  1. There woukld be no point in an in-depth onkline watchmaking course. Watchmaking is an intense hands-on training and an online course woukld leave you in the dark on so many issues that you would be more lost than if you hadn't taken any class at all. You can be taught some things online (which is almost like being self taught) but the deeper you get into the trade, the more you need to have an instructor there with you ti watch what you are doing. Lathe work, balance work, jewel setting, and things of thast sort are too involved for online courses to go into. You can ruin more than you learn by trying it.

My suggestion is to find a watchmaker who is willing to teach you, or enroll in a watchmaking school.

Once you get into the real meat of things, you will realize why in-depth watchmaking isn't taught online or mail-order.

I agree with you as well.

You can get a basic idea with online courses, but not hands on experience.

  2. Better to stick to the TDs for sure. That way, if anything were to ever go wrong, a solution could be facilitated through the forum and through our well established members.

Worth mentioning a rule that has gotten some new guys in trouble before: never issue a PayPal recall before exhausting EVERY other opportunity for a solution! This includes talking to the Trusted Dealer about your problem, posting here (without bashing the TD), working with admins, etc. Trusted Dealers are just that for a reason.

Lastly, reps can take a bit to come in and sometimes you'll see things like "on hold" in the tracking. Better never to freak out and it pays not to be jumpy.

    Welcome!

Yes, just stick to the TDs here.

  3. Thanks for the advices from all ur guys; I have calculated before, a fully Franken is even more expensive than a Gen. That's why I was wondering

After certain price point , it doesnt make sense to go franken. I would rather buy a gen than spend more than 50% price of gen on a franken.

  4. Hey guys,

I ordered a rolex from josh and it is the 3 rd time he is sending it back after being denied 2 times by customs...has anyone experienced this before and does it even stand a chance to make it through?

I have dealt with Josh a few times and never had this issue.

If it happens third time as well, then you would probably be better off doing a charge back on your credit card.

  5. Hello folks,

finally the time has come for me to post :)

I have been lurking around in th forums for a long time , but never posted.

I am very much interested in watches and different leather accessories.

I have learnt a lot about watches through different reviews and threads in the forums.

I had a shortlist of what I wanted when I joined the forums, but its not a short list anymore :)

I have already got a Tag from Andreww (trusty watch) and also placed order for some gucci shoes from Ken.

    Take care..
