  1. Prob not since he states that he hates reps... But who knows
  2. Thanks man! That leather ages really awesome too! Now it is a really nice amber brown color. Think natural wildflower honey, not that filtered Chinese crap from the grocery store.
  3. Agreed, the strap makers on our forum are for the most part not active here. Donerix is about the only maker that is active here, he is on about every watch board out there so he is quite the busy man. Gunnystraps (Peter) was just on here the other day but honestly it was the first time that I've seen him post in quite a while. I jumped over to RWI and browsed their strap makers and I worked with Primestraps (Jeremy), great to work with and got a top notch croc strap for my 177n. Mind you he works full time outside the watch biz so makes straps in his down time. Took about two weeks from first contact until he sent the strap out, all told that is quite reasonable for a fully custom strap. He worked with me and I choose everything about the strap. He came thru and I think it was well worth it. Don't have a pic of they strap mounted but here is a pic of the strap.
  4. Mark - I wish you all the luck. If you read around you'll see this is not the recommended way about getting a rep repaired. It may cost more out of pocket but it is usually a safer bet to repair it yourself. You'll likely get your watch back, but it's likely to be the same watch with nothing actually done to it.
  5. I just got a 243 in and while changing out the strap I noticed that on one side the quick release button is so loose that the strap bar can be removed without even pressing on the quick release. The other side is quite firm and I swapped out the bars to see if that made a difference and no luck. I am not sure that the bar would come loose but it doesn't exactly instill confidence if you know what I mean. I figure it has to be a weak spring that if I could get to I could swap out for a stiffer one. I just wouldn't know how to get at it, any suggestions?
  6. Really, not making that up. My job was at the nursing school and I let the young, pretty nurses collect "donations" for the fertility clinic.
  7. You know there are such things a "professional patients" who for a decent sum of money let med students practice their skills at such things as prostrate exams. Maybe the OP has a similar job....
  8. Mike on a Bike, he will likely be along shortly to sort it out.
  9. He wants to know, "Who has the best Sub? I'm tired of wearing these Timex!"
  10. Well, look around and get a feel for different dealers, they all pretty much carry the same Watches. Meaning the BP sub-C you can get from trusty is the same as you can get from Toro. The biggest difference that you will find is the way dealers provide service, ie treat you. As far as BP vs Noob read around and buy what you are comfortable with, BP might look closer to gen for you vs noob but most people will have different feeling in their hands. The latest noob version is said to have a very nice quality fit and finish compared to the BP. They both have gen style construction. And remember, it says Rolex on the dial so most people will wonder if it's fake just because of that.... And yes TC does supply a very nice quality sub, but it is the 16610 and not the model your after.
  11. Well read around, after a service these Asian "POS" movements run just as good as Swiss. Or, just run it until it gives you major issues then replace it with a Swiss. Likely that swiss eta will need a service just the same.
  12. Why replace the Asian 2836? Just have it serviced and it'll work just as good as the Swiss version. I mean if you want to waste money I'll give you my PayPal and you can send me $200 bucks just for the hell of it....
  13. The DG 2813 is not interchangeable with a 2836 (Asian nor Swiss) they have different hand size, dial feet position and diameter.
  14. It's a ETA 2836 movement that has been modified to look like a 3135. It's likely not really a Swiss, any one that knows anything about movements will know that it's not a real 3135 and it costs more than a standard 2836. What else would you like to know?
  15. Well if the pics of the watch on the website don't have the issue and then the QC pics do have the issue it does seem fairly close to a bait and switch to me. However I do agree that if he is rejecting a watch based on a "known" issue with a particular version then it is him not the dealer that is at fault. Like I said previously without the posting of the QC pics in question it is hard to draw solid conclusions.
  16. PloProf with full relume including the bezel.
  17. Without the name of a dealer it is not useful. I understand that someone might be hesitant to cry foul and tarnish a dealers reputation but the whole point of these forums is to educate and keep the community safe from such issues. You should post the QC pics showing the issue and give us the name of the dealer so everyone will know to keep an eye out. At least you should send this to Mike on a Bike and he can help send the info out to the members if you don't want to.
  18. Mike I think it went something like this.... Nanuq was reading some motivational material about having the energy of a bear inside your heart and how it will give you all of the power to overcome what is in the path ahead of you. And since he has been having power reserve issues with his watch he thought why doesn't my watch have the power of a bear inside of it? This is the result of some serious modding: His watch did get the much needed power boost but in the words of a famous Scottish space engineer, "it can't take any more power, she'll blow!" And well we know the rest....
  19. Man, someone should have given that watch to a brown bear to quality test it before giving it to Nanuq to wear! It's just not safe for the watch otherwise! I'm guessing a spot weld would be out of the question?
  20. I have a RW Nabucco GMT that I am looking to sell. It is in used condition and will be priced accordingly (well within your budget with $$ left over for a second watch if you want), if interested let me know and I will point you to the sales link...
  21. My vote is on the Oris Aquis Date that MOAB posted, I have the blue version and love it!
  22. Not a fantasy, rolex doesn't make any watches in PVD however several aftermarket boutiques do modify rolex ProHunter being one of these boutiques. They are rare and sell at a premium but not a fantasy.
