Left for me, thought you were supposed to wear a watch on the non-dominate hand. How else are you supposed to time something you are working on? Then again this is the era of telling time with your cell phone...

Sent a few bucks over, thanks for keeping us up and running! -
Well that sounds like a crazy ass bike ride! I've ended up in the ER after a few of mine but nothing like your story! Of course I live it TX and the furthest north I've ever ridden is Boulder CO, was only 25 or 30 although there was snow on the ground. Here I was riding my cross country full suspension bike with my 1.8in tires slipping and sliding like a fool, and what do you ride? Looks like 3in? Full rigid? Buddy system, or at least someone that will come point and laugh when you've done something stupid! :-)

And yes the "V" in LV designates that it has a green insert.
-
The TC type 1 vs type 2 are as I understand it the same watch with the type 2 minus the insert and the type 1 has had the engravings sanded off. They are both meant to be a LV, you just need to supply an insert for the type 2. The type 1 is sold out, and it appears that the type 2 is all that is left. The engravings on the reps are not the best when compared side to side with a gen so some prefer to simply remove the engravings where possible. The LV does exist both with and without engravings so your good to remove if you wanted to. TC is now starting to ship out the LV batches so you can e-mail him to see if you can get a type 2.

Has anybody bought one of these? PureTime has them listed as gen overproduction... Not certain if that is to believed or not but it does look like a nice sport watch. Curious about the general quality? is it really full titanium? does the bracelet look as it will hold up for the long term? http://puretime.co/product/time-bomb-full-titanium-swiss-eta2824/

For what it's worth, I don't see any "S" trusted dealer either -
The rep that I bought (my first by the way) on Canal street was a cheap pos Daytona that doesn't even tell the time correct at least twice a day. It does serve as a neat memory of the afternoon. Ironically I bought an Asian rep off a Nigerian on Canal St... Who says this hobby doesn't cross cultral boundaries? Walk around and enjoy the sights and have some lunch, do not expect to find a top noch rep...

I had a similar issue with a c-sub and sent it off to PBDad, he should be able to source a pearl for you. Not certain about the crystal but if possible I am sure that PB can set you straight.
-
Yup, sounds familiar to me except my first rep was a bk sub with some love by pbdad so all the others don't seem to be quite as good. unless its my bk yachty with gen crystal and crown...

I use safari and the mobile skin, no problems browsing here. Could be why I prefer rwg over the others -
Zenith for sure

Hard to be certain, but is the date centered? looks a bit to the left

Any Explorer experts that could offer a bit of insight here would be greatly appreciated. I am looking at the Explorer I 14270 at puretime and I am wondering about some possible inconsistencies. The listing says it is for a 14270 added on 2008-03-03, the pics show a correct style hollow midlink bracelet, correct flip lock clasp, but the description says it is 38mm and the engraving is for a F series 114270. My question is what gives? I am wanting the 36mm 14270 and had heard that the 2824 mvmt version is the better one to go for, just wanted to make sure I was looking at the correct watch. The link his here: http://puretime.co/product/explorer-i-14270/ Thanks

Making a gen style 16710 case out of a 16570 case and TW bezel assembly
jpz5142 replied to bklm1234's topic in The Rolex Area
I have some cash that is just demanding to be spent on a watch, but this would be the first mod/project to work on. I figure I could attempt to swap the bezel out myself but not certain I should attempt a dial swap yet. If I wanted to work on a project like this but did not want to spend the cash on a gen GMT II dial, where could I get a good rep GMT II dial? I figue that if I needed to, I could sport the EXP dial with the GMT bezel until I am able to find a good dial. Also, If I get the Clark's bezel/retainer for a 16610 plus an insert for a GMT II would that work? I know I would need to get a click spring for the GMT that would be bi-directional, would I be able to use the tension/friction washer from a 16610? Thanks in advance for the response! -
All good thoughts, I saw the 2824 as a "top grade" at Ofrei as they did not have a "top grade" 2836 or else I would go with that. The top grade has the Glucydur balence and the higher grade alloy Anchron hairspring. If the 2836 has a top grade mvmt I'd go for that. I also have just given thought to scrapping the mvmt project and getting an Omega 42mm PO...

Mostly was looking for a more accurate movement like a top grade. It's a great watch and nothing wrong with the movement was just wondering if anybody had put a Chrono grade mvmt in their rep, suppose it defeats the "cheaper" pointy of getting a rep in the first place
-
That's what I have seen, think something like 4.2mm vs 3.6mm. Didn't know if it just needed a different mvmt spacer? I am not going to do the mvmt swap myself, but wanted to find out for certain before buying a mvmt.

I am looking at a top quality 2824-2 from Ofrei to fit in my TW 16610. I think that I have seen a few 16610 with a 2824 fitted inside. I have just a few questions, does the 2824 indeed fit inside a TW? Are the movements on Ofrei recycled? and if so I suppose they would be best to have a service? Any input is appreciated.

I banged my watch into a doorway today, thought nothing of it until later when I looked to see what time it was and noticed that I had lost my pearl. Has this happened to anybody else? If so any ideas of where to get just a replacement pearl? Otherwise I will probably just go the cheap route and touch up with some white paint and forget about it. My wife's words ringing in my ear, "why do you spend money on so many rep's, just save up and buy a gen..."

Any good ideas on how to best distract oneself while waiting for a watch to arrive? I ordered a black c-sub from BK and it is now with Pbdad for re-lume and a few other minor touches, it has only been about a month, and already can't stand the wait. There should be tranquilizers available for use after ordering a watch, that way a person would not have to be awake during the wait... Quietly jonesing over here...

I have been to the classifieds section, however I did not see a link to it. Am I missing the link? Or will we need to type the address every time we want to visit that section?
