  1. Thank you D & RG The concept of Rolex's tool watches has always intrigued me. Now I am finally able to research and slowly build my collection. I got lucky with this one; it surely is a keeper!
  2. In the conception of ordinary watch lovers, Explorer I was specially launched by Rolex just for commemorating the Everest expedition. This watch was with British explorer team consisting of Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay etc on 29th, May of 1953, achieving a great task of human being climbing. This story is definitely magic and attractive, but it still has a certain distance to the real fact. Firstly, Rolex indeed had supported Himalayan expedition since 1933, and later in Everest expeditions, Rolex had been always the official supporters, so Rolex supported each explorer team with its wristwatch. However, Rolex was not the only supporter, it is said that when Edmund Hillary climbed up on the top of Everest, what he wore is a watch from the British supporter Smith. But what Tenzing Norgay wore is indeed Explorer. On 19th, July of 1988, this watch was auctioned in Sotheby
  3. Things have been changing for quite some time on the 'bay. Our fav DRSD dial has never resurfaced
  4. SUV's are extremely dangerous. I certainly would not recommend buying one of them
  5. It's a moot point IMO. After all these are reps, and unless you were building a super franken and replacing every part with gen (including the movement), the serial #'s that are completely hidden behind the end links are a non-issue.
  6. I agree with everyone else. Terrific job Stilty, and thank you for your well documented thread! Your frankens are all top grade, and are an inspiration to anyone who strives for perfection!
  7. There's always room for more vintage no-date love...
  8. It may be real, but IMO you'd be better off buying from a trusted gen dealer for a used or a new watch
  9. Hi, I'm interested in a 3135 if another becomes available
  10. Beautiful project Stilty, perfectly done! I hope she enjoys it
  11. Awesome job D! I haven't done a pointed cg yet, but one never knows what the future holds! I love the RSC reworked look of the newer insert, flat 19, and triplock. Congrats to the builder and owner, beautiful watch!
  12. Hats off and respect to all veterans throughout the world, all of which have paid the price of duty for their countries; many with the ultimate sacrifice.
  13. I thought he was seen wearing a real bond watch, or was that just a teaser???
  14. It's opening in the US this Friday; I was thinking of seeing it
  15. Wow, some awesome watches in the FS section lately. First the Chief, VDB, Tribal, Deltatahoe, etc.. I hope who ever lands any of these gems realizes how lucky they are, given the amount of time-staking research and hard work that is obviously put into these pieces. I also hope the sellers continue to strive for better and better projects. I myself have pondered releasing one of my gems to acquire bigger and better (read more expensive) projects, but I still cannot bring myself to that selling edge.. ...maybe one day
  16. Hahaha, that bliss of ignorance will also save you a lot of $$$ !
  17. Gorgeous piece D! Wait another week or so, I've got a beauty (or two) on the way
  18. Wow, that is classy! Beautiful job, and a very generous gift that IMO is worth so much more than something you could have just gone out and bought because you built it yourself.

  20. If you do a little searching, you'll see that Bk recently did a thorough thread explaining this in detail. IMO, I will highly recommend buying it directly from Bk.
  21. Here's another favorite from vacation this past summer:
