Something new..

Picked up one of these cheapos with a quartz movement. Not much of a rep, but quite a nice looker none the less.

It's obvious that you received a movement designed for the other side of the earth, where the time is 12 hours ahead of your time. I would suggest you either move to the new location, or maybe someone living in that time zone has the same problem with their watch, and you can switch watches/movements.

This one on Ebay strikes me as off but I'm not an Omega expert so I'm curious what others think. Here's the auction:

However, there may have been small variations in the gen during it's production that I'm not aware of, thus this post.

Leather or SS strap is not really practical for a workout watch. I've got a Victorinox Swiss Army quartz with rubber strap that I use for sports. Practical, reliable and pretty cheap. It along the lines of this (I don;t have a picture of my particular watch and I think it's out of production):

I got one today from a large Canadian bank (RBC) and tried it. This particular version is advertised as suitable for most online purchases world-wide and let's you 'register' it so billing data checks will work.

Anyway, the good news is it looks like it worked fine. The payment was accepted by the vendor's third party payment portal and reflected in the remaining card balance shortly afterward.

Going gen today:

I'm new at this but I suspect it plays out like many 'collectibles' hobbies or gear passions. Initially, you're like a kid in a candy store and you want to try everything so you buy a variety of low end products and start getting your feet wet. Over time, as you become more informed, you also become more opinionated and tend to ween the low-end stuff your collection, perhaps going for quality over quantity. In time, the fixation may wain and you end up with one or two top quality (if it's time pieces, probably gens) that serve as your workhorse, everything else either sold or gathering dust in the back of your sock drawer.

However, I'm not suggesting that you jump straight to a high-end gen - it's the journey, not the destination.

Myself, I'm still in the candy store stage and I'm enjoying owning and learning about a variety of watches. I can see myself buying a really nice gen some day, but at this time I'm not ready (sufficiently educated or opinionated) to make that plunge.

I'm curious what all methods of payment are being used for your rep purchases. I refuse to use my regular credit card for these purchases but I've successfully used a Citibank Mastercard with their 'Virtual Account Number' feature which allows me to easily generate a card number specifically for each purchase. Citibank seems to be pretty well the only bank offering this feature. Of course, PayPal is great, but not too many sellers accept it.

I recently ran in to difficulty with a purchase I was trying to charge on my Citibank Mastercard. The rep dealer supposedly accepts MasterCard, but it's not working for me. I don't have a Visa card, but I was thinking of buying a Visa Gift card (in my case, one provide by RBC - Royal Bank of Canada) for this purchase. Any experience using a Visa gift card and in particular, an RBC Visa Giftcard?

I suspected the movement might be screwed, but I wanted to hear it from those more knowledgeable than me.

So where can I drop $20 and buy a replacement movement?

I wish it were so, but alas, with the frequent checking and the drift in sync between the second and minute hand, I'm quite sure that's not the case. My initial thought was that the minute hand was loose and slipping on the shaft, but the rate it lags alignment with the minute marker versus the second hand passing the 12:00 position appears consistent. (Hope you're following that)
