  1. Thanks to all who have chimed in with their constructive (or less so) criticism. But as I reminder, I could have (and likely still can) cancel this with my cc company and be refunded in full. I choose not to because i like the watch (well, my son loves it) and it is an Asian high end movement, and for a the money I am out it isn't worth it (to me, and just my opinion), to get the watch back from the watch smith (with no service) and then restart the process with a trusted dealer. As long as one finds a site that will take credit cards, I think it doesn't hurt to explore options when the prospective reward is access to a universe of product that none of the trusted dealers offer. But, hey, I certainly admire the passion you all (both naysayers and supporters) have for this hobby and I'm glad to have helped in any small way to advance the universe of available information.

  2. Guys, none of the "trusted dealers" offer AP with Swiss movement so if you don't "roll the dice" you are out of luck. And I haveent tried yet for a CC refund which im sure I could get. Basically, if I don't dispute it I "overpaid" 300 bucks for an Asian 7750. Not the end of the world, and they included a nice rep case.

  3. Okay, guys, I'm sorry it's taken so long, but I said I would check it out and report back and that's what Im doing. I sent the watch up to Victor Chow -- he is a trusted watch smith on RWI (and he worked for Audemars Piguet servicing gens for 20 years), and the verdict is.....FAKE! He says it's an Asian 7750 not Swiss 7753. I stand humbled before all of the wizened members who warned me--I should have heeded your advice. That said, as many of us believe, the joy is more in the hunt, perhaps, than the acquisition and in that I take some solace, albeit at the cost of a few hundred dollars.

  4. Ok guys, the watch came as advertised and though I'm no expert the quality to me seems spot on. The box and paperwork was topnotch and the packing was considerably better than my experience from Asia. What I will do next week is take it to my trusted watch repair expert to open it up and tell me what the movement is. One thing is for sure, they are no scam. I paid by Visa and the site never "went down," so I was completely protected at all times! If you can find a dealer who will transact like this there is little to lose in trying someone new and perhaps adding a new "trusted dealer," especially one with Swiss movements (if that indeed checks out), as I have yet to find any "trusted dealer" who offers them across many makes and brands.

  5. Watchmeister, thanks for the quick response! I am happy to pay up for quality so anything under $750 works fine. As to size, he is going on 16 so he's ready for a hefty "man watch," maybe RO style. He would also love the Tour Auto style. And forgive the dumb question, but where exactly is this list of "trusted dealers?" I can't seem to find many direct references to dealers at all in my exploring so far.
