  1. I have this set and can say that the tools are not of high quality. Good enough to do bracelets, buckles etc but wouldn't want to use on a movement. It comes with some silicone grease so could open the caseback up and grease the gasket but not enough (quality or selection of tools) to do any movement work.
  2. I wasn't following your hyperbole, no offense meant....
  3. Not much different than our friends in Switzerland then... Just assemble the parts (ensuring that at least 50% in cost of the movement come from Switzerland) and bing bang bimbo you have a nice Swiss Made watch!
  4. Think perhaps you lost me on that one.....
  5. For my dress shirts I get my tailer to make my left cuff a bit looser to accommodate a wristwatch. Otherwise for daily use I wear scrubs to work so I don't have a problem.
  6. I would not send it back, even if it means you don't get any sort of credit. You can read stories on the forum about guys that send it back to china for repair/exchange and later when it gets bAck to them discover it's the same watch with nothing done to it. There are even strokes of it getting lost. The Chinese are good and sending stuff out of country however are not as good at receiving shipments into the country. What took 5-7 days to get to you will likely take 30-60 days to get to the dealer. Could be looking at 60-90 days to get the watch back to you. Now, mind you I have not ever sent anything back, just read the horror stories. I would try for a partial refund from the dealer and then put that towards a service of the Asian movement, once serviced these movements are really good. If you don't get any refund just chalk it up to the cost of the rep game and either sell it on the forum and buy another one or just get the movement serviced and call it lesson learned.
  7. Well you got the 111 already, how about the 177N from noob? Also there is the 243. I personally have been drooling over the KW 346 and the KW 386. The 386 has a v5 and a v5.1 the difference is the mvmt. The v5 is an a7750 and the v5.1 is a Seagul ST2555 that is said to be very reliable. Problem with the 246 and the 386 is the display caseback, dead giveaway since the gen uses an in-house mvmt. Other than that they look great on the wrist IMHO.
  8. Probably a good point for the guys in the US as it is not illegal to be in possession of a counterfeit item rather illegal to sell or have intent to distribute. There was some hubbub a while back about a couple of members of congress drafting a law to make it illegal to posses counterfeit goods in the US, luckily for the rep community our congress is so inept at actually passing legislation that it didn't pass.
  9. Mike - if you get tired of that let me know, I might know a guy that would take it off your hands!
  10. I have great experience with a miyota 9215 movement, also about +/- 1 sec a day. It was in my Raven Deep 44mm that I just sold.
  11. Outstanding Longines Sgt, I've had an eye on the Hydroconquest for a while
  12. Doug - the overwhelming response is going to be fix it locally don't send it back! If one watch guy is quoting you several hundred then try to find another watch guy because as mentioned, shouldn't cost much to service and a new movement would only cost about the same.
  13. With the 2836 GMT mod you should set the GMT hand then pull the crown out all the way (to the third position) then push it back in and this will set the gear. No need to change the date unless the date needs changing of course. The best practice to setting the time on a GMT modded mvmt that has been sitting is to 1 set the GMT hand, 2 date and then 3 the time.
  14. Guys, not certain but this looks like a rep, based on the thick scallops on the bezel. None of his pics are clear, they are all edited and have an stylized effect. I have my v2 in my hand and it looks spot on the same as his pics... Am I off? http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/wts-omega-ploprof-1200m-1026104.html
  15. Wonder if PayPal charges the seller the 4%? Either way if toro says that he'll refund you I'm sure that you'll get the money.
  16. Maybe you did a copy and paste? You should be able to edit your own post and then delete that part of the quote.
  17. My two cents are to echo what has been said previously, war is war and terrorism is different. Soldiers sign up knowing that they will be facing an enemy, the civilians that went to work that day had no clue that they would be targeted in an act of terrorism. Yes those civil war numbers are high, yes they are from 170 years ago and yes both are tragic but 9-11 is different and should not be compared to the civil war or the burning of Washington.
  18. Andei if your going to resurrect an old thread this is the way to do it! Love those lighting effects!
  19. I thought that if your account was suspended they would be able to also identify your computer used for the account and if you used that same computer to start another account they'd flag that account too... To the OP, can you start a claim stating it as an item not as described, ie broken beyond repair. Be vague about the brand, in the US it's the seller that would get in trouble for selling counterfeit goods. If the seller is silly enough to fess up that it's a rep then it's on him when his account is closed, as a buyer less risky. I would think that the simple act of filling a dispute (no matter if for rep or not) would likely put your account at a higher level of scrutiny for a time period.
  20. Thanks, I was looking at those but didn't know if they'd work of the newer lug style or not.
  21. Don't forget that you can see much of this forum with out signing in. We are an open forum here for much of the sections. Bassboink, make sure to register as a member and then login and you should see the massive list of dealers that we are talking about.
  22. There are actually gen owners that know a thing or two about watches...
