  1. I know it doesn't help you now but the same thing has happened to me in the past.

For future reference and for any other prospective buyers I'd recommend you NEVER pay by paypal gift, always make a standard payment and you will have recourse to get your money back. If the seller demands the paypal fee's I've always made an agreement to pay the cost of the fees separately, preferably once delivery has been made.

  2. It's part and parcel of our hobby I'm afraid. I've had some duff watches in the past that have been nothing but trouble as I'm sure we all have. I've also had a stack of trouble free watches that look great and have worked perfectly from day one. IMO picking up a beauty like my 005 or Super Ocean Abyss that look, work and feel perfect make all those wasted hour on 21j junk worthwhile!

  3. Great collection .

Is this what's left of your collection ???

Certainly is, all the gens are gone apart from what you see, as are all the cheapie and 21j reps apart from the SM.

I move a lot of watches on quite quickly, as often they just dont wear as nicely as I hoped. Now It's only modded, high end and 'super reps' for keeps. Still have to sell another one or two of these at some point soonish.

It's a pretty tiny collection compared to most I have seen....

  4. As I've recently had to sell the majority of my collection I thought it was a good opportunity to take stock of what remains. I've only got 6.7" wrists so it might be a good guide for people to see how these watches wear on a smaller wrists. They all look better fitted tighter, but I like to wear my watches loose... Either way, 44mm is as big as I feel comfortable with:

  5. Patek Phillipe. I've never seen one and I have met many WIS's in my time and crossed paths with some very 'high up' people. If I saw one on the street I'd always assume fake.

Rolex are in fact one of the only brands that I would assume genuine when I see them. They're the only brand that 100% of people have heard of, as far as luxury watches go they're fairly affordable and non WIS's who want to buy or gift a 'luxury' will always turn to rolex first.

  6. If the dealers photos were of a different watch to the one you ordered then you should get your exchange/refund.

If it was the right watch but you don't like it because it is different to the gen then I'd say the dealer is right. You have to do your homework before you place your order. QC pics are simply for spotting faults like, cracked crystal, missing hands, markers etc... QC pics are not the time to be doing rep to gen comparisons, you need to do this before you place your order.

Can you post the QC pics and a link to the watch you ordered?

  7. I think it depends on model but one things for sure, both the H factory and Noob pams are very close to gen and you cant really go wrong with either.

From what I understand the noob factory has the slight edge on the 111 but the H factory has the slight edge on sausage dial models like the 005.

I've had watches from both factories and they have all been amazing, my personal favorite though is the H factory 005. The low beat movements in the H factory reps have had some criticism but personally I've never had a problem, both low and high beat movements have had good power reserve and accuracy to within a few seconds a day. I've never had a reliability problem with any of mine.

  8. I read this thread with real interest and I'm really surprised at how many people want to fight baldness. I started losing my hair at 20 and by 25 just had the typical ring of hair, a true baldy. I never got ribbed for it (maybe I just had a great group of friends..) and I can honestly say I never had a problem with it, it didn't affect my confidence and I never really stopped to think about it. I definitely had more success with women when I was bald than I did before ( i was told "you know what you're getting with a bald guy!") and I loved that I didn't have to fuss in front of a mirror to check my hair was good (I had long hair before it went!).

I just kept is very close, kept a bit of chin stubble so I didn't look like a shiny peanut and that's it. The only issue with being bald is getting cold easily so I have a nice collection of hats for when I feel the chill. I call BS on the claim you inherit baldness from your mothers side, my mums dad, brothers and his dad all had full heads of hair. My dad and his side were all bald as far back as you can go so I guarantee I didn't get my baldness from my mum's side.

I'd say go with it, it's nature's way, keep it short, keep in shape and if you feel the need for a different look, go for a goatee, funky specs, stylish hat etc... Just don't get a wig.....

  9. This will be next to useless for you but I read a thread on RG this morning by someone in Sweden who had just received a rep so it can be done. It's Switzerland that's a real no no but I think you'll be ok if you opt for a triangle shipment via the UK (trusty time and some other TD's offer this).

  10. How about a Superocean abyss? I have 6.7" wrists and asked this very question which lead me to choosing the abyss. Apart from being a great rep I think it's an excellent fit for my wrist size. Just for the record 40/42mm is my 'normal' choice and the 44mm Pam 005 (which is also amazing!) is as large as I can wear without it looking (and feeling) oversized.

Here's how the abyss wears on a 6.7" wrist:

  11. Some dealers (I think Narikka is one) can still get hold of MBW cases. They're considered among the best of Rolex cases, particularly the older style subs and seadweller's.

Keep an eye out in the sales sections, I've picked up one or two in the past and they'll usually already have had some mods done (crown guard shaping, aging etc..). Once you have one you're well on your way and it's time to start looking for a nice dial, gen insert and crystal and the like. That's when the fun begins..

  12. I too love vintage rolex. My advice is if you don't know how to mod them yourself you'll end up posting it all over the world to get the mods done properly so keep an eye on the classifieds and pounce when the right one comes along, don't bother haggling, a good one will go quickly. Try to get an MBW case and look for mods done by some of the pro's on the forums, anything that has had mods done by pbad, jackjo, donerix and RSH will be well treated and among the most accurate you can get. Good luck with your search!

Im a member of most of the rep forums and imo all the best watches, the most accurate, the most modded and the most unusual vintages always show up on RWG so you're definitely in the right place.
