thing wrong leads to another, which questions the integrity of the entire watch. ps: should I name where those parts came from?
  20. Thanks Stilty I figured you would like this because I know you like explorers. Good guess on it, since it is a 100% gen. I've got a 14270 in que, so when that's completed I'll be able to do a nice side by side photoshoot.
