I like VCs but unfortunately most of the VC reps are of lower quality compared to high quality reps of other brands.
Does not bother me much but I guess I have my fill.
Overseas seems to be the only high quality rep.
Still, I could not overcome myself because of the cross and buy the rep.
Have you seen my smallish collection?
-
From what I see you could well be Jack the watch ripper
-
... Probably the best one to do would be a simple 111 dial with accurate placing of L-Swiss-L and the correct crossbars on the A's. ...
111H would be a really good start.
-
THe thicknes should be good as it uses the same movement as the gen (2893).
By 2893, you mean 2892?
As to the differences, the main flaw is the size of the crown.
the hands are not superlumed.
-
Talked to the watchsmith, and had him redo it. Another couple of weeks of waiting.
He says it is my dial and the logo and wording was printed anew.
Here's how it looks now.
Don't like the logo at all.

BTW, here's the dial i have
(in unrestored condition)
D-A-M-N, I just noticed I was given a wrong dial.
It is exactly like mine but has "Breitling Navitimer Chronometre" written.
-
Thank you The Zigmeister and PAMman for the info.
I knew there were no problem with installing a gen dial in the Navitimer with 6-9-12 configuration.
Mine has 3-6-9.
Quite forgot to stress that detail.

Hi,
I have embarked on a small project of swapping dials on my Navitimer.
Have found a gen dial on eBay and had to have it restored as the quality was not so good.
Now, the problem is the spacing is a little bit different.
I made some pictures of the rep and the gen dial and measured distances on pictures with Screen Calipers.
The measures are approx. as follows:..............gen....................rep
spacing b/w subdials at 3 and at 9...............16.63 mm..........16.40 mm
center to subdial at 6.................................... 8.19 mm............8.00 mm
inner measurement circle..............................27.79 mm..........25.87 mm
Do you think because of the allowances it'd be possible to still swap the dials?
(Unfortunately, the watchsmith I found seems to be disinclined to do on reps something beyond simple tasks.)

Palp,
I think it'd make sense to let us know in this thread when you're through with PMing
so that those nervously waiting for your PM could relax until that time.

I've played with the idea of purchasing one.
Found some for as low as $1000.
Keeping my eye at a new (??) producer Francois Rotier.
You can buy the following watch for €1300
Don't like all those diamonds and gold plating.
Hopefully, they'll come up with an SS version.
Here's additional reading re tourbillons (look around).

And yes I do think she can be a valuable addition to our community.

...Is anyone else out there, shaking their head, saying "I knew it...I knew it..."
I never want anyone to get hosed but.... an unreviewed watch at a too good to be true price from a sincere but unproven dealer?????? Not something I would have been jumping all over.
Well, sorry guys if I haven't stressed that enough
but the Navitimer I presented the other day is from Ruby
We've talked quite a lot about this watch on RWI so I didn't think it could be of any use to post the review on RWG2.

I opened a moneybookers account a few months ago and was given a very silly 70 pounds credit limit. What am I supposed to do with that!!
What other guarantees were given that the other dealers do not offer?
Funny, my limit is €10,000
Maybe the limit get raised after you verify yourself.

The Cimier is pretty cool... I guess it's a genuine, right?
Yep
-
What a nice collection and kinda surprised you're not into Rollies and Pam though
As my collection grows, I'll certainly have to include a PAM and maybe even a Rolex.
In fact, I've already decided to buy the Legend in the near future.
On the Rolex side, I could consider getting a Daytona. But not untill they fix the problem with the movement.

Nice collection and I did notice the Conquistador. Definitely one of my favorites as well. Wear them well.
Then, all's well.
I thought for a moment it's not a rep forum anymore.

Makes good reading. Thanks.
here's another picture of the genuine blue TAG Link. Just in case.

Hi friends
i am now unhappy with our dealers from EU
i am from germany and have customs problems here... customs held my watches last time and i will only order from EU dealers now. But EU dealers can´t get all watches
for 2 month i am looking for Omega PO 45mm black and Luminor Arktos models... but still haven´t.
Homer, PT (great person) have small stock on watches. They can get only the standard models... for other models you must asking long time and waiting long time. TTK is very nice person and send his watches also from Asia to EU and than to your door. But his choise is also small.
i am looking to Josh´s, Paul´s, trusty´s sites and choise and i am very jealous to non eu-members...
i have all PAM 111´s, daylight´s, daytona´s, submariner´s etc. on my collection... i will now fancy models like breguet sceleton, Arktos, Arktos GMT, Patek Lady´s watches, PAM power reserve etc etc...
but no way?
If you think you're black listed at the customs, have a dealer send watches to another address.
I have ordered about 15 watches so far, not a single problem with the customs. And some dealers do assume the cuctoms risk to a certain extent.
How was your watch shipped?
-
Even nicer pictures.
And do keep 'em coming.
That Tag of your does have a certain appeal.
Considering buying the blue version myself.
Happen to know how close the blue in the rep to the genuine is?
EDIT: I assumed you have a black version. Now after having read your TAG review I realized it's blue.

These are the countries you can buy Cimier in.
It used to be a well-known brand till they went bankrupt during the "quartz crisis".
Now, they're making a come-back so they don't offer many automatic models.
And the prices are so sweeeet.
PS: D-A-M-N! No one noticed my Conquistador.

Omega Aqua Terra (ETA 2836)
VC 1755 Jubilee
VC Perpetual Calendar
VC Regulateur
VC Date Retrograde
-
These are the core of my collection. Have a couple of other watches and reps but they don't add anything new from the design point of view.
Breitling Navitimer (asian 7750 @28,800)
Cimier 1924 Automatic (ETA 2836-2 modified)
FM Conquistador (ETA 2892)
FM Crazy Hours (Long Island)

lol, i wasn't very clear about that was i? the buckle that is on the rep band. it is correct for the watch. do you send the band to a strap maker and let them make a strap and use your buckle? or can you buy a strap with same buckle from somewhere?
I normally buy general straps (look in the links section) and if the rep buckle is of good quality I replace the buckle on th new strap with the rep buckle (you'll need a spring bar tool).
You just need to make sure you order straps of correct size and length.
Haven't seen VC buckles sold anywhere.
There're not many watches from VC made of steel so the buckle would be very very pricey.

Oh, yes.
I started a topic on the old RWG to that end.
