  1. Wow, that is a gorgeous watch freddy. I've been thinking of picking up a gen, but after seeing yours I realize I need to research these quite a bit further. Thanks for posting, and wear it in good health! JJ
  2. Wow, very nice B! That watch is definitely a keeper
  3. Hi Chris, I think Ubi did this mod, so he might be the best in reply. I think the WM9 end links are splined and press fit together. I would guess a very sharp blade between the press fit pieces may get them started apart. Hopefully Ubi will see this thread and post up some neede advice! Cheers, JJ
  4. Beautiful review of a fine specimen Stephane! ...of course a gen transitional sub belongs with a gen transitional sea dweller!
  5. Here's mine. More vintage (at least for a bike) 1990 Yamaha FZR1000, one-off custom done by yours truly in "King Kenny's" 1979 winning colors: 127 rwhp... not bad for an old girl
  6. Of course you wouldn't want to promote him Stephane... ...you posted the wrong link! Love the watch! I'm still searching for one of my favorites, a 16800 Cheers, JJ
  7. 7 mil serial that has white gold surrounds? I always thought that was matte dial territory
  8. Little hero's dial looks spot-on. I may have to give up (temprarily at least!) all my rolex projects! JJ
  9. No, that is a heavy oyster clasp with the later "two line" flip-lock
  10. It refers to the running seconds subdial spacing For example, the watch below has a seconds at 9:
  11. Nice Job! Try not to go too nuts, it is a rep afterall. If you wanted to get a little closer, search for an older gen clasp, and either 380 or 580 end links Cheers, JJ
  12. Paul's Daytona- so aptly named The racing world lost a true friend. Godspeed, Paul and Steve are probably doing laps together somewhere...
  13. Haha, race to space? Didn't we do that forty years ago?
  14. There is only one acceptable answer to your problem. Take your new purchase to an official RSC and get a documented response.
  15. I'm with Nanuq, I feel guilty that I've sent you so many problems! However, you have been able to skilfully resolve each and every one of the unique problems that came up while servicing my vintage genuine movements, and for that I am grateful beyond words. I hope you and J thoroughly enjoy your well deserved trip overseas. Wow, you'll be gone for an entire month! That sounds like a great vacation Don't forget to relax a little between all the great sight seeing the two of you will be doing! Cheers, JJ
  16. Thanks for getting back ubi. I remember reading somewhere that when they increased the size of the crown for the datejusts, they re-tooled the new crowns to accept the old tubes in order to save money. If anyone has any further confirmation on this, please post up! Cheers, JJ
  17. I'm trying to gather the parts needed for a sapphire crystal explorer, and I'm having a little trouble tracking down which tube goes with the 24-603-0 crown? Ubi or Stilty? Help!!!!
  18. dluddy & ubi: Here's a wrist shot, taken yesterday
  19. DrHydro, I was at Geneseo in '06 attending the flying aces nationals the week after that airshow. I didn't get the chance to see the 'Belle take off, but they fired up all four and moved the aircraft into the hangar towards the end of the day PS: Today is at Teterboro
  20. There I was, minding my own business washing the car outside in the driveway... ..and I hear this very loud drone.. coming closer... and closer.. ..it was the sound of four sixty year old radial engines, not even a thousand feet over my home. An ancient B-17, like some kind of spooky ghost from a not so distant past, flew directly over! EDIT: I just got back from the airport where I took a couple pics of the ship as it buzzed the field, and then went around to make another pass for a landing:
  21. Thanks freddy! The case is indeed a 5513 with factory spec HEV
  22. Haha, I've got a rare one freddy! She completely understands "vintage" and loves the originality of untouched antiques. She has followed me through my vintage rolex endeavors and has even learned how to use a loupe to examine for originality. Even if she didn't understand, I would have to teach her to appreciate before I could ever bring myself to destroying this original antique piece by "refinishing"
  23. I know this is not a rolex, but moderators please forgive me, since all my friends know me for my vintage pieces on this forum, and this is where I always end up. For those of you who have met my gf, I'm sure you'll agree she is lovely. She has put up with this crazy hobby of mine and accompanied me to every gtg, so as a little surprise for her birthday I got her this beauty: It's a vintage hand wind Angelus, complete (all gen of course) with diamond bezel and white gold everything else.. Of course I'll have to add this to the top of the list for service up North (RG are you listening?)
