  1. Allllllllriiiiiighty then.

I started off with an amazing watch from my friend - Mr. Davidsen. A BEAUTIFUL 112 that I dreamt about and wanted for oh so long. FINALLY, I pulled the trigger and she made her way, half way across the world, to my door. You don't know the excitement I felt. This specimen was flawless and I couldn't be happier...... except..... the damn CG pin. UGH!

    P1060085.jpg

So I decided to mod it (NOTICE, mod was completed before I took pictures for tutorial - so use a little imagination and work with me here!).

    1. Take off CG

    DSC06376.jpg

    2. Push pin up from bottom so it protrudes through the top of the CG my literally a hair, just so your fingernail catches it when you drag it across the top of it. Use the pointy part of a springbar tool or a small (very small) screwdriver. If you push it up too far, turn over and push it back a hair using a flat surface.

A bit too much here, but you get the idea on how much to push it up:

    3. File down using a disposable finger nail file. Purple is the preference (LMAO!). It should be flush. Best way to do it is put file on flat surface, turn CG over and stroke back and forth (I know what you are thinking

  2. Thanks y'all! I was happy with how a few of these turned out today.

Man beautiful watch and even better pics... how do you get them to come out so clear? Do you use a tripod?

Thanks to you too! I usually use a tripod and a better camera, today it was a 3 year old Sony point and shoot (P39A) held in my hand. It was the perfect day to shoot outside as it was overcast and lighting was near perfect. No terrible glare but plenty of light so no flash was needed. You can't beat what nature gives ya! B)

  3. Have you considered the rarest of the rare? The ever elusive Panerai Radiomir Tourbillion White dial:

Seriously, for PAM reps - especially base - I don't think you can go wrong with a modded watch by Davidsen, The Prince, Angus, etc. Almost perfect out of the box, because IMO - you'll love it at first and then start nit-picking. First comes the cannon pin fix, then superlume, next thing you know you are at that $500 mark and have been without it as it sits on a modders workbench for a week or two.

I'm in love with my 112 from DSN. I've also owned his 005 and 113 at one time or anther. Figure out if you want SS or Ti, then if you like the subdail w/ seconds or not. Then pull the trigger on a 000, 005, 112, 111, 176, 177, etc.

  4. After entering the world of reps by buying a noobmariner.. i m looking now at the Panerai's and i think i have already decided to

purchase DSN 111 ..as people say it is one of the most acurate reps with extra mods and luming.. I ve told that the rep straps

are not good quality at all and thats one reason that there are so many aftermarket products and e-shops selling straps for

suitable PAMs. I ve visited some of them and i saw that i m going to pay more that $ 100 for a good quality aligator strap ..

And now i am asking... Is it worth then buying genuine Panerai straps (inbstead of purchasing..suitable pam-style straps)? Is it

possible, i mean..do they fit? Has anyone tried that?

How much did it cost ? B)

    $200+++

DSN sends some of the best rep straps out with his watches. They are the only rep PAM straps I'd wear. In addition, depending on what you are looking for - you can pick up decent after-market straps for $25-50ish.

  5. I just can't get over how much I am enjoying this watch. It dresses up enough for a suit but is more at home with jeans and a button down. I'm thinking of a croc w/ deployment for business meetings and adding a few more THICK straps to get ready for spring/summer.

Ready for a quick meeting with a client:

I've owned a number of reps over the last year or two. Had to sell them off for various reasons, so the 112 is currently the only one in my stable. Of the reps from days gone, the 113 and the Inge are the only two I REALLY miss. As much as I miss those, they don't compair to this 112.

  6. @Watchdude below: :o Can I move in with you?? I come bearing watches and straps!

I'm still w/o the GS3, will be for some time. The Andreja pulls a DAMN fine shot, and with some knowledge and love - on par with just about any machine out there. It just takes some more time and effort, but I know her well and don't struggle too often.

It is espresso nirvana at Casa de WatchDude.....

  7. Oh God, MACAP this and MACAP that. That's all I hear in that forum.

Give it a "shot", you'll see the light..... :p

I was torn between going Rocky, Mini, M4 and a few others. In hindsight, I believe I made a great decision - although all are good choices. Truth be told, I doubht I'll EVER upgrade my grinder..... no need. I thought I'd never upgrade my machine (Andreja), but I've got the fever.... the LM GS3 fever.

    lg_lamarzoccogs3.jpg

  8. In time, I hope to get a Mazzer Mini or Super Jolly!

Hey..... what's wrong with MACAP? ;)

I use an M4 Stepless and couldn't be happier! IMO, it's the Mazzer Mini killer. B)

    M4R.jpg

@Ryyannon:  ...Go to coffeegeeks.com. Those people make US look like Stepford Wives.

I spend a bit of time there too. :D

  9. If davidsen can improve the fit and finish of his products (check out the brushing, CG fit, and hands installation on the 082 above) a new 104 would be fantastic.

Hit or miss, but my last delivery was a hit for sure. ALMOST perfect fit and finish - I haven't found a flaw on his QC on this one - but I'm sure I will..... EVENTUALLY! B) Even the rep strap is nicer than many aftermarket straps I've purchased!

If he continues sending out watches like my last one, we'll have no reason to go anywhere else for PAMs (IMO).

I'm anxious for his 88. With a 112 and an 88, I'll be done with rep PAMs for good (except maybe a white dial..... again)! Then it is just time to replace those with gens. ;)

  10. I agree with Rolli. That exclusive maker makes great PAM's - but I have yet to see one that I would say is "ultimate" or without it's own idiosyncrasies.

I never said they were perfect or "ultimate", I've yet to see a perfect rep. We've got to pick and choose what faults we can live with and out of the box, his seem to have the faults I can most live with. MOST of what people nit-pick about is stuff that blown up on a 21" computer monitor, magnified 10 times next to a gen looks glaring. On the wrist, walking through the mall it is not. PERIOD. His faults are SO MUCH BETTER than looking at an "etched' crown on a rep Rolex. NOTHING screams REP to me like that. It is simply not visible to the naked eye on a gen UNLESS you get out a flashlight and shine it up through the crystal at the 6 o'clock position towards the 12. They would be much better to NOT have it at all. But I digress, that is another conversation for another thread.

I just don't know that it is "too much efforts for nothing." I don't see the passion and efforts to please us from any other dealer (not customer service, but bringing unique and rare reps to us at our request).

Again, I mean no disrespect, but I wholeheartedly disagree that his efforts are in vain.

  11. you should have giving a watch to the COP as a bribe .... and u wouldnt have to worry about court ... those crooked COPs in nyc wouldve taken it ..... next time i get drunk and decide to run every light on Canal ST to get to the Holland at 4 in the morning ima try it

You sir are an idiot. Drinking and driving is absolutely wrong and irresponsible.

I hope they nab you before you hurt yourself or more importantly, someone else.

Get smart, you can only pull that [censored] off for so long before something life altering can happen.

  12. Mmmmmm.... coffee. Something I could talk about for days.

For a good (the best) drip pot - I'd go with something by Technivorm (http://www.sweetmarias.com/prod.technivorm.shtml). They are, hands down, the best in drip coffee makers. It is my next drip pot, right now I have a Zojirushi and am VERY happy (http://www.zaccardis.com/zojirushi-thermal-coffee-maker.html). Bang for the buck, it is tough to beat!

If ya want to talk espresso, I can REALLY do that too! Here are a few 'shots' for y'all!
