I prefer the rep

A second hand gen is often a better choice. But that works with only a few brands. And if you are someone who loves 44mm and larger watches (as many here are) that is not a realistic option. On the 2893 and 7753 PAM's the gens still trade in the $5-7,000 range. On the HBB, how cheap will that get in the second hand market in the next couple of years - $6,000 or so. That is still a pretty major purchase. There are certain brands (Omega, Breitling, etc.) where you can get an older version for under $2,000 but they are the exception not the rule. IMHO, it is not the pricing that is so upsetting on the HBB but what you are getting for it. My favorite reps are the $600+ reps which are well put together with solid movements. You can invest money and time and try and make them better and not worry about the watch becoming a paperweight. I am still very curious as to how many people actually buy it.
Yes lots of stuff to factor in.

I have looked at this shop for some time FINE TIME
34 Tien Mou W.Rd Taipei, Taiwan
They get some excellent second hand pieces.

I aggree with you. And from an economical point of view a second hand gen is a far better choice. After a few years there is an obvious risk that the rep is broken and cannot be repaired, which means that it is practically worthless. If one instead has bought a gen., you will most likelly have a perfectly working watch also after 5 years, and if you want to sell it you will probably be able to get the money back. So even if the price of a rep can makes it tempting and gives the feeling of making a bargain, many of them will probably end up being more expensive.
This is exactly the conclusion I came to just this week after a few months of buying reps.

Thanks for the post. I didnt get one but now really want the Nickle-Plated ETA-2824 Angus has.

Bezel is poor old stock much better. I'm sorry Andrew but if you change your supplier then you should change your stock photographs, otherwise just post pictures of the genuine watches like idealwatches.com and have a disclaimer that watches will be approximate. You are respecked and a trusted dealer because people can trust that what they see is what they will get not a variation.

@ Pug - sorry that didn't answer my question which is why I posted. I'm interested in the PP Nautilus and plain AP Royal Oak not the Offshore with 7750.
Also waiting for the pricing.

Thats the way i would like to see... but we'll see what can be worked out here
This is going in the right direction.

Yes we do have good dealers with good products I just hope this isn't the beginning of wider price fixing.

What I find entertaining is that this same thread was taking place on RWI and even after THREE dealers posted, the thread was still moved to the looney bin. You know, the thread where the dealers admit to screwing us was seen as so insignificant that it was essentially chucked away.<BR>
Interesting, why would Admin do that ?Ok so they might be holding prices artificially high, but you have to remember this is business, they don't owe us anything. We are on this forum, putting input in to these watches because it's our hobby
I thought this forum was set up to protect watch collectors paying artificially high prices as advertised on other dealers sites and for us to share knowledge with one another so we could identify and obtain the best quality. Not provide a haven for dealers to get together and artificially set high prices to a fixed audience.
Maybe we haven't enough dealers and need some more to make it difficult for them to collude?
Or have I missed somehing?
On a personal note I did want to purchase the Superocean after purchasing the BCE but felt it was not worth the price.
