  1. A young ventriloquist is touring the clubs, and one night he's doing a show in a small town in Kentucky. With his dummy on his knee, he starts going through his usual dumb blonde jokes when a blonde woman in the 4th row stands on her chair and starts shouting: 'I've heard enough of your stupid blonde jokes. What makes you think you can stereotype women that way? What does the color of a person's hair have to do with her worth as a human being? It's guys like you who keep women like me from being respected at work, and in the community, and from reaching our full potential as a person. Because you and your kind continue to perpetuate discrimination against not only blondes, but women in general...and all in the name of humor!' The embarrassed ventriloquist begins to apologize, and the blonde yells, 'You stay out of this mister! I'm talking to that little [censored] on your lap'.
  2. This choice easily chased away any votes from animal rights activists McCain might have had. I think I may have to vote independent!
  3. There are products made specifically for watch o-rings (maybe someone can provide a link, or a quick google search would probably find some); however I have found that dielectric grease for electrical equipment works just as well for my needs. You can pick up a tube in Home Depot or any electrical supply house.
  4. Freddy, Thanks for the feedback on this new piece. I have to agree, that it may be a bit over the top for long time rolex lovers; however, like Kruz mentioned it is all basically a matter of opinion. I for one prefer the vintage sized watches for rolex, yet admire the tech that went into building this watch. I heard that that they may introduce a two tone:
  5. Wow, very nicely done! This is a ringer, I am very impressed. I plan on building one eventually, and I'm still in the "gathering" stage! Cheers, JoJo
  6. I'm interested in all of them, or whatever is left after the gentlemen above have gotten theirs. PM me when you get the chance

    Real or fake

Thanks for the tip, but I can read. What's wrong with someone brand new saying "hello" instead of just digging for info? I guess next time perhaps I should just say "use the search function" By the way, hi aml, and welcome to the forum There's lots of info to be read here regarding daytonas, however it will take you a long long time to digest it all (but well worth it). There are a couple members here who are "daytona guru's" and could definitely answer your questions with certainty.

First post and no introduction or even a hello?
  9. Very nice! It sounds like it's time to do some testing of the "100 yard dash in the rain!"
  10. First Mr. Bond, you must survive long enough! ...Perhaps the Tropic strap for the beach would be more in order
  11. Yes Q? What have you got for me??? Commander Bond, I have a very special upgrade to your issued 5508... Try not to break it!!!! I'll do my best Sir...
  12. The MBW 1665 case is far enough off the mark that the serial numbers are a moot point.... ...IMO of course
  13. This was a terrific decision on the part of the admin team. I for one know that the cost of building a quality piece can be very expensive; however, at the same time I do not recommend anyone to consider that type of expense without first having a thorough knowledge of what they're buying. I personally have found that only years of research and learning can acquire that. However, the enjoyment I've found in learning and finding and building is far greater than just throwing down a wad of money and buying something.
  14. Tom, I'll admit this was an interesting building. The photo doesn't show the interesting design feature of the car elevator that traveled the entire height in the center of the building. It appears that there is obviously not enough room to maneuver a car in the least bit! (haha, hope that they remember to set the parking brake on their 100k Benz!)
  15. Great find, thanks Heywood!
  16. Wow, I finally woke up this morning (with my legs still sore from walking all over Manhattan with Stephane yesterday!), and I read all the great responses to this thread. Lor and I are glad we came in to the city on Monday to meet everyone and share great conversation, laughs, and a few drinks Jay, I'm sorry to hear your car got towed, what a bummer. I think they make the "no parking" signs so confusing on purpose! I've got all the original pictures that Lor and I took at the restaurant, and I'll email them to everyone this afternoon as soon as I get a chance in between work. Stephane, what can I say, you are a complete gentleman and I am very glad I took the time to come back into the city yesterday and show you around to some of my favorite watch places and sights. From 47th street to Grand Central, with a subway ride down to the Brooklyn bridge. From there walking out to Canal street where we saw some of the worst "china town reps"! However, only a short walk away from there was a little hole in the wall shop with easily a 100k worth of gen vintage in the window. All in all, I had a wonderful time and look forward to the next GTG! It was certainly a pleasure for my gf and I to meet everyone
  17. A GTG in the NYC summertime can't be topped... ....but who is this man trying to get a date with the local homeless woman????
  18. Leaving on the train as soon as the gf gets home from work Decided to wear my favorite: meters first red sub Taking along all my frankens See everyone in a little while, save two seats for me and Lor if we're a little late!
  19. I'll be bringing a couple of items along with me tonight besides the watches for close inspection. I've got a very nice meters first chocolate red letter sub dial, and a curved letter aged caseback for a white 1665.. See you guys later, safe travels everyone!
  20. I missed out on a butterfly rotor 1530 about a year ago right around the time I started thinking about this watch (damn)
  21. Thanks for the compliment on the watch alligoat. I found a link that shows a gen 6542 from the same year of production which has a similar "brevet" crown (1958). IMO it isn't implausible for a "first year" 5508 to still have this crown, so I took the artistic liberty to include it on this watch. For those who may not know, the "+" brevet crown (signifying the Swiss patent) preceded the more common "underline" twinlock crown. http://www.luxurywatchexchange.com/detail.asp?id=6823
  22. Looking forward to tomorrow night and meeting everyone. We should be there by 1830
  23. freddy, I've got a classicwatchparts bezel if you might need one
